May 16, 2011 20:31:54 bertimouse   Hey we said BARN CATS not BOB CATS nor BAG PIPES, Ha ha. Bring on the Bag pipes though; that's cool-we haven't heard 'em yet but hope to soon. My better for worser half is on the mend & I know would LOVE to hear those bagpipes in the hills, yall thanks & we're listening, ha ha. LLMV! [Long Live Masonville]!
May 16, 2011 16:24:41 DeerHunter   Watch out seen a bobcat early morning on Shear road !! Also alot of bear *CENSORED* !! Very active !!
May 16, 2011 10:35:13 CC   Maybe it was a ghost playing a bagpipe, who knows whats in those woods.
May 16, 2011 09:03:07 taxpayer   The town guys are doing what the town board suggests to Chuck to do, so maybe you should speak to Craig and the board. Maybe Chuck has given a certain amount of time to this project while the weather was bad. Also, until last week everything was mud so there was not much actual road work to do.
May 16, 2011 07:02:01 Observer #2   Glad to see updates on the town building! Heard some rumors that the town found possible asbestos and has avoided an abatement. Not to worried about the workers who expose themselves to this(Department Of Labor can deal with that), but know of families who live close to this possible danger. Could any of this asbestos talk be true? Also, where are our town guys who are suppose to be taking care of our roads, Dont mind seeing some money saved with the town guys doing work on the buildings, but maybe they should keep a reasonable balance between us saving money and them doing what they get paid to do.
May 16, 2011 01:34:33 Les   Bobcats? Their numbers are few around here, but they are Masonville residents. They sound like a baby crying or a woman screaming.I've heard them a few times, but never seen one.Seen tracks on state land miles from houses,so I don't think it could have been overgrown gigantic house cat tracks. There has been many sightings in the Walton Downsville area where they can hunt and trap them.
May 14, 2011 15:05:57 Masonville Resident   Nah...they sounded nice. Nothing like Grumpy explained.
May 14, 2011 13:49:54 Observer   Bagpipes? Well that answers Grumpy's question about hearing what he thought was an animal being tortured. It was someone playing bagpipes.
May 14, 2011 13:15:12 Masonville Resident   Who was playing those beautiful bagpipes this morning? What a pleasant thing to hear in the mountains. Thought I was the only Scottish lad up here but I guess not.
May 14, 2011 13:12:17 Masonville Resident   We are finally getting some rain, it was getting so dry. All kidding aside, we had a beautiful sunny week and lots of lawns are mowed and lots of field corn planted, still a long way to go to catch up but a very nice start.
May 14, 2011 03:06:50 bertimouse   Hi Observer: we were talking about \"Smart Outdoor Cats\" You know; like Barn Cats?-Not your average visiting FAT indoor-for-show types, & we were talking about SPRINGTIME not WINTER critter hunger & hunting. But Thanks for your discussion. Let\'s talk more about Free Range Chickens. We\'d like to hear some more about this, Thanks.
May 13, 2011 10:43:35 Observer   Grumpy you probably interrupted a fight between two adult male raccoons. They can make a horrible ruckus when not agreeing about something. (generally a girlfriend). We were camping at Little Pond on year and during the night a couple of raccoons got into a fight right under the camper we were staying in. My Word!! It sounded like two very angry women going at each other. LOL.
May 13, 2011 10:34:37 Observer   Why would anyone think the Eastern Coyote will not kill cats? The coyotes around here are creatures of opportunity. They consume just about anything. They eat berries, rodents, carrion, vegetation etc and when abundant they will eat numerous insects. They will and do kill and eat any animal smaller than they are and if hungry enough in the winter will take on an adult whitetail. They are known to have an impact on the fawn population in the spring. While a coyote will not, by choice, pursue a healthy cat or small dog. They can and do attack and kill them if the opportunity presents itself. Like almost any wild animal they prefer not to interact with humans but due to the congestion and infringement into their natural habitat by humans, interaction between coyotes and humans and their pets will become more common. Free range chickens were mentioned as victims of coyotes. Free range or cooped chickens are fair game for just about all the carnivores in the world include humans. LOL
May 12, 2011 23:44:25 bertimouse   Coyotes will NOT kill cats. Most Coyotes&Outdoor Cats are Smart Enough to Hunt their Easiest Prey;DUH. We had an outdoor cat in Unadilla for 14 yrs up in Bear,Coyote &Fox ranges with NO Problems.Only thing we lost were free-range chickens without their fighting Roosters; again-DUH. IT'S NOT THE ANIMALS,IT'S THEIR OWNERS that have[& cause most of]the problems.
