December 07, 2010 19:47:46 Bertimouse   Hey Craig: KUDOS on the purchase of the cheap temporary-office, while the new Town Hall is being built. I guess you give an update to the public on the status of that project at every TOM board mtg., right? It's too bad that more people don't know about all the work you guys have done about that - how about updating the website with photos of the ground-breaking work? How about a special section on the website just to proudly document TOM'S progress, eh? BTW, TOM will desperately need a TOWN SQUARE, or TOWN PARK where everyone can fit into - to celebrate our 200th Anniversary. Does the new Town Hall set aside any lands for a Town Park? Just asking & curious is all. Again, thanks for saving us some coin. :)
December 07, 2010 19:31:31 Bertimouse   Dee: I have several great ideas for the Parade & Celebration of TOM'S 200th Anniversary one is: How about having the Fire Dept. take the Lead in organizing this event? The TOM FD has the most connections around & they already have such a good network of folks that know how to organize things. Now THAT would be a good Proposal for the next TOM Board mtg., eh? :)
December 07, 2010 17:39:47 Grumpy Ernst Keidel CDR.Keidel@gmail.com Am I "white thrash" yet? I've lived in Masonville just over 11 years now and am trying hard to fit in. I'm even learning to pronouce truck with two syllables; you know: "tru-uck" -- while I am white, the rest of my family is Asian, or mixed race: Eurasian. May we still qualify as white thrash? I hope so; we really like it here.
December 07, 2010 09:46:31 Dee   PS: To the person who called the wonderful, good hearted people of Masonville "white trash"...I have a quote to share with you: "Instead of always harping on a man's faults, tell him of his virtues. Try to pull him out of his rut of bad habits. Hold up to him his better self, his real self that can dare and do and win out." Making things better for our community is everyones hopes and wishes. However, name calling is not the way to do it. Perhaps you may want to start the change by looking at yourself, and seeking out how you can do something positive for your community. I wish you well and hope you can.
December 07, 2010 09:33:06 Dee cdcutting@frontiernet.net Good morning everyone. I was at our monthly fire meeting last night and the topic of Masonville's 200 year anniversary came up. The Fire Department members are excited about this upcoming anniversary and would like to know what, if anything, has been discussed regarding the celebration. As a member of the department and one of the committee organizers, I would love some insight to the upcoming event. The department is looking forward to honoring our town and the wonderful community we serve at this celebration. And showing everyone who shares in this celebration, Masonville Pride at its best! Anything you can offer would be of great help. Thank you!!!
December 06, 2010 23:26:08 downslope   I was wondering if the person who calls us White Trash would like to share where he is from? Based on the way you write I`m betting you are not white but trashy. Where do you live in Masonville maybe you can tell us all on this message board so we can stop by and visit your fine cleaned up piece of AMERICA.
December 06, 2010 01:26:23 Les   Thanks for the info Craig.Maybe if people would get some real info before spouting off at the mouth we would have known this.Guess downslop was right.
December 05, 2010 19:25:43 JCR   Actually, Saw the evil masonville bear walking in the middle of shear road , heading towards state lands,. he was minding his own business, he is big,. I guess no one was lucky so far to see him and harvest him.. also seen about 30 turkeys behind the ice cream shop in the fields. this is the first time I seen a black bear in the area...
December 05, 2010 18:50:11 CC   Thanks Craig for putting everybody up to date on the RV issue, some people were not able to sleep over that, even they called the White House to ask obama about it,but first they called Old man Lee,he had no info on it,LMAO !
December 05, 2010 17:21:27 Craig DuMond   The RV in question is owned by the Town of Masonville. It is a prior FEMA camper from New Orleans (Katrina) that was actually never used...it is brand new. We picked it up (for believe it or not $500.00)to serve as office space for the assessor once we start our town hall rehab project. This will save us from having to rent a spot. When we are through with it we can sell it privately, for as you can imagine, much more than $500.00. So this is a huge win, win for the taxpayer! We are still looking for space for the justice court...if you have any ideas please contact a board member. We have also been very fortunate to receive vehicles and other equipment from government surplus for literally pennies on the dollar, again, saving us all a lot of $$$. The Town Board is looking for volunteers for the bi-centennial. Please come to the next meeting on January 5th at 730pm to sign up! We were thinking it could be incorporated with the memorial day parade, however, we are open to any ideas.
