December 02, 2012 08:54:25 Voter Too!   Rather than wages, the Town had to go above the 2% cap because of mandated raises to health insurance and retirement. I did not hear about and wage raises when i went to the budget meeting.
December 02, 2012 04:50:37 Who!   Voter i do not think so remember they raised our taxes at the town and county level. Town board over rides the 2% tax cap to give out pay raises. Took money from our families how can we be happy? Wait till next year.
November 30, 2012 21:39:38 voter   Hope all will attend the last town board meeting of the year and things can be ended on a peaceful and happy note. I certainly was a very interesting year for all.
November 30, 2012 20:51:18 bertimouse   I Apologize to All Here for such a Long Post. Have a Great Weekend Everyone. And Hey a Big Hello to T&C: If here, then Big Hello from Here&would Love to see you here. Would Love to hear from you folks. Thanks&PL&H to the best of Friends and Family.
November 30, 2012 20:32:46 bertimouse   Oh b.s. what? The Facts are that the Reps are proposing MUCH LESS deficit reductions than the Deps. -what?no one is really negotiating in DC about & itll never happen, lol,is that ALL of the Bush Tax Cuts should expire for Everyone...if they did that wed reduce the deficit by 25-percent-get this-within 10 years! Were screwed no matter what-what? Dont care here no more,really-going independent Solar and Wind like my 2 brothers out West and say the hell with the World-sad commentary but am totally becoming residentially independent because no one but me and my neighbors will be caring for me once I get to be old. When Govt is Big or Small, means no difference at all to me now. Ive got my Solar Panels and Batteries now. Govt should help everyone making under $200K with tax breaks to be OFF THE GRID with Solar;but they dont&you know they never will because of the Crooked Lobby Money coming into both Parties about their own supposed Clean,Independent,Residential Energy. Yah its all bs. what. All they want to protect is their own Industry Profits.Right now in NYS you CAN be off the Grid. Right Now they should be training & teaching NYS inmates how to do some of the manufacturing processing -for the building&fabrication of Completed Solar Panels. It would be the type of training for these types of people that once they were released-they'd for Once be able to find a job or LOL start their own business?!? The Local Area Colleges are all focusing on Gas Fracting Technology...Which Ones are Focusing on Solar Technology in NYS yet? NONE. I can power my whole 1000 sq. ft. house with just 4 solar panels,a charge controller and one bank of 4 batteries that are Always being re-charged by Mother Nature. All OFF THE GRID&with NO State or Govt Agency Rebates or Tax Incentives...Cost? $5K. The Fact Is, for the price of installing a supposed backup generator where you have to scrounge for gas for the generator during an Emergency? You can install a solar off-the-grid system for your Whole House. Been there. Done This. So What?Dont care anymore except my SSI&Medicare thats coming to me when its supposed to.Worked ALL my life since age 12 so thats why I say God Help Them if they mess with that again.Id planned on 65,now its 67.What?Dont get me started here Im already mad as a cat thrown in water with a bunch of retriever dogs hunting ducks! But it was nice chatting with you neigbor.U R Good Folk,eh?:)
November 30, 2012 15:56:56 what?   Ready for four more years of job stagnation? Obama actually wants to go over the financial cliff. His offer has twice the tax increases that he ran on. He ran for reelection on a tax plan that would raise $800 billion.$1.6 trillion in new taxes. He wants a new stimulus, and they want a permanent debt limit that they control. Obama wants to be able to raise the debt limit to whatever they want without Congress being involved. Obama doesn't have the votes, he wants to plunge off the cliff. Even with the Obama's desired tax hikes, publicly held debt would rise by $7.7 trillion in 10 years under the President’s budget.A recent study by Ernst & Young noted that Obama's tax hike, far from being "balanced," would cost 700,000 people their jobs. And it will no doubt kill hundreds of thousands if not millions more jobs in the future as would-be entrepreneurs decide not to start businesses in such a hostile tax and regulatory environment.
