December 23, 2012 23:52:38 what?   Hey, salt will destroy a dirt driveway also, use sand, you get grip on the ice, the sun melts the ice with the dark sand and leaves you with a nice hard(frozen)driveway.Use salt and you have a slick mudd mess. Salt also kills bluestone and concrete, so refrain from using it on your sidewalk. Calcium chloride is safer, but keep in mind, it is the rapid freeze then thaw that is doing the most harm. Just use sand.
December 23, 2012 23:02:10 Reasonable   Many of our Town roads are still too soft to run a heavy 10-wheel dump truck on. They would do nothing but significantly damage the roads and cost us major money to fix in the spring. Smart idea using the smaller truck that wouldnt destroy the roads. Maybe you should make an appointment to "shadow" the super for a day...walk in his shoes and see what he actually does before you cast any stones. At least he works full-time as one of the workers and does not just sit back and collect a check like many others. Also, almost anyone knows that salt will DESTROY a dirt road...geeze...get informed!
December 23, 2012 21:53:19 Observer   I recall riding to a one room school in horse sledge. Then when the schools consolidated I remember the school bus coming to pick us up on snowy days by the method of a farmer pulling the bus by horses or tractor, if he had one, to the next farm and then that farmer pulling us to the next farm etc. Then reversing the process coming back. We are so spoiled we have forgotten how to drive on snow or ice or dirt roads.
December 23, 2012 21:03:51 bertimouse   Please all in TOM. This is just the Begining of Winter, not even Christmas EVE yet.
December 23, 2012 18:37:31 Me   You have to know when to use salt and that is never on a dirt road or you will see what a real mess is. Maybe you should really do some research and find out how to do road word.. The super is doing a fine job
December 23, 2012 15:28:12 TX-1   Now you know how it feels to drive on Shears rd,with no sand or salt.
December 23, 2012 11:24:45 Prowd of Masonville   I drove on all the roads in Masonville during deer season. I found them to be in good shape for this area. Whats your problem? Just slow down and enjoy the views. The State and Federal roads are worse and they spend BILLONS more!
December 23, 2012 06:55:23 Not me.   Sounds like someone is trying to make the highway Supervisor look bad. I think the roads are what would be expected when we have winter weather. I have no complaints and I drive Steam Mill alot!
December 23, 2012 05:46:58 Me too again   I stand corrected The highway suretendent had the men use a pickup truck on Friday. Saturday not bad but nos sand roads ice all day. Just thought Me would like to know what really happened. Me you should get out more.
December 23, 2012 05:41:18 me too   Me, I was not impressed . They were plowing the town roads with a pickup truck. 2 cars could not pass each other without going over the plowed snow, ruined my exchaust. Can not figure this highway supertendent out. If he is trying to save money for the taxpayers by not giing the maintenance that is owed we will all be trashing our cars. Also watch out the potholes are now buried with snow and ice and it could be dangerous with the ice and snow on the road. I know of a couple of people who need jobs and want to run for the position. Is it true that the salary is over 50,000 a year with full benifits and all vacations. I'll bet there should be a good amount of people running, Me, the men did a great job again their leadership ,has failed them and again they have failed. Lets vote everyone.
December 22, 2012 19:09:09 Observer   Those who were skillful in Anatomy among the Ancients, concluded from the outward and inward Make of an Human Body, that it was the Work of a Being transcendently Wise and Powerful. As the World grew more enlightened in this Art, their Discoveries gave them fresh Opportunities of admiring the Conduct of Providence in the Formation of an Human Body.
December 22, 2012 16:12:23 me   No complaints about the highway crew? They seem to have been out early so we could all go about our Sat. business. Thank you guys!

December 21, 2012 22:57:40 what?   "Germans who wish to use firearms should join the SS or the SA - ordinary citizens don't need guns, as their having guns doesn't serve the State."Heinrich Himmler,,,Obama?,,,Berti?