December 05, 2010 14:54:22 CC   Where have all the deers gone to ?
December 05, 2010 09:06:56 Kathy K   Thanks Robin! It sounds like this conversation should go to the next Town Board meeting (January). I'll try to make it. Maybe the Town Board already has something in mind(?), either way, I'll be glad to volunteer.
December 05, 2010 00:21:04 Les   Guess I didn't read all the messages.Bertimouse the good people who work for the town arn't newbees. They should not feel bad if they have work and some do not. They have been working for TOM for better or worse.Would you like to clear the roads all day and night every snow storm all winter.Hats off to the TOM workers, the TOWN thanks you!Maybe ya guys should park a couple more RV's your 4wheelers,tractors and what ever else ya feel like, cause it isn't costing us anything except for the dignity of the envious that wouldn't be willing to do your job.
December 05, 2010 00:02:45 me   Guess I spelled it wrong, she was "PISSSED".Or I could be wrong maybe she was just angry.
December 04, 2010 23:52:54 Les   Wow!Had an idea for all the unhappy people. Can you guys come up with maybe,I don't know, tens of thousands of dollars to pay for the TAXES of the people you complain about.I can almost guarantee if you offer to pay their taxes they might let you on THIER property and help them clean up.I know a little old lady in Masonville who pays thousands of dollars every year to keep a home that has been owned by their family for over a hundred years was told that her grandsons can't store their derby cars there.WOW was she *CENSORED*!If they own the land, and pay taxes, let them live their lives!!!The same people that complain are like the ones that enslaved the Africans and wiped out the Indians!!!
December 04, 2010 23:30:33 Les   Grumpy did you hear Neita asked the doctors after they said she would be laid up for awhile to just neitly "CUT IT OFF AND PUT A FAKE ONE ON I NEED TO GET BACK TO WORK".At 80+ yrs ya gotta love her I know I do!Thank GOD they made her keep her own arm,bet she was looking foward to thumping us with a fake one!!!
December 04, 2010 23:18:28 Les   Correct me if I'm wrong downslop, but proverbs 13:30 A sound heart is the life of the flesh, but envy the rottennes of the bones, sum it up a little better.I know when I spend (I don't want to say),on a lawnmower and liquid gold (gas),to mow my 2.5 acres of nice lawn perfectly every week all summer,I envy the people that are at peace with themselves and happy with their homes and DON'T waste hard earned money and hard earned effort on "cosmetics" to please the douchebags!!!Sorry I didn't mean everybody just the ones who think Masonville is a slum town.SAVV said it right rt. 8 north will take you anywhere in the USA you want to go,good luck and maybe you will find YOUR happiness!
December 04, 2010 19:41:14 downslop   For all you complainers out there stop acting like old wash women and do something to keep your lives busy. An idle mind is the Devil's workshop . . . . . . . . . . "And besides they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house, and not only idle but also gossips and busybodies, saying things which they ought not" (I Timothy 5:13)
December 04, 2010 14:42:04 Robin Little   Kathy K and Bertimouse, you have a great ideas about the parade. I think you should co-chair this idea. I remember when Memorial Day parades were big. We had Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts (all ages), 4-H, Church youth group, baseball and softball teams, Fire deptment, Emergency Squad, Fire Dept Auxiliary, Grange and the school band. I would be nice to see the town show it's pride.
December 04, 2010 12:57:02 TX   Well, what happened to the Evil Bear,no one gotted him? anybody seen him lately, havent seen anything, not even tracks,he is probably sleeping by now .
December 04, 2010 09:48:54 Observer   Mystery of the RV Solved!! The SP have been picking up so many speeders in the hamlet that the judge cannot process them fast enough. The RV is a temporary jail!! Also housing some of the "White Trash" being discussed on the board.
December 04, 2010 00:23:57 Bertimouse   Great idea Kathy!
December 03, 2010 22:19:03 Kathy K   Neita should be the parade Grand Marshal!