May 12, 2011 23:22:34 bertimouse   Hi Grumpy: Lots of critters Screech At Night This Time Of Year, ha ha. There be mating rituals for fox, possum,skunk,ferral-cats,badjers,chipmunks,squirrels, skunks & the like that wake U up&make U think a CHILD IS DYING! :) Deer,Bear&Coyotes have already mated & have either birthed already[deer&bear]or will be birthing very soon[coyote]. -Funny how the smaller critters[& US]make the most noise, eh? ;)
May 12, 2011 17:52:37 Steve   Need stuff hauled for Masonville clean-up days? Call Grays Garage and Hauling at 265-3741 or 265-3761
May 12, 2011 14:26:06 CC   Hey Grumpy, you made that male Coyote very MAD!!!!!
May 12, 2011 11:03:03 Grumpy Ernst Keidel No bear report, but this morning I was awakened by a very loud and terrible animal in pain scream! And then another and another! Wondering what poor animal was being tortured to death on my property. I ventured out on my front deck and shone my flashlight into the direction of the screams. Two sets of eyes reflected back at me, just across from my front yard border fence.. They started running back and forth, still screeching and finally ran off in separate directions. I went back to bed and concluded that I had broken up an amorous tryst of two coyotes. Of course, that is just one of the reasons why I insist that our kittycats do not roam outside after dark.
May 11, 2011 12:42:18 fyi   Masonville Junk days on May 13th and 14th from 7:00 to 5:00 (per minutes)
May 10, 2011 19:17:29 funsucker   Anyone know what the times are for clean up days?
May 10, 2011 16:34:12 CC   Anybody with a Bear report ?
May 10, 2011 08:17:24 Masonville Resident   Do not forget that clean up days are this week. A great chance to get rid of all of that junk by your house and garage and keep everyone happy (your spouse). This is a great opportunity this year with gas prices so high.
May 08, 2011 23:53:20 bertimouse   Us too.
May 07, 2011 14:34:29 Curious Masonviller   Observer Thank you for the answer!
May 03, 2011 19:01:13 bertimouse   Thanks Observer & ALL for your prayers...turns out NO stent was needed. The first thing the surgeon asked was "Why wasn't the 3rd test done before this procedure?" I'm not impressed with that Oneonta Doctor who apparently recommended to just go & have this done to save $! And you wonder why health care costs so much nowadays! TG we have health insurance. All we needed was to change the blood pressure medicine! Learned allot of valuable lessons though: 1)Life is precious. 2)If anyone needs any incentive for taking better care of themselves just spend a day in the cardiac care unit of ANY hospital. 3)I'd rather be at Wilson Hospital than Albany Medical because Wilson treats you more like a person, not a brother fell off his horse & was there for a week; thought he'd ripped his Aorta...BIG difference in treatment; also closer though I heard Wilson has been cutting back on their heart program facilities, though they still have really good Cardiologists there. 4)My heart must be pretty strong from surviving 72+ hours of incredible STRESS. 5)The Unity Prayer line is great. Thanks again everyone & Have a Wonderful Mother's Day Celebration even if your Mom's in Heaven. Yesterday I heard a stupid commercial on the radio that was advertising something but their beginning point was to Celebrate all the things that your Mom has done for you. We both realized that we can also be Part of the Celebration instead of mourning because they're not here anymore, you know? All Mom's want their children no matter what age to be happy. OK Nuff said. Thanks again & again for your prayers.
May 03, 2011 09:15:26 MV Resident   JUST SAW A WHOLE FAMLIY OF BEARS ! mama,papa,3 cubs! they were crossing RT 8 in to the Golf Area. Just north of the Ice Cream Station and Shear Rd. May 02, 2011 10:55:02 Mike Hall   Got back home for a week. Visited my mom in Wilson hospital. Rivers were high but not flooded anymore. We have been so dry in San Antonio we are already in Drought stage 1. So I was hoping to see a little rain and take some with me when I fly back south. I got a chance to enjoy the cooler air. I always try and read the happenings in Masonville and share some small town memories with my son, so he knows how America in my opinion should be.
May 02, 2011 10:24:58 Observer   Clean up days basically allows most everything except household garbage and vehicles as I understand it.
May 01, 2011 19:16:35 Curious Masonviller   The clean up days is May 15th and 16th correct, and what is allowed and not allowed??