December 21, 2012 22:50:17 what?   "They don’t look at a chainsaw and think of dismembered people, they don’t look at automobiles as the tool of the drunk driver, and it is this bizarre mysticism of some shallow minds that the gun has a personality. Guns save lives. Anti-gunners have created these gun free zones where more lives have been lost. The most evil empires start by disarming their subjects, meanwhile 99 percent of gun owners in America have never caused a problem.Every study on crime and or firearms proves time and time again, that 99.99999% of American gun owners do not commit crimes or use our firearms in any dangerous or improper way." December 21, 2012 22:45:16 what?   I woke up at 4am to no power, I tried to call NYSEG at 7am, and NO PHONE, it's HERE! THE END! Drove up the road to use my cell, their computer said 113 homes without power, estimated fix 4pm. Fired up the generator and turned on the TV to the news, WOOHOO real people out their still alive! And guess what? Not one single death in the area with a gun involved! Not even with all the 'assault' weapons in Masonville.
December 21, 2012 19:01:01 Old Fa rt   HEY!! this world is not ending, today anyway
December 21, 2012 18:59:10 Old Fa rt   So peaceful here today,i think everybody is in hiding, waiting for the end of the world.
December 20, 2012 12:07:45 Observer   How could anyone have the unmitigated gall to suggest that God gives anyone the Free Will to murder unborn children? And what does the Second Commandment have to do with anything you said? You have made some absolutely ridiculous statements on this site but you have outdone yourself with this one. On one hand you decree that God gives us the Free Will to murder unborn children while on the other you are mouthing platitudes about peace and good will. By your reasoning the guy who just murdered 26 people had the Free Will from God to do so. What is the difference between murdering children in the womb or waiting until they are six then murder them?
December 19, 2012 22:07:52 bertimouse   OK last thought 5:My Mom always said:By the Laws of Nature Like things attract Like.Evil attracts evil.ALWAYS think GOOD THOUGHTS! I miss my Mom most during Christmas and New Years:its been painful and lonely without her so all of you TOM residents have a Most Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year. Count your Blessings because they are More Than Most. Be kind. Be Loving. Remember Gods second commandment. OK Nuff said. :)
December 19, 2012 22:00:41 bertimouse   Thought 4:Those that just cant stand to have an OMG Black AND OMG Democrat as a President are very clear here. So much Hate,so little Respect for the President of these United States:thats sad. Back in the old days Everyone respected their President, their Commander in Chief:whether They-We-Them won or not. There is so much Hate and Darkness in this world nowadays. It helps NO ONE on this planet right now-begining HERE-at this message board-to spread bad thoughts.
December 19, 2012 21:45:59 bertimouse   Thought 3:Seriously I dont understand why anyone would need a semi-auto rifle with 100 round clips for hunting but am not for gun control because Mental Idiots will always find a way to kill babies and innocent people. Heres some ideas to improve school security:a:have an automatic Pepper-spray system similar to a fire sprinkler system in all school entry lobbies where if the buzz-in door system is breeched then the spray would be directed at the door. b:smaller door windows at all entries so that if you shot the window out you still couldnt reach in to unlock the door.c:have an automatic alarm Lock-Down bell similar to an exit-door alarm that sounds the minute any buzz-in door is opened improperly.d:have all teachers and admin staff armed and well-trained in the use of high-powered Pepper-spray. It can shoot 20 feet and you can take someone down in 3 seconds with it. In these ways, our children wouldnt have to grow up with armed guards in their elementary schools at least:and isnt THOSE the critical, impressionable years?
December 19, 2012 21:27:57 bertimouse   Thought 2:Dear What:-The Old ways of raising families?-Seriously?-GONE a long time ago. Those that survive are those that are able to adapt to the world they live in,and in this world? All need to Have Their Faith-This is what-I believe-all children seem to lack these days:for whatever reasons.
December 19, 2012 21:23:04 bertimouse   Couple thoughts here, one at a time:1.How did Abortion come up because of this Horrific event? Are Yall prepared to deny the rights of thousands of-lets-say-minority-single-women:and then pay for, care for and adopt their thousands of babies that would be born every year from the dregs of society?Really? The TOM would Really Welcome 60 percent of Our Population OMG-minorities spawned from Democrats?Yes its a sad thing to do but GOD gives the Free Will To Chose, not Man.
December 18, 2012 16:14:19 just thinking   don't forget to vote at SHS on Jan 15, this is very important.