December 03, 2010 20:58:51 Bertimouse   The RV in question parked at the Town Garage obviously cost someone allot to purchase. Don't park your toys that you obviously can afford on Town Property, END OF STORY! It is NOT a Perk to be employed nor appointed to work for TOM; it's a privilege these days just to have a paycheck. How can the TOM flaunt such arrogance in the face of so many folks who are hurting financially right now? Eyesore-SHMY-sore - that's not the whole point, yall; don't you get it? This is Public Property! Glad to hear Nettie's on the mend & yes we should have our own Parade for the TOM 200th Anniversary. :)
December 03, 2010 19:15:39 CJC   I would not say the whole town is whitetrash, but some people and houses have a lot to say,it is a nice town,am pretty new to the area, but people seems to be nice here.every where you go there are bad, poor, rich areas,I know am a truck driver and travel all over this great country of ours,Ive seen the garage or shed on north route 8,it is ugly and a fire waiting to happen,I hope someone here knows the owners and let them know, before the authoritys take care of it,thats my opinion on all of this.
December 03, 2010 18:30:08 Kathy K   It looks like 2011 is Masonville's Bicentennial. Are there any plans in store? How about a parade?
December 03, 2010 17:46:22 CLEAN IT UP !   IF PEOPLE SPENT AS MUCH TIME CLEANING UP THERE JUNK AS THEY DO ON THIS BLOG ,MASONVILLE WOULD BE THE CLEANEST PLACE AROUND!!
December 03, 2010 17:27:24 SAVV   What? White Trash in Masonville. I have lived in this town for over 56 years. I've always tried to mind my own business. But have you read what these people write? Read between the lines. If they don't like what they see or can talk trash------Why don't they follow Route 8 north, it will take you anywhere in the USA you want to go. God bless the good people of Masonville.
December 03, 2010 14:44:37 Observer   CCJR - WELL!! We do thank you. Lumping everyone in Masonville as "White Trash"! Would that include yourself?I will admit that I am white. Not that it is a crime in itself. But trash? Guess that would be in the eye of the beholder. The house on Rte. 8 with the trash. Offer to clean it up for them. I am sure they would appreciate it. Yes, there are some nice homes on Cty. Rte. 20 but there are some nice homes right in the hamlet if you take the time to look.
December 03, 2010 10:35:58 Grumpy Ernst Keidel CDR.Keidel@gmail.com Neita is mending! Had a nice chat with Masonville's own Neita VanValkenburgh, who is recuperating at her daughter's home in Johnson City. Neita had had a nasty fall, Neitly busting up her left elbow. She now sports screws and pins and immobility. I told her that a lot of people here miss her and to hurry up and get well. She said she'll try and comply!
December 02, 2010 22:04:39 CCJR.   TX,. Well you are talking about \" Masonville\" Masonville and towns nearby are white trash heaven ! have you driven around lately.. yeah, that house on rt 8 heading north will be on the right just before the 4 way stop is trashy.. and how about the barn on the left just out of masonville entering sindney. where she sells brown eggs and live stock,. some one shall notify DEP for dangerous.. ??? but if you go on to rt 20 theres a nice couple house on the rt 20...
December 02, 2010 20:05:23 TX   Lynn you are right, besides it is a newer RV,not a junker like Ive seen around town, also talking about eyesoar, on rt8 north bound, right before the 4 ways ,there is garage or shed full of GARBAGE,which is a fire hazard and I dont see anybody complaining about it,that have to go,it looks like white trashville entrance,if no one noticed please do and lets do some about it.
December 02, 2010 19:38:34 Lynn   As long as the RV is well cared for and not an eyesore,is not in anyones way, I don't mind. If a town worker gets a perk that does not do me any harm it sounds like an opportunity to offer a very reasonable incentive.
December 02, 2010 18:36:26 TX   Like the song says: Live and Let Die !!
December 02, 2010 00:40:14 MYOB   Worrying about that RV is just out right petty. Now some poor Highway worker is gonna get reamed. Jeez...people can't just mind their own business.
December 01, 2010 21:31:34 bertimouse   MVtaxpayer: I wondered the very same thing out loud when I went to vote last month. \'Course none of the folks that run the town were there, but none of the \"old-timers\" minding the new voting machines knew anything about the reason why it was parked there either! I was wondering (again out loud) if the TOM would allow me also to park my RV and/or trailer there for the winter. -Hey now there\'s a good way for the Town to earn some extra winter coin, eh Craig? :)
December 01, 2010 14:02:09 Observer   Les- I agree about the going to Church. Great idea for all. :)
December 01, 2010 13:07:41 MVtaxpayer   As a tax payer and neighbor, would appreciate a timely answer to the following questions? Thank you. Subject: RV parked (stored) at Masonville Town Garage Is the RV currently registered? Whom? Is the Town of Masonville Collecting a STORAGE FEE? How much? $$ wise, how is the Town benefiting from storing Vehicles on our Town Property?