April 29, 2011 18:25:36 TOM Webmaster   Town Of Masonville Official web page is up and running. Thank you for your patience.
April 28, 2011 22:10:19 Masonville Resident   Bicentenial celebration - July 16
April 28, 2011 22:02:24 Mormon Hollow Farm   As many know we lost yet another member of our community this past week. Our prayers go to the family of Dan Dean who passed away last Saturday after a very short illness. Dan will be greatly missed by my family and by his many friends and relatives.
April 28, 2011 12:57:51 Observer   Bertimouse - I had heart surgery at St Petes in Albany. I had a heart valve replaced and 3 bypass grafts. If your husband is going there he will get great care. We will be in prayer for him and you as you face this together. It is scary and it is worrisome but in the end worth the pain. The very worst part is the first night and the first time they get one up for a walk about 24 hours after surgery.
April 28, 2011 12:54:14 TOM Webmaster   TOM webpage temporarily out of commission. Will soon be up and running.
April 28, 2011 11:20:34 Masonville General Store Looks like the official town web page is defunct... Anyone know the date of our Bicentennial celebration?
April 27, 2011 23:41:24 bertimouse   My better half has to have asap Heart Surgery in Albany this Friday. I'm beside myself thinking how I'd ever be able to manage...Oh Please God, not again with yet another Loved one & this my most beloved & so soon yet again! Help me to be the strong, calm & quiet one now. My heart aches & I'm so afraid. All of TOM'S prayers would be greatly appreciated now, Thanks as my Faith is pretty low at the moment...I don't know what will happen.
April 27, 2011 20:52:43 Grumpy Ernst Keidel "Those bears arent that big around here, especially right now. You were probably looking at a 250lb bear." You know, I weigh just a tad under 300lb and always dress in all-black. Are you sure you didn't mistake me for one of those bears?
April 26, 2011 20:57:43 bertimouse   The ice cream shop was open 2 wks. ago Saturday. Happy Spring Yall! :) Time to get our hands into some(argh) dry dirt soon?
April 26, 2011 15:45:11 snowman   Oh yea ice cream sounds good on a day like today or even better Italian ice... lemon for me.
April 26, 2011 07:56:51 CC   May be he was waiting for the ice cream place to open to get inthere and make another mess, like last year. dont think he would seat by church just to see traffic going by,he is not Yogi.
April 26, 2011 02:20:08 Les   There is no poofy fur on a black bear,we ain't talking about a teddy bear.
April 25, 2011 06:46:33 Craftsman   Those bears arent that big around here, especially right now. You were probably looking at a 250lb bear. Strip all that poofy fur off them and theres nothing to em.
April 23, 2011 07:28:26 Grumpy Ernst Keidel A HAPPY BIRTHDAY wish today to our Town Supervisor Craig DuMond!
April 21, 2011 21:34:18 Observer   Saw the same bear about 7:30 this AM in the field near County Rte 20. He was headed east toward the Hamlet in the field back of my house. I just figured he was headed to the Crescent Wrench Cafe for coffee.
April 21, 2011 16:46:23 masonville resident   Just saw a big black bear in the crosses. rt 8 & 206 it was siting at the slope of the churche's front lawn watching traffic going by . Nick thick black fur. weighinh about 450-500 # atleast. people stopping and taking pics. and even the MV animal was there !
April 21, 2011 12:21:44 Robin Little   The Masonville Evil Bear is on the move I think. He is traveling north on Route 8. The night before last my bird feeders were hit. One knocked over and cleaned out, the suet cake taken from another, and the third set of feeders he took one of the feeders across the road. He sat it by a tree upright and didn't eat any of the seeds, maybe saving it for a snack later. The foot prints he left are huge. It looks like he stepped over the guardrail.
April 21, 2011 08:49:45 Grumpy Ernst Keidel APRILWETTER, or typical April weather, as it's known in Germany. Sunshine, overcast, rain and snow, all in one day! Was extremely surprised to see what appeared to be a snow squall, looking out my window at about 7:30 this morning. Indeed, but the mild temperatures are keeping anything from sticking; flakes melt as soon as they hit the ground. Spring is really battling to get established. Pretty, colorful flowers are emerging along my driveway, seemingly surprised by the snow!
April 20, 2011 23:06:53 bertimouse   Masonville Resident: Good luck with that & your 500 feet's worth of shooting range away from others. Think that may be either a County or State law.