December 17, 2012 23:01:14 what?   Any semi auto deer rifle can shoot as fast as a fully auto when you use the bump fire method, no add-ons just a fast firing technique using the recoil to your advantage. Ak's and AR's are fun to shoot, at TARGETS! Outlawing any particular gun will not bring down crime rates.Ted Kennedy's car has killed more people than my gun. Drunk Kennedy drove off a bridge with a young woman in the back seat.It was nine hours before he reported the accident. In the meantime, he walked back to his motel, complained to the manager about a noisy party, took a shower, went to sleep, ordered newspapers when he woke up and spoke to a friend and two lawyers before finally calling the police. Divers later estimated that if he had called them immediately, they would have had time to pull out Mary Jo. She had not drowned, but had survived in an air pocket inside the car - she was asphyxiated only when the oxygen ran out several hours later. Was Kennedy banned, NO, a two-year suspended sentence and the loss of his driving license for a year. He had been allowed to plead guilty to no more than the charge of leaving the scene of an accident. And he stayed well respected by the Democrat party for many years.
December 17, 2012 21:40:14 Old Fa rt   Military guns dont belong in civilians hands, hunting rifles sre something, but this kind of guns no,why would you need a gun like that, know a guy that has a couple of AK-47 fully auto, for what?
December 17, 2012 21:32:33 wshbown   there is no way to get rid of guns. like drugs .what is the statistic about drunk driving and how many children were killed this year .they wont ban achohol. like terrorist, they will adapt to the situation
December 17, 2012 20:15:58 Old Fa rt   In communist country NO one is allowed to have guns,SOOO get my drift.
December 17, 2012 19:02:44 Reasonable   Yeah, the left-wing anti-gun nuts will be out in force to strip our 2nd amendment rights from us. Instead of further gun control maybe we should ramp up security in schools, such as an assigned resource officer. Or maybe train certain staff members in firearms use and have weapons secured in strategic locations and readily available for deployment. Schools are prime targets for a nut with a gun....everyone knows there are no guns present due to current law, gun-free school zones, etc. Enabling designated staff to protect the school would certainly act as a significant deterrent and give them the ability to at least respond to an active shooter.
December 17, 2012 12:58:33 Observer   Yes Germany is the perfect example of what gun control can do for a country. We should learn by it. The first thing the Nazi's did was outlaw guns in the hands of the populace and it got us a world war. It was a forgone conclusion that the horrible tragedy in Newtown, CT would once again bring the liberals to the table with the cry of "get rid of the guns". Myself, I fear any government where only the military and law enforcement has guns. I keep thinking of the case in CA a few years ago where law enforcement fired over two hundred rounds at point blank range and never hit the guy they were shooting at. Or the nearby situation a few years ago where law enforcement shot a house to pieces and even killed one of their own and never hit the guy they were shooting at. Yes, for heavens sake lets leave guns to the "professionals". If a person is setting out to kill someone it can be done with a rock or the bare hands. Guns are just easier.
December 17, 2012 11:05:10 what?   Democrat Congressman Jerrold Nadler is pushing for tougher gun control. He sites tough gun control Germany, only 170 killed with guns, and the US 9,000. If you take into consideration that Germany is about the size of one of our 50 states, with 232 million fewer people, the statistics are about the same even with their tough gun control. China has very strict gun control. On March 23, 2010 at elementary school in China a man killed eight and wounding several others, with a knife. A year later a knife-wielding man attacked elementary school students in southern Guangdong province, wounding 16 students and a teacher. No one died. The next day, a man in Jiangsu province barged into a kindergarten and stabbed 31 people, including 28 students, two teachers and one security guard. Then,a man barged into a village school in Shandong province, carrying a hammer and a can of gasoline, attacking preschool students with the hammer, causing head injuries. He then set himself on fire and died.Guns are strictly controlled in China, but until recently possession of large knives were not. Chinese authorities have recently issued a regulation requiring people to register with their national ID cards when they buy knives longer that 15 centimeters(5.9 inches). Obama has of yet pushed for any gun restrictions. After the Colorado shooting in July, the White House made clear that Obama would not propose new gun restrictions in an election year and said he favored better enforcement of existing laws.Yesterday Obama said that in the coming weeks, he would use "whatever power this office holds" to engage with law enforcement, mental health professionals, parents and educators in an effort to prevent more tragedies like Newtown.