November 30, 2010 23:17:17 Les   My health insurance just informed me that my children up to age 26 are covered under my health care!!Thanks Obama is that why my costs are going up for my under 12 children. They already covered my child(ren)untill 19, or 23 if full time students and financially dependent on me.Thats five years of college!I hope my children can fend for themselves at 26 and not be liveing in my cellar with their boyfriend mooching off their hard working parents, and on welfare liveing on the hard working taxpayer!26!We can send them to die in WAR at 18,they can smoke addicting tobacco at 18,DRINK ALCOHOL at 21 DRIVE at 16,LEGALY work at 16,but they are children now untill 26!!!No wonder young people wont work they are waiting for what they are entitled to!Makes me want to start going to church and work on a farm!!!Come on America send your young twentysomething children to work and pay for thier own health ins. and our costs will go down! This NANNY state of a govt.must stop or we will all go broke.THEY already are!!!
November 30, 2010 16:53:33 TX   See not everyone is a terrorist!!
November 29, 2010 21:07:05 bertimouse   Spent Thanksgiving Day at Sidney Emergency with a friend who thought he might be having a heart attack. My thanks to all who helped us at this place that day; no one wanted to be there! My especial Thanks go to the Moslem EMT who stopped by; the only one on duty that day/night.
November 29, 2010 18:13:57 TX   Could that Bear have been The Evil One from Masonville? The 4O permits are for residents first and whatever is left, for nonresidents with preference points.I guess the guy with those 2 does got lucky or they were someone elses deer.good hunting buddy, just mind your business!!!
November 29, 2010 09:35:42 Kathy K   Yes, Westly, I read that story in the Field Notes section of the Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin. If you go to Pressconnects dot com and search "Field Notes" the story comes up. Here is a cut and paste: "Pa. record bear killed A crossbow hunter in Pike County on Monday killed the heaviest black bear ever recorded in Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Game Commission confirmed that David Price, of Barrett, killed the 17-year-old bruin, which had an estimated live weight of 879 pounds, just north of the Fernwood Resort. The bear had a field-dressed weight of 744 pounds. Price's bear was 15 pounds heavier than another Pike County bear that was killed in 2003. A lip tattoo was traced to New Jersey where the bear had been darted, marked and weighed in June, 2009. The Price bear could be a world record. After 60 days, the bear's skull will be measured to be determined where it will stand in the record books. The world record skull is slightly larger than 23 inches (a squared measurement)."
November 29, 2010 02:04:56 Les   Has anyone heard if the hugemongus price increase on hunting liscences last year made NY any money.Or did people stop buying. The big tax increase on tobacco backfired on them.I don't smoke but don't think people should be persecuted for something they legally enjoy. They expected and 7-9% decrease in smokeing and it's around 27%.NY is loseing 20 million a month in revenue. And created a new crime wave of illegal tobacco.Hope they pat themselves on the backs for their job well done. They have decreased legal smokeing and put the profits into the pockets of gangs and smugglers. If their complaining about the money lost I guess the increase in tax wasn't for our health.
November 29, 2010 01:42:34 Les   2400 doe tags for 4O.Chances are,(were)low for first pick none for second and none for non residents. And they are transferable.
November 28, 2010 22:06:57 westly R, Cones   I taught there was no doe permits in zone 40 ?? Seen a brownish SUV 4x4 with 2 does in the back. Called DEC, but he got away, I guess,. I even talked to Sgt.Cass from the area's DEC and he very little or none DMP for the area. well someone I guess was luckey, and had 2 40 DMP tags, I dont know... Been living in the area always tried to get 40 and dont get it for atleast 5 or more years. and then I see a guy that never seen in the area coming down with 2 does ?? Whats wrong with this story, ? by the way great job DEC with those guys caught during the Road Block on Rt 8. in Deposit.. guys had about 4 deers in his carry -on. they were taking the deers away and the car and his fire arms. why hunt illegal ?? its worth it losing your fire arms, deers, and car and having a hafety fine which is upto 5,000 per deer.?? There was another road block today on rt 206. I guess DEC is working hard in the area.! Now I see where our tax money goes ! Tax money at work... Well anyone know if the masonville bear got caught and by whom ??? heard reports that some caught a 800 pounds bear in PA. by the NJ/PA border,.. Port Jervis,Area. maybe a new world record,! but dont know how truth is that ??? anyone else seen this report ??