November 29, 2012 19:47:07 bertimouse   Would like to first say here that this post regarding political spit will probably be disagreed by many folks-no problemo because-this is why Freedom Of Speech is Good-So here goes:the supposed \"Fiscal Cliff\" is nothing more than a Bungie Jump Yall and Congress should WAKE UP and realize that the People have already spoken and want a Bungie Jump!:) Congress needs to STOP USING SCARE TACTICS all the time- Seriously? Once again, dont they understand that We The People see through their continual scare tactics? If Congress even THINKS about proposing to raise-once again-the age limits for SSI and Medicare benefits they will ALL be voted out. We Remember and its Past Time now for the Rich to Realize a Reawakening while the Rest of us-98%reportedly-get back on our feet. Thank God for-my town,my country for not arresting nor berating me for speaking what needed to be said...dont tread on me congress-you will rue the day.

November 28, 2012 19:52:36 Old Fa rt   Maybe it was a DEC decoy, trying to catch illegal hunters from the City / Jersey.just an idea.

November 27, 2012 17:44:02 Grumpy Ernst Keidel CDR.Keidel@gmail.com I am well into my twelfth year as a Masonvillain. How long will I stay considered an outstater?
November 27, 2012 10:01:06 Old Fa rt   When the season opens for outstaters? LOL LOL LOL.
November 27, 2012 08:36:44 MV LONG TIME RESIDENT   DEER HUNTING ON SHEARS RD SUCKS BIG TIME. NO DEER AT ALL. BUT MORE Jersey Folks and NYC Folks This year then ever. Have anyone notice that too .????
November 26, 2012 20:41:34 Old Fa rt   DEC keeps raising the price on licenses and hunters are getting less for more,I know this outstater and he paid 140.00 for a license, thats buck only,he said that years ago it was 50.00 but then it begun to go up,up,up.now it is almost impossible to go hunting, this may be his last year hunting. See this way the state will lose money,if hunters start stopping to hunt, because it is too expensive, but they dont care about the future of hunting or the game, they only care about making more money off the back of the hunting community. Coyotes ,yes way too many for what the area can hold,Deer population is down, some have to give.
November 26, 2012 17:56:21 what?   Where I hunt, after it snows there is more coyote trails than deer trails. Usually they are after snowshoe hares. I've been hunting for 22 yrs. and have never seen no more than one set of coyote tracks per hill, the past few years I see beaten paths of their tracks every 50 to 100 yards or so. Most hills usually have at lest one set of bear tracks also, and they love to eat fawns too. Six or eight years ago I never seen bear tracks.
November 26, 2012 17:45:27 what?   Whatever!, OK!, they all deserve egg on their faces.
November 26, 2012 08:36:42 Old Fa rt   Well,All I know is that I spend the whole weekend up in Artic by Shears and there was not single shot, there were hunters, but no deer, only saw a doe about 200 yards, running her *CENSORED* off,saw more Coyotes droppings than deers, that area upthere is dead, the Coyotes have taken over.spoke with a guy upthere,he told me he had seen a bunch of Coyotes, but no Deers. I think is time to go some other place,Shears is dry.
November 26, 2012 08:29:05 WTF   What happen to the deer hunting this year ??? On Shears rd. this past weekend havent heard not even a gun shot out there . I think theres no deers in the mountain. Any one knows whats going on ???
November 26, 2012 06:53:07 Whatever!   What? I stated all incumbants should have egg on thier faces. All parties
November 25, 2012 20:46:04 what?   The DEC says there isn't a big impact from coyotes killing deer. But they report on 20 radio collard coyotes 3 full grown deer killed and 34 fawns ( of which grow up to become full grown deer). The coyote population in New York during the Summer is approximately 20,000-30,000 according to DEC. Let's call it 25,000. According to DEC each radio tagged coyote kills 1.7 fawns and .15 adult deer. 3,750 full grown deer and 42,500 fawns killed by coyotes every year in NY. If we had a abundant deer population in Delaware county, why is the chances of getting a doe tag slim to none, year after year? Deer season is eleven weeks including bow and late muzzleloader, and if you buy a hundred dollars worth of tags you can shoot three deer, (if you just gun hunt, only one deer)and for a extra $ten (used to be free with sportsman license) you get a slim to none chance at a doe tag. Coyote season is twenty-six weeks long, you can hunt them day and night, and you can shoot as many coyotes that you want, no bag limit.