April 20, 2011 22:53:29 bertimouse   Not only is this Good Friday & Easter weekend coming up, but Friday,April 22nd is also EARTH DAY every year. We'd like to speak about that a bit: Tonight we saw a PBS show called "Power Surge...can Technology save us from Climate Change?" -it was very informative & check it out on They said that 1 New NUKE plant would equal 3,000 Wind Generators, which would also Equal 50 miles of 1 Solar plant; so that some folks will just have to "put up with" those things somewhere. NOT! We here say. -It was VERY INTERESTING to us that they didn't mention ANYTHING about any studies being done ANYWHERE by all these Billionaires about how if enough individual homes installed THEIR OWN wind gennys & solar panels to be 80% INDEPENDENT what the carbon savings would be. Some facts(?): 1 car driven 10K miles per year equals 2 TONS of carbon into the atmosphere for your grandkids to breath. Average U.S. family generates 14 tons of Carbon which combined with the atmosphere goes up as 50 TONS per year. Right now the planet is putting up 9 BILLION TONS per year & by 2020 it'll be back to the measured pre-historic levels. Saudi Arabia is now pumping their carbon pressurized gas into the earth;in order to reduce their carbon emissions, but this program stated that they can physically measure "Earth movement" caused by this. We believe this is causing Earthquakes now DUH & is probably under secret study by our own government as we speak. -It doesn't take a Rocket Scientist to figure out that when you put pressure on one thing; something else has to give. That's basic scientific law. OK Nuff said. Happy Easter Yall.
April 20, 2011 18:57:10 CC   Why is all around Shears Rd ?
April 18, 2011 21:55:49 DCSO   FEET THAT IS
April 18, 2011 21:54:25 dcso   500" of an occupied building
April 18, 2011 16:58:40 Grumpy Ernst Keidel Sorry about the typo in the last message. That's yards, not years wihin an occupied dwelling.
April 18, 2011 16:55:40 Grumpy Ernst Keidel As far as I know, there is no anti-gun law in Masonville. You just need to observe the common state laws, like don't shoot across a road or within so many years of an occupied dwelling. I go armed all the time and, on my acreage, often practice rapid weapon deployment and accurate shooting. Many a Slim-Fast can has given its life to that purpose.
April 18, 2011 16:10:03 Masonville Resident   Thanks for clearing that up Observer. My friends come over on weekends (not every weekend) and we do some target shooting in a confined area. It does get noisy at times but everything is at targets only and into a side of the hill towards the back of my property. There are no homes in site providing a stray ricochet finds an errant path. We clean up after ourselves and enjoy a few drinks and BBQ after the shooting is done. I didn't think there was anything wrong with this especially since it's my 2nd amendment right to bear arms. As for the homeless person, we will seek him out and try to provide assistance. Enjoy the fine weather!
April 18, 2011 15:43:10 Observer   Doubt there is any law about discharging a firearm on your own property. The people in back of me every weekend in the summer and fall seem to be holding a war of some kind and I have not seen any law around stopping them. ------ If someone is living in the woods whose business is that? Maybe they want to live that way. More power to them.
April 18, 2011 10:33:36 Masonville Resident   Very well said Bertimouse! Being the good person that I am, I'm going to seek out this individual and offer them some assistance. But I would still like to know if we can shoot guns on our property in a controlled/confined safe manner. Is it against the law up here?
April 18, 2011 00:53:15 bertimouse   What is it about Shear Road that generates so many stories about lions, tigers, bears & now a crazy man, Oh MY! Lord Forgive us that anyone in the TOM should be smoking & drinking in the Woods, Oh MY! To Masonville Concern resident: Maybe a different hobby besides watching what your neighbors do without any action on your part would be Good For You. If this guy Truly "lost everything" & said "the woods were his" like you say he told you; then why the L didn't YOU try & Help Him? [DUH & SHAME ON YOU for being such a coward for your NON-ACTION.] Why do you have to Ask Anyone Here what you've supposedly witnessed with Your Own EYES & EARS? ACTION FROM ALL SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS! This Holy Week Sir; find him if you can & help him or let us help him because Dude; we've ALL LOST allot since 2008. We ALL know how HURT feels; unfortunately some more than others...compassion brother; feel that next time you meet "the crazy man in the woods".
April 17, 2011 09:02:42 Masonville Resident   @ CC - You can't shoot guns in Masonville, NY? Even on your own property in a controlled/contained area? Wow, that's a bummer!