December 17, 2012 10:42:26 just another voter   Maybe instead of a new athletic field we should vote for better school security, killing our kids is getting closer to home all of the time. Do not forget to vote Jan. 15 at the high school.
December 17, 2012 09:51:26 Just me   People kill people, they make the choice, not the gun. So if we take away guns because they kill, are we going to take knives away as they kill also? What about hands, are we going to cut off everyone's hands because they can be used to kill someone? Next we won't be able to speak as that can hurt someone also.
December 17, 2012 08:46:54 MV Resident   I think that jerk in CT which shot all those people shall be brought to MV's Woods and let the Bears and Coyotes eat him just like an animal because he is a animal. what a jerk
December 16, 2012 23:31:21 what?   Wshbown,Observer is right in bringing up abortion in this situation, it goes to what we think is right and wrong in regards to life. Some people think abortion is no big deal, but they don't realize that abortion is deemed OK in many states up to the day of birth. The baby can be legally chopped up on the same day it would have been a life if it made it passed that one inch. I don't think that is giving society a grasp on what life is. Wshbown, the rest of your statement I agree with 100%." Parents these days still want there freedom and don't want to be bothered by there kids , or teach them respect, right thing to do and say . There is to much hussle and bussle and we need to get back to the old ways of raising families."Old Fa rt, your right also,"gun control is not the solution.the illegal will find guns some how or knife or some." Take the Aurora, Colo movie theater massacre that killed twelve. The guy rigged his apartment with sophisticated bombs. He had the know how to have blown the roof off of that movie theater and killing everyone, and bombs can be made out of common everyday ingredients.Old Fa rt, you are wrong in your statement "In years past you never hear any thing like this happening"; On May 18, 1927, in Bath Township Michigan 38 elementary school children,7-14 yrs old were killed, two teachers and four other adults and 58 other people were injured, probably mostly school children as well. The perpetrator used no guns, he used timed explosives. And then there is Obama, I think he and his teleprompter ARE sincere, but I understand Observer's skepticism, we have heard many lies from our current temporary President.
December 16, 2012 18:42:39 Old Fa rt   To me is the video games, which are very violant, bad parenting and if a kid is sick in the head do some about it,but with all the political correctnes is impossible,we need to take more care of our kids,if there is a sick kid and we see he is going the wrong way, lets do some about it. In years past you never hear any thing like this happening,it is getting worse with time and lastly.people kill people, not guns,so gun control is not the solution.the illegal will find guns some how or knife or some.
December 16, 2012 15:39:00 Observer   Wshbown - While I agree that we probably could use better parenting than we are now witnessing I think one would find that our callous attitude about violence (yes the video games are certainly nothing I would allow my children to have were they not grown up); how many today see the coralation between that callous attitude and what is going on? And yes, abortion is a big part of that callousness. If we have no regard for the unborn why should we have regard for the born? And somehow it just struck me as ingregarious when I was watching Obama speak. I certainly pray I am wrong. He has children of his own. But, when someone has been as transparent in his words and actions as he has been it is difficult to place much faith in what he is saying. Is it him or his speech writers?
December 16, 2012 11:57:55 Wshbown   I think the rapper might mean is that we just had a horrific tragedy in the country (not far away ) and all you can post is the you hope the presidents tear are real and a about abortion . Really , I also have small kids kindergarten , that\'s the last thing I was thinking . This world in getting worse and I believe it is video games and bad parenting . Parents these days still want there freedom and don\'t want to be bothered by there kids , or teach them respect, right thing to do and say . There is to much hussle and bussle and we need to get back to the old ways of raising families .
December 16, 2012 00:22:49 what?   It's kinda ironic that the poster that called you a jerk uses a screen name of a rap band ( Yes I did listen to them when I was a young ignorant fool) uses the screen name of a rap band that profited off the se xual exploitation of women. Nasty obscenity. Whoever it is is probably a snot nosed brat teen-ager (Smile.)