November 28, 2010 18:56:37 CC   Went hunting yesterday ,went in by ranger trail off Shears, went pass the pine trees keep on going, about a mile in,stay in same spot for about 2 hrs, nothing, just snow mixed with some ice.no Evil Bear,Nasty Coyote or anything else, just cold wind too brutal for me,guess am getting old.
November 28, 2010 15:43:05 Grumpy Ernst Keidel CDR.Keidel@gmail.com Took a nice leisurely drive through the Steam Mill State Forest, as well as through the Arctic State Forest. Here the road was more narrow and much steeper in places. Ironically, it was here in the Arctic SF that I actually encountered snow and ice covered roadway. Of course, I was in 4-wheel drive mode. No bear sighting on the whole of Shear Road!
November 26, 2010 16:52:55 Majtom   Did anyone get the Masonville bear ?
November 26, 2010 08:09:36 Tim Clancy   TX, Dont start with the rag head thing, again.. anyways , I havent seen any out-out of states cars/trucks in rifle season like we did in bow season,. just seen the usaual NJ,PA,NYC.. but not NC,AZ,NM.Etc... November 24, 2010 07:14:09 JP   Seen a Nice 10-12 Pointer following some does in the field behind the Ice Cream shop.. followed them up on shear rd,. they cross private propertys and finaly ended up in state land , thats where they all split, could take a nice shot when they were heading up on shear rd. but its all posted, then they split up in state land,. could not have a shot at this huge buck when its legal to do so, in state lands. I respect all the posted signs,. I hunt 100 % legal. this guy was huge ! he must have had a B&C rack, with all the trimings... long G2's and High and Straight Froward. A Beauti. Mass of Deer.. Anybody know if they caught the evil masonville bear yet ??? Heard some one got killed in deposit in openning day, and another one in sidney... any info on this accidents in the area ???
November 23, 2010 23:59:59 Les   I received three easy signature loans from sfcu.Low interest and no problems. Then I desperately needed money to fix a car.I didn't meet their criteria. No sufficient collateral.WHAT!!I recieved three different signature loans with no collateral and had them almost paid off, every payment on time.Stopped at NBDC and they said their "criteria" is based on ability and history of pay.Not fica score, they don't charge more for lower scores, they either think you will pay your bills or no loan.I paid all sfcu loans off,got the money I needed ,and saved money on interest.I have had loans from them since at lower interest than sfcu and always treated with respect.Every ATM you don't belong to charges you big money.Banks and stores. If you use debit at some stores you pay a dollar.BS
November 23, 2010 22:32:57 Les   Does that make it green?.Where is the solar panels and wind mills.
November 23, 2010 19:16:24 Townsman   They couldn't do it while the old one was being constructed as it would have made the building useless and we would have been without a credit union (and our money!) for months. They stripped all of the copper, wiring, steel, reused supplies, and even saved the fancy class blocks from the loan offices. The money from the scrap helped to recuperate some of the costs.
November 23, 2010 18:48:35 Observer   PS Townsman - How in the H could SFCU "recycle" the old building into the new when the old building was not demolished until the new one was erected and in use? Anyone who "donated" a dirty nickel to help build was a sucker!
November 23, 2010 18:45:22 Observer   Have used the atm at SFCU in Bainbridge fairly frequently and when using the one at Sidney the ransom was just double what it had been in Bainbridge last time I used it. My wife has an account at GHS Credit Union in Binghamton and SFCU never charged her to use their machine. Now they charge $2.00 even though GHS does not charge SFCU customers to use their ATMs. I would not even consider using the ATM at Skinnem Wilber or Robber NBT or even darken their doors. As I stated bankers are among the lowest forms of life.