April 15, 2011 12:06:06 Masonville concern resident   Have a any one saw the crazy nut ? hiking in the woods and living in the woods and possibly smoking and drinking ... the last time I saw him he was on shear rd camping about 5' away from the dirt road by the little swamp by RIP richard. ??? he said he lost everything and the woods is his now ????
April 15, 2011 09:00:30 CC   Havent seen him but I know this guy is big, just dont walk around unarmed, have to have a big side arm on you to walk around, just in case.
April 14, 2011 17:31:49 Joe thomas   CC- You better watch out! that bear is fat and hungry. his about more then 500 # lbs. just saw him at the cross roads on shear rd. he was doing a dump right on the road....!
April 14, 2011 12:46:03 CC   Was upthere last wknd, still some snow on ground, crazy neighbor shooting like a nut all kind of guns, saw some bear track,i think it is the Evil Masonville Bear hanging around again.6 1/2 inches wide paws, good size bear aint he?fresh on snow, few hours before, not even 6 hours old
April 11, 2011 23:42:54 bertimouse   Yah & then there\'s the last surprise BIG SNOWSTORM with high winds. Then the high winds with hail & tornadoes & floods to watch out for after that. NAH. We have a feeling here that This Spring Will Be OK with none of that stuff. =Again; just a feeling here. OK Let\'s take bets! ;)
April 11, 2011 14:40:45 snowman   The warm air feels good but I\'m starting to melt. Out of the freezer into the frying pan.
April 11, 2011 00:55:14 RangerDanger   Kind of ruins this nice 80 degree weather that they are calling for with the thunderstorm that is supposedly going to happen.
April 08, 2011 10:59:36 CC   FINALLY !! WEATHER BROKE.
April 05, 2011 16:49:21 CC   PINICS? not till July at the rate of this weather.
April 04, 2011 15:59:35 Masonville resident   time to keep a smile on our faces. We could be having more snow, so rain in not so bad after all. Soon we will be mowing lawns and having picnics! So enjoy each day for what it has to offer.
April 04, 2011 07:51:38 Grumpy Ernst Keidel Except Spring doesn\'t seem that happy today! Not only is it raining, it is windy enough for me to have gone outside to take down my flag!
April 03, 2011 23:20:58 bertimouse   Oh Stop, nuff said. Yall love to tease us & that's OK with us. Happy Spring! :)
April 03, 2011 17:55:39 nuff said   wow berti, that is the first thing you have ever said that wasnt annoying
April 03, 2011 00:16:27 Les   AMEN
April 02, 2011 19:51:16 bertimouse   The Density of people in society is so thick that we forget how short life is & could end any day. Most of us don't know when that one day will be so tell ALL the Folks you know &Love&Care for that they are Special and Important. That includes the Animals, too! NEVER be too busy to say I LOVE YOU! NEVER be too busy to HUG anyone, eh? NEVER be too busy to help a neighbor or stranger out if they need it. AMEN it maybe the last thing you do on Earth.
April 01, 2011 13:15:54 RCL   Jeri,Thanks for the article; you didn't hurt my feelings. Do you have anymore info about the Bloxham house? or a picture? It is interesting to see how the town has evolved.
March 31, 2011 21:27:57 bertimouse   Wondering: NOPE. A Wake is what TOM basically does every Memorial Day don't you think? TOM needs to Celebrate it's 200th Year of SURVIVAL: Past,Present & Future. We here think that it should be a JUBILEE with Much Good Time Celebration, Good Food & Good Music. OK we hope it's mostly Blue Grass, Country & Blues but that's just us Hoping. :)
March 31, 2011 15:15:19 Wondering   Nothing against a bi-centential but wouldn't a wake be more appropriate with the cemetery as a centerpiece?
March 30, 2011 08:00:31 Mormon Hollow Farm   Did not mean to hurt your feelings Robin. I was only going by the newspaper article which I sent you.
March 30, 2011 07:57:27 Masonville resident forever   as one who has lived here forever, you never trust the roads in the state land until mid may. Mud, snow and whatever, are always the unknown out there.
March 29, 2011 18:54:01 majtom   Does anyone know if Steam mill rd is passable up in the state land ?
March 29, 2011 17:04:34 RCL   Jerri, If you look back at a previous posting. I said that Mr. Banner had told that my house was build with materials from the mill, not the Bloxham House. My floors show spots where it is worn by tools, carts, and machinery.