December 16, 2012 00:10:20 what?   I\'m with you also Observer, 100%. I couldn't post anything on this despicable,,, It is hard even to think about it. I have young children.
December 15, 2012 14:11:44 TX-1   Observer,am with you 100%
December 15, 2012 12:14:43 Observer   Well, probably you are correct I am a "jerk", whatever, that may be, but I am not a snot nosed brat teen-ager which you seem to be (Smile.)
December 14, 2012 16:04:16 Observer   Has our nation crossed over into insanity? The senseless slaughter of 20 children in a school is a new low for this nation. While we condone and allow the murder of unborn children by the hundreds of thousands in this country we can see how it has made us callous to the violence around us. Parents and grandparents hug your children and grandchildren and tell them how much you love them. While our campaigner in chief in D.C. spoke of the tragedy he shed tears. If they were for real it was probably the one and only time we have seen him sincere about anything.
December 14, 2012 14:37:08 whatever   Think, that was not a judgement. The statement was addressing the body of work by the supertendent
December 14, 2012 11:42:07 TX-1   was this a bad hunting season or what?
December 13, 2012 17:51:20 think about it   whatever, many times it helps to attend meetings to know all that goes into a job. Not always is there money available to carry out the work that needs doing, until you know the entire story you should not pass judgement on anyone.
December 12, 2012 06:33:09 tommy klehr "We've been very fortunate," said Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin, who toured the damage then briefed the media. "They were just lucky enough not to be home."
December 11, 2012 11:35:46 what?   Went up Steam Mill rd. today, and wooah, it is slippery all right! My car went back and forth and I wasn't doing more than 20mph. It looks like a repair job, grey shale, or maybe fine ground stone crush and run? If they aren't going to top it off with tar and stone like the rest of the road they should at least put up some caution and drive slow signs.
December 11, 2012 06:53:55 whatever?   You guys make it out that the supertendent is doing something great. The quality of work that he is in charge of is below standard. It does not take more money to give quality work it takes leadership witch is lacking at the position. We are not getting any value on our dollar when it comes to the work on the roads. Plowing is good. Maintence is well below standard. It is not the manpower that is lacking, the dept. is lacking leadership and vision for the future. I will be voting for whom ever runs against the current supertendent.
December 10, 2012 23:50:12 what?   Just for the record, there seems to be more than one what?, there is someone else posting as What?, and What!. I didn't know there was such a liking to my undercover post name! Thank goodness there isn't more than one Bertimouse! Also for the record, I have not criticized our TOM employees. I have alot more confidence that our town super isn't willing to throw around tax dollars than I am of our current President who IS throwing around tax dollars and wants another multi-billion dollar stimulus spending of our tax dollars. The Trillion dollar stimulus Obama spent after his first election gained us negative jobs numbers and a bunch of lies! Woohoo, lets try it again! Just like Democrat City Council member of Detroit JoAnn Watson said; " We Voted For You, Now Give Us Some Bacon." Humm, I thought it was only rumored that Barack O'Claus bought the election because of welfare and entitlements?