November 23, 2010 18:18:26 RangerDanger   I\'ll test that out tomorrow, I have to use the ATM to take out some money. I\'ve never been charged anything going there, last time I was there was last week. I always check my balance before going through the teller lines or drive up so I don\'t have to ask how much I have in my account. And if I don\'t need an exact amount I just go to the ATM anyway. When I bought my truck I had to go to NBT\'s ATM in Bainbridge because it was on a weekend and the SFCU one is located indoors over there, I think. They charged me at least 1.70, I can\'t remember the exact amount. All banks I\'ve ever been to have charged for foreign ATM cards. I\'ve never had a problem with SFCU, they have amazing loan rates and work with you to solve any problems. I was in and out of there within five minutes when my car broke down and I needed to drop the collateral. They were very understanding and worked with me to figure something out. A friend of mine who banks with NBT was shocked to find out that I never get charged draft fees, no matter how many times I use my debit card in stores. When I go out shopping I usually swipe it 20+ times with no charges against me. He was being charged around five dollars a day every time he went over two swipes. Something like that anyway.
November 23, 2010 18:10:57 Townsman   The new building is being paid for jointly by member donations and by recycling the old buildings materials. Any fees associated with your ATM card were pre-existing, as I have not had any fees taken out when I have used it. Is your debit card from another bank or credit union? That would cause applicable fees, as NBT charges me around two dollars to use their ATM for each transaction. So if I check my balance, and then do a withdrawal, I am charged about four dollars. I'm sure SFCU does (and has always) done the same to any NBT or Wilbur customers that use their ATM.
November 23, 2010 07:52:40 JP   Did anyone harvest the " masonville evil bear " ? or seen him.. AKA Shear road evil bear..????
November 23, 2010 01:09:02 Les   Still a member of sfcu. But will never bank there again.Looks like a big waste(their new building).Guess their living high on the hog now.I don't care what their interest rates are.I won't go to a place that treats you like a statistic. The first time I walked into the national bank of delaware county in Franklin and Walton I was greated by good hometown people, and their loan officers treated me with nothing but respect. No complaints.
November 22, 2010 12:35:27 Observer   Went over to SFCU this morning. First time I have been there. Used the cash machine. Now I know how they are going to pay for the Tajmahal of Sidney!! I put bankers right in the same group as lawyers and politicians and other bottom feeders.
November 22, 2010 11:28:12 Chris W.   Just Harvested a Nice 9 Point Buck Just off shears rd. The first part of the state forest on shears road,. Just 500 yards in to the trail. right before the pines. 9 pointer - 212 3/4 pounds dressed. after i shot this one, there was another one much bigger then this but a 4 pointer. ( bigger mass of body ) I am not a hunter for antlers just for meat..
November 21, 2010 14:44:41 TX   OK,here we go ,a friend catch this deer almost at dark by the 4 corners by the time he and his buddy were done gutting, cleaning and all the good stuff it was dark, his friend decides to take some pictures with a I phone, now picture #1 good ,my friend with deer on ground, pic # 2 1 second later same position BUT now a white shadow is on my friends left side and a face is on it,a nasty face ,not very friendly ,pic #3 1 second later no shadow, pic #4 1 second later still no shadow.I saw the pic.no foul play or anything funny, because I saw them about a hour after they were taken, think this area has some history and some ghost that are not at rest.
November 20, 2010 15:46:55 Aa   Congrats kathy thanks for the info,,,,
November 20, 2010 14:27:02 Kathy K   I got a 6 pointer just northeast of the Shears Rd area. LOTS of shots this morning. Going back to those lights on Shears Road, I wonder if that\'s some sort of newfangled stealth helicopter from Lockheed Martin. I remember years ago some helicopters would fly around in a diamond formation at night near Middletown, NY (the city in Orange County, not the town) and they were quiet. Most people mistook them for UFO\'s, including me, but then a report came out about them being helicopters...or so they say.