March 28, 2011 19:56:21 Mormon Hollow Farm   Just saw a newspaper article which stated who tore the buildings down in 1941 to build our (new) school. I found it interesting that 2 of these were torn down by Masonville residents. John Young, the mill and Mr. Banner, the Bloxham house. Since Robin Little was told her home was built at this time, possible from the Bloxam house, since Mr. Banner had told her father. There was another house and a store house.
March 27, 2011 19:06:17 bertimouse   The TOM 200th Anniversary Parade will be on Saturday, July 16th. Only 4 more TOMB Mtgs. till then. First Wednesday of the month is when they're held. Be there or be Square this Spring, eh?
March 26, 2011 11:57:56 Grumpy Ernst Keidel BTW, speaking of April's meeting: those of you who are interested in the planning and/or participation of Masonville's Bi-Centennial Parade, should come an hour earlier. The Parade Planning Committee will convene at 6:30 at the same venue.
March 26, 2011 07:46:27 Masonville resident   Clean up date will probably be set at the April town meeting, first wed. of month.
March 26, 2011 07:02:35 Sharon Maggio When are the town's clean up days this year?
March 26, 2011 02:06:03 bertimouse   AT&T has a great "Safety Video" about TEXT-TING WHILE DRIVING! Check it out - all schools should show this to their students. All local police & fire depts. should sponsor showing this short video. It would save young lives Now!
March 26, 2011 00:30:56 bertimouse   At least our Crocuses are poking up Now. Wish Everyone Else had the Same Optimistic View & Sense of Life Every Year that Our Mother Nature Does. OK, We'll crawl back into our Listening Hole with the Bluegrass & Blues Music again, AMEN.
March 23, 2011 13:19:51 RangerDanger   Gotta love Delaware County. :D
March 23, 2011 08:53:50 Mormon Hollow Farm   Does anyone remember the 6 inches of snow we got on May 12,1973? Now that was depressing, this is just March in Delaware Co., a foot of snow today and 60 and the sun and flowers are out next week. Enjoy, this is why we live here, never a dull moment.
March 23, 2011 07:17:12 CC   Just hate it !! :( ,but Spring is here :)
March 23, 2011 06:00:28 snowman   Whats wrong not happy to see me? . Im back and this time i'll stick around awhile.
March 22, 2011 21:49:55 bertimouse   Oh CC get over it. Buck up just like the Robins have to. One thing that personally ticks us off is folks complaining, complaining, complaining. If it 'aint the weather then it's local politics or whatever. 'Aint there nothing really beautiful nor Thankful nor nothing that you want to Help Someone Local or Otherwise in your life to talk about? OK, Whatever. CC you don't have to answer us. We're depressed enough about nobody giving a rats behind any where's we see. Just everyone picking on everyone else & nobody getting together. Guess we gotta listen to some good time Bluegrass & Blues Music tonight, nuff said & Amen for that.
March 20, 2011 21:45:14 Les   The bald eagle I spotted many times near the Unadilla fishing access parking lot made the front page of the Oneonta Daily Star a year or two ago.The picture was the same as we kept seeing it.Perched on a branch \'fishing\'.
March 20, 2011 19:38:16 bertimouse   Hi again Mormon Hollow Farm & Les now too! Forgot to say how Cool is was for yall to spot an Eagle. There's a nesting site North of us; but they may have been looking for fish nearer to us because of the Pepacton Reservoir, yes? In any case any sightings should be reported to the DEC Endangered Species Unit whenever you see them: *Adult eagles between April 15 and June 15(this could lead to the discovery of new nesting pairs). *Four or more eagles in one location, especially after 3 pm(this could reveal a significant winter roost site). *Eagles with colored wing tags or leg bands. March 20, 2011 00:15:12 Les   I seen the same bald eagle many times going to Oneonta, perched on a big branch looking for fish.
March 19, 2011 15:52:18 Grumpy Ernst Keidel Driving past our home today, you may have noticed my flag at half-staff. It was today, in 1945, that my brother and sister were killed by an allied bombing of our apartment house in Hamburg, Germany. My sister was 2½ years, my brother 7 months old. For this reason I was born and raised an only-child.
March 19, 2011 06:14:59 Grumpy Ernst Keidel CDR. About a week ago or so, my wife and I saw a bald eagle cruising aloft between Exits 9 and 10. He was low enough to clearly make out his markings. Man, that's a big, beautiful bird. We were suitably impressed. Did I say he was big? Oh yeah!