December 10, 2012 22:10:08 bertimouse   New to Area:if you look there are lots of real estate ads on homes for sale around here that say-no gas leases-as part of their ads.Best advice for you now is to contact some of those real estate firms that say that&ask them to give you the whole story.Real Estate Firms are not allowed to Lie to you.In Delaware County, check out the county records in Delhi on real estate transactions. Our friends in Unadilla are selling now because of an underground gas pipeline that will be cutting straight across their property via eminent domain&there is nothing they can do about it except fight&hope that they re-route the gas pipeline somewhere else&that their buyers dont know anything about this&thats not fair to anyone.Beware! If I were you Id make it a buyers stipulation that-to the best of their knowledge-LOL!Theres a Hoot-there be NO gas pipeline routes or leases on your land&have a Very Good NYS,Delaware County Lawyer to help you Wade Thru&Research before you buy, allot is hidden.Ive seen RE Ads that advertise-NO GAS LEASE-for 19.5 acres so if your looking for something under than say,20 acres then you have to research the Next-Door-big-acre-neighbors-in Delhi. A big-acre neighbor can ruin a little-acre neighbor in a Heartbeat when it comes to gas fracking land lease, maybe not now but if they are in place now,or later, beware! It takes Millions of Gallons of Water to frack a gas well.It takes Thousands of Gallons of over 300 Poisonous Chemicals that the companies dont even want to reveal to NYS DEC,NYSDept.of Health,&our NYS Legislature to frack right now. Pipeline running thru your property? Maybe. Check out Deposit,NY. NTA: Fracking here in the Town of Masonville Anywhere? NEVER.Not as long as I,my family,my animals,my friends,my neighbors Breath. The Town Of Masonville has NO NEED Anywhere for Poisoned Water,Natural Gas Explosions,Natural Gas Heat for that matter, any more Additional Highway Department Costs which is a proven Fact&We Cannot afford the additional training that our Fire Dept.would need not to mention our TOM Board regarding-GAS Disaster Readiness&How To Prepare Your Town. Those that currently support Gas Drilling in the TOM-NEED to understand that Training Costs Tax Dollars as well.Nuff Said.
December 10, 2012 17:35:17 TX-1   Well Well,there is a job opening in MV,any takers?
December 10, 2012 16:43:08 What!   resident of masonville that is not a problem it goes on everyday in the private sector it is just a job that needs a good mamager.
December 10, 2012 16:15:37 resident of masonville   whoever wants to run for hwy superintendent needs lots of knowledge of business , equipment repair, management, and manual labor. Not just receiving a paycheck. Also working all hours of day or night plowing snow and flood work.
December 10, 2012 14:40:04 New to Area   Would like to get a property not that big 5 to 10 acres, next or close to State Land, may be a creek running thru it,just land dont care about buildngs.
December 10, 2012 13:47:11 Who!   resident of masonville. I do not think that these messages were for the Supertendent of Highways. If I am correct they are intended for the voters. The position is comming up for re-election soon. Who knows he might be challenged.
December 10, 2012 13:00:07 resident of masonville   Questions about the town roads , just ask the highway superintendent, leave a phone message .he will return call. Like always , ask the one who does the work not the message board.
December 10, 2012 10:12:33 New to Area   So,some how he would still be the owner, some how he would have rights to the why why would anybody buy it or sell it.
December 10, 2012 09:49:28 Observer   New To Area - Perhaps the seller wishes to maintain the mineral rights for himself. Or perhaps the seller wishes to prevent drilling on the land even though he no longer owns it. Perhaps the seller has already leased the rights thus cannot transfer them. See the below site address. It applies to PA but I am told NYS is about the same.
December 10, 2012 09:46:44 Confused   Test
December 10, 2012 09:36:07 New to Area   What is the reason someone would sell a property without minerals rights, knowing it has some thing under ground.
December 10, 2012 08:02:13 just sayin'   anybody who thinks that dirt is not as dangerous on a streep incline in inclement weather just doesn't know what their talking about.
December 09, 2012 21:42:15 what?   Actually, Steam Mill is paved, all the way to the last house. Maybe there was a dirt spill of some sort, better than what I ran into on county rd.35 a couple of weeks ago. The 'honey wagon' had a spill, both sides of the road about a hundred yards long, inch or two deep.It was plastered everywhere! On the doors, handles, bumpers, fenders, inch thick in the wheel wells! I went through the auto car wash hoping it would help, and it still stanks! I heard manure is worse for cars than salt! And these people are complaining about dirt!
December 09, 2012 20:24:53 Observer   While I may be wrong it is my understanding that Shear Road beyond the No Town Maintenance sign(even though there is private property along that road) Is actually designated a state truck trail and the state is responsible for its maintenance, not the town. There are actually a lot of back roads with that designation. One that comes to mind quickly is the truck trail between Melondy Hill road and East Afton Road.
December 09, 2012 19:03:37 Old Fa rt   That is the same story with Shears Rd,but OH NO that road can not be been asking the same and got no where. there are properties on Shears and am sure they pay their taxes as everyone else, but they get no services from MV,there is about 6 houses pass the no maintenance sign and this people get nothing,i know what some will tell me,they knew it when they got the property, well time changes and if the owners pay to school tax(none of them use school)and county and all their taxes,is only fair that they get their road improved and paved.thats all am saying.