November 25, 2012 13:42:45 Observer   Insurance records indicate in excess of 63000 deer are killed on New York State highways each year. That is reported kills. Vehicles hitting and not stopping account for many many more. Coyotes account for less than 10,000 kills per year mainly the weak and sick. As to coyotes taking fawns, I am sure they would, but fawns have a natural defense against predators. The lay very still and do not move. Predators tend to depend on movement. If the fawn does not move it is likely a predator will walk right by them and never see them. In certain confined areas I am sure the coyote has an impact on the deer but as a general area probably not much at all. The carnage we humans do to wildlife is much greater than all the coyotes in the state. My wife drives from Masonville to Binghamton 5 days a week. For three years I had her keep track of the number of deer she seen along Interstate 88. During that time she counted a total of 1500. Some were so smeared and battered it was difficult to tell if they were deer or not. During the several years I have made a study of the Eastern Coyote I have not been able to come up with any evidence that they have made much of an impact on the deer herd in our area. If there is a shortage of deer ( which facts do not show ) it is likely from other causes than coyotes.
November 25, 2012 08:13:24 what?   I don\'t know, but would bet the proposed tax increases come from mandatory costs associated with Democrat controlled big business Unions, who strong arm our towns, counties and state (Unions who also fund the Democrat party with multi-$Billions$). $Pay increases, retirement increases etc. The cost of paying their healthcare is also going up significantly due to Obamacare, who do you think pays for this? All of us! Obamacare is the largest tax increase on middle income families in history!, and you say Republicans have egg on their face because of this?? The premium and the penalty are considered a tax,(the only way Obamacare could be legal and not considered Unconstitutional) the mandate is the largest tax increase in U.S. history
November 25, 2012 05:00:18 whatever!   what? remember all your local republicans have agreed to over ride the 2% tax cap and raise your taxes yes all the politicians who got re-elected and all incumbants should have egg on their faces and should reject all benifits they receive from the taxpayers until they do what we hired them to do. From town to county to state. We cannot afford any more increases and our town and county boards have failed the working taxpayer.
November 25, 2012 00:44:25 what?   NY DEC radio tagged 20 coyotes, and found out of 62 carcases visited, they only killed three full grown adult deer, full grown adult deer. Of the 20 coyotes watched, 34 fawns killed, were killed by GPS-collared coyotes. And I can step out side and hear three different 'packs' of coyotes, according to DEC an average low estimate 5 to eight a piece, within hearing distance (and I don't hear very good) 15 to 24 coyotes and many dead deer.
November 24, 2012 23:19:34 what?   MSN news; Asked by reporters what is needed to cushion the economic impact of the looming fiscal cliff, Obama declined to answer, saying "we're doing Christmas shopping." Woohoo, ain't you glad you voted for him when you can't afford Christmas,(this just in , tomorrow Obama has a special golf trip!woohoo!). Man, this is all Bush's fault!
November 22, 2012 19:25:37 Observer   The coyote population in NYS in the summer is between 20 and 30 thousand. In 2011 there were 60,000 hunters and trappers of coyotes. Unlike their cousin the gray wolf coyotes do not travel in packs. Coyotes travel in family units of the male and female and this years offspring. A family of coyotes can sound like many when they get to howling and barking. Interestingly enough one of their main food supplies is the road kill we humans leave behind in our travels. Coyotes normally will seek easier game than a white tail. But, they will attack and kill an adult deer if they so desire and need too.