November 20, 2010 13:19:43 Aa   Any luck today on opening
November 19, 2010 23:42:11 Dianne   I found this article today, maybe someone from Masonville can identify the photo ? www.co.delaware.ny.us/departments/hist/hist.htm Delaware County Historian announced that a County wide program will be started this year to help the residents to protect the pictures they presently have and also to offer the opportunity to have them recorded so that their descendants would still be able to view them into the next century. The importance was recognized when a woman donated a large group of photos to the County. After reviewing them it was noted that most were from the Town of Masonville. Two of them were Tintypes (Ferrotypes) that had dramatically deteriorated due to moisture that had caused rusting on the metal surface. Even more recent photos showed deterioration in the form of fading on these black and white photos. More reflected damage due to moisture caused by humidity and heat which reflected storage in a place like the cellar, attic or barn. The two Tintypes were of a husband and wife who surprisingly were born before Delaware County was formed in 1797. What a tragedy if their descendants would never get to view these pictures. A visit will be made to all the Delaware County Towns so that the residents will be invited to bring their photos and negatives so that they might be reviewed by the noted archival photographer, Alan Galowitz, whose company handled such work for major Companies and Museums in the New York City area. After examination the residents have the option of returning home with their photos and a better understanding of what they must do with archival material and storage. For those who want to have their photos recorded for long time preservation, they can leave their photos which will be returned to them after properly recorded for long term storage. For those who would like to avoid taking care of them, they can be donated to Delaware County to assure that they are stored in a proper archival manner. Each of the Town Supervisors and Town Historians will be invited to provide their knowledge of the Town to assist this County Historians project. Two of the Masonville photos had no identification of the Name, Town or Year that it was taken. Help us by identifying these two men. Photo #1 had the name of "Gilmore"[click here to view photo] on the cover while Photo #2 showed the photographer as H.C. Earl of Sidney, NY. [click here to view photo] Whoever is the first to notify me at 845-676-3790 or e-mail trout7431@catskill.net will receive a FREE ARCHIVAL REVIEW of the photos that they bring to their town gathering. November 18, 2010 23:49:41 Les   Ha ha no hockey mask. But I did laugh hysterically after he asked for my blah blah form while holding onto the buttstock of his gun (he didn't pull it out).Iv'e seen a few troopers, cops, game wardens, forest rangers, dep, and the guy that runs Oquaga. And have never had one hold his gun while talking. The chip on his shoulder just makes me a little nervous. And by the way this was last year maybe he has grown up since then.
November 18, 2010 18:49:40 Observer   I believe it was a car accident in some fashion. I attended school with his father.

November 18, 2010 07:42:47 The Reaper   I`ve noticed alot of the posts in here are created from the same people just under a different POSTING NAME. I`ve also noticed the only reason behind this is to stir up the pot on certain issues brought up within this message board or to give the illusion of many others having or sharing the same problems on some issues. I find that behavior idiotic and misleading, why hide behind fake names to continue beefs or bull??? GROW UP PLEASE !!!!!!!!!
November 18, 2010 07:24:59 JB HUNT   No,. Lee will have homeland security & a Border Patrol checking all cars and trucks especialy the out of towners, plus a cash only toll. no doubt it...

November 16, 2010 23:01:06 Les   Hey thank you residents of shears rd.Ya got the resident forest ranger off our backs on the other side of Masonville. Not that I hunt illegally just don\'t like someone prying into my business.Forest ranger or not he should not have grabbed his gun when asking about cutting firewood on state land.Even if I was doing it illegally I was armed with a chainsaw and a old pickup truck.Nothing to get concerned about.Good luck to all the Masonville hunters on opening day!It\'s pretty much a holiday to most of us.And the stupid threat that I\'m going to hunt shears rd,doubt it I like my hunting virgin.
November 16, 2010 22:08:06 The Reaper   MR.Marxs Thanks for the rookie update. i`m not worried about the guy he can ask all the questions he wants. I love the Q&A part of dealing with them....LOL
November 16, 2010 22:03:38 Kathy K   I haven't seen any lights. Are they in the woods or along the road or in the sky? Do you have to be driving on Shears Rd to see the lights or can you see them by looking up the road from Rt 8 or anyplace in the valley? Maybe it's someone hunting coyote or other furbearers(?).
November 16, 2010 20:52:47 Peter   SHEAR RD..... BEWARE.. They started to log the area this week, and the loggers will make you day impossible.... they started just up the trail. and they are cutting ... if you hunt the area you may have to bring a work helment. you will not find deer or bear in the area.. they are cutting pine trees. and white oak,. trucks everywhere, and loggers making noise , seen deers and bear running out of the area.
November 16, 2010 20:47:48 MR.Marxs   The Reaper AKA TWC : Thanks for the update ! & Good Luck,... And Remember that the rookie DEC will be around looking for exuse to bother someone..