December 09, 2012 17:53:21 Just sayin'   I was traveling on steam mill rd off Rt 206 and almost went off into a ditch. can someone tell me why this road is covered with dirt that is slippery when wet. Is the Highway dept. so overworked that they are negligent in cleaning this road of the hazardous condition it is now in? Maybe there should be an accounting for the poor road conditions around Masonville made to the residents by the untouchable Highway Superintendent?

December 08, 2012 14:39:45 Observer   What? Sorry about the loss of your friend. It, of course, difficult to lose a friend. A couple of years ago we lost a good friend in a head-on collision in Walton near the town landfill. She will be missed. Especially since she was lost in a senseless accident involving someone passing a truck on a double line on a curve. But life is uncertain at best. God does not send a guarantee when we are born.
December 07, 2012 22:56:20 what?   The man who died in the car accident was a good friend of mine, though I haven't seen him in a few years. Went to school together and worked with him about nine years ago. He lived in Masonville for a few years. I don't think he was more than 34yrs old, and a real good person, someone who would help out anyone who needed a hand, helped me out once without even asking him, he insisted on it. Got along with anyone who knew him. It is only a rumor that it was a heart attack, I don't think it is known yet what happened. I totaled a car once by accidentally drifting off the road, I luckily didn't get hurt, but it makes you think. When something like this happens it makes you want to hold your loved ones a little closer and appreciate our short stay on earth. My thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.

December 04, 2012 12:11:50 Observer   Let me see. Bush could of immediately leapt up and charged out of the building at top speed. That three minutes he kept on reading could have been spent sending the entire country into a panic. Or maybe he could have spent the time running in circles screaming "whatever shall we do". But instead he kept his cool and his head and let his advisors gather the information he needed to proceed on to the next step. The argument about the few minutes he kept on reading is perhaps one of the most obvious attempts at destroying the presidency I have ever heard of.
December 03, 2012 22:29:56 what?   what? would you suggest, scare the cra p out of the little kids? what? would Obama do, besides apologize to the terrorists? Obama said "America has shown arrogance…been dismissive, even derisive(Expressing contempt or ridicule, mocking)." I do NOT think that is a nice thing to say about our country. The majority has spoke? Yeah the majority of about one state, or 3.6% of the vote. Almost half of the voters, over 60 million Americans don't agree with you Berti. This election has shown America to be pretty divided, so does Obama want to work with the other half of the country? NO!,he has the same attitude you do "reform or you Will Be Done". Obama doesn't want to negotiate, it's his way only. Double the taxes he proposed, new stimulus spending, raise the debt limit to whatever they want without Congress being involved. King Obama thinks Congress should agree to allow him to borrow a unlimited amount of money, whatever he decides. Do you really think Congress should agree to this? There goes the Constitution.
December 03, 2012 20:09:18 bertimouse   A Romulan for pres wouldve wrecked more things than yall know.Say what you will but our current Pres never sat still reading to 5yr olds while our country was being attacked, burned and killed. Barry O spent his entire young life calling himself that because of reactions from guys just like You. The President and All those who support him will have their say this year because It Is For The Better Of The Whole,Not The Few,and guys like you whove been brainwashed by the Party Central should Get Used To This. The current Romulan Attitude will Lose All of your next elections for Congress and you all know it. Again;the Majority Has Spoken.Get used to it,reform or you Will Be Done as sure as a Turkey for Christmas. Nuff Said.
December 03, 2012 18:11:47 attn TK1   TK1>> on rte 8 & Shear rd... possible number for Vincent D. number: 607-467-1422.
December 03, 2012 16:21:52 voter   looking forward to lots of new faces at the board meeting on Wed, 7:30. Always something to learn and questions to ask.
December 03, 2012 09:00:07 Old Fa rt   Am sooo glad, that I didnt voted for NOBAMA,now all that voted for it will cry.
December 02, 2012 20:59:17 what?   I'm paying more for insurance as a result of what has been put in place on Obamacare so far. The National Association of Manufacturers and National Federation of Independent Business, 69% said the current president’s policies have hurt their business. The Kaiser Family Foundation and the Health Research and Educational Trust report that between 2010 and 2011, family premiums increased by 9 percent and for individual premiums by 8 percent. Provisions of the law that have already gone into effect are driving up the cost of premiums, including requiring insurance plans to cover children up the age of 26 on their parents’ policies and requiring government-approved preventive care measures to be covered with zero cost sharing by all plans. Obama is going to cover the difference by printing more money I guess. You might not be scared berti, but I am. You might be close to retirement but I'm not, and I want to see this country succeed, I want to see jobs available for all, for myself and the future of my children. Obamaclaus is more interested in creating a dependent society. The money is already running out, eventually the welfare will too.
December 02, 2012 19:39:29 bertimouse   Not so What. Obama can Veto whatever he wants from Congress and will now...nothing to lose. Lets all Jump Off the supposed cliff to see what REALLY Happens,eh?Not scared Here And Never Will Be By Any Political Rhetoric,LOL they will NOT Tread On Me! The Health Care bill is saving Billions right now, dude, you just havent even researched any of it yet, have you?Why not learn more about it instead of learning less?Just a good suggestion because this Legislation is here to stay. Yes:Agree with you-let the HWY Dept take a day off without pay during a 12-inch snowstorm. TOM residents would be more supportive of our Hwy Dept after that, most folks have no idea how hard they work with the little they get from the TOM every year. Its not they that budget their money;its the TOM board.
December 02, 2012 17:45:53 TX-1   HELP! HELP!.Please does anybody knows the owner of the property on RT 8/Shears rd ,right on the corner across the street from the ice cream place,it has a for sale sign on it,but when call a recording says, this is a non working #. it also says ask for Vinnie.does anyone knows Vinnie? I have this freind that is interested on it.Thanks
December 02, 2012 17:16:11 Voter Too!   Dear Voter - Here, Here! I agree with you completely!!! People need to go to the meetings and ask questions to the people who have the answers....not post uninformed and anonymous guesses here...also, health care IS mandated as well as the retirement program by the State. All government employers are mandated by State law to participate in the NYS retirement program.
December 02, 2012 13:13:56 voter   Nice to see the message board to come alive again !! Do think it is a good idea for more to attend the board meetings then questions could be asked to right person and you could get correct answer instead of a guess.
December 02, 2012 12:45:48 think about it   What==== You do not think the hwy men should take a day off without pay? I should hope not, that would mean bad roads and no work for the rest of us because no one knows how to drive on a road with any snow on them!!!
December 02, 2012 12:34:24 what?   Your wrong Berti, if Obama had the votes to repeal ALL Bush tax cuts we still couldn't bring down the debt. For one Obama does not want to make any spending cuts, Obama wants to increase spending. Two, if the Bush tax cuts expire there will be fewer jobs to create tax revenue to support our bloated Govt. If we’re supposed to go back to Clinton-era tax rates because they were good for America, why don’t we simultaneously return to that era’s spending rates? Today Obama spends a $Trillion dollars more a year than the Clinton era. Instead, Obama wants to INCREASE spending!
December 02, 2012 12:22:55 what?   Actually What! Healthcare is mandated, Obama deemed it so, or pay a 'fine' ('tax', they can't legally call it a fine, they have to call it a tax). Obamacare is going to cost us all alot of $$ and cost the loss of alot of jobs.
December 02, 2012 11:42:49 Yes   What------ You are right the men should take a day off without pay, next snow storm would be a good time.
December 02, 2012 09:05:57 What!   Voter too they health care is not mandated it is included in the union contract that is up same as retirement. Wonder what kind of increase the employees will get. I have not heard of anyone getting a mandated retirement or health care. I say they should cut the health care give more copays to the employees jut like the rest of civil employees receive. no pay increase, has anyone heard of any state or federal agency that has given a pay increase? I know that state employees are mandated to take o day a month off without pay to cut the deficit why not cut at the town level. Voter too they are not mandated these benifits are given by the elected town board. Does anyone know who represents the town at the table with the union represenatives.