November 22, 2012 13:16:58 Observer   In this state I believe any requests for use of meeting space in a "Town Hall" must be requested of the Town Board and approved by them. This is an example from Danby, NY:Town of Danby, NY Policy: Use of Town Hall Meeting Room 1.Scheduling for Town Meetings to be held in the Town Hall Meeting Room may be approved and scheduled by the Town Clerk. 2.Other Uses of the Meeting Room Policy A.All requests for use of the Town of Danby Meeting Room and Properties, for other than municipal meetings, must be directed to the Town Clerk for approval by the Town Board. All requests shall be brought before a regularly scheduled meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Danby. B.All requests for the use of the Town Hall Meeting Room shall be approved or denied by the Town Board of the Town of Danby. C.If the request is granted, a Certificate of Liability Insurance naming the Town as an additional insured shall be filed with the Town Clerk upon scheduling the use of the meeting room. D.Fees for use of the Town Hall Meeting Room and properties shall be as follows: 1.Other Governmental Agencies: No Fee 2.Not-for-profit Organizations: No Fee 3.Private requests may be considered by the Town Board

November 22, 2012 07:39:04 huh!   Ask the Mayor of Ivanhoe.
November 22, 2012 06:46:10 bad road   Person be careful you will be questioning the highway supertendent, Not a good thing to do in this town.
November 22, 2012 00:35:45 Person   Who do you have to bitch at to get a road name sign made properly??? it is Ivanhoe NOT Ivan hoe!!!!
November 22, 2012 00:27:05 what?   Ever wonder why there are so many deer hit in the road in the spring? Coyotes 'dog' them, chase um until they drop their fawns, and then eat them!! Deer have learned a easy way to throw of their trail is to cross roads, and sometimes they get hit. Go outside late at night and I hear THREE different packs by me, imagine how many there really are! Coyotes have no natural predators in this area, between anti hunter trapper, PETA type people, and the economy of Russia (big fur buyers), there is no trappers to keep them in check. Rabies becomes a concern now that, not only is there a coyote boom, but overpopulation of fox, coon, and many other species. If deer were overpopulated in the area, we wouldn't have hunters paying ten dollars a chance and getting two and three preference points for Doe tags, some still not getting any!!, spending twenty, thirty dollars extra, plus the hundred plus for resident hunting licensees!!
November 21, 2012 14:17:18 Observer   Confused - You mentioned a tough judge. Judges should be fair and unbiased. They should apply the law equally. Yes, a judge can treat a person in court in any fashion they want to and nothing much is going to happen to them but, they should not treat a person any differently than they themselves would want to be treated were they in the same situation. Many people view a trip to court to answer a ticket a major event in their lives. We have allowed our law enforcement and courts to act as they do. To view everyone outside their own circle as scum and automatically guilty is wrong. Over the years we have allowed our justices to adopt the attitude that they are beyond approach and above any civility. A justice has enormous power when exercising his or her duties but that is no excuse for it going to their heads or treating anyone unfairly. The idea that a person brought before the courts of the land are constitutionally innocent until proven guilty by a panel of their peers or a court is a lost fact in this country. The moment you are summoned you are presumed guilty and it is up to you to prove you are not. The very act of reading one their rights is telling them they are guilty of whatever act they are being accused of. Telling a person they can have a lawyer is telling the person you believe they are guilty. So, are you referring to a tough but fair judge or just a tough judge?
November 21, 2012 13:29:08 Confused   I had the occasion to visit our new Town Hall last evening. Nice building and a much improvement over the old Town Hall. Well, done board. But one thing did catch my eye I would estimate that at least half the space in the building is dedicated to the court. Judges Chambers. Nice large Court clerks office. Large Court Room. Conference room for the court. Well, it just goes to reinforce the town's reputation as the ticket and fine capitol of the county. Lots of enforcement and a tough judge guarantees a good income for the town each year.

November 19, 2012 20:11:46 Tammie Harris   Gersh derm Cy-oats killin dem durrs. Cant hunt no gewd.
November 19, 2012 20:06:09 Kevin Davie   I think we can blame Justin Bieber for all these coyotes.
November 19, 2012 17:23:22 Observer   Oh I agree that the coyote population should be controlled if they get out of hand. But, I think you will find that if our deer population is shrinking (if it is)it is because of the demise of our farms. Deer are borderland animals. They do not live in canopy forests (nothing to eat for them) and since the farming industry is declining; more and more of the land is going to heavy canopied forest. This of course drives the deer into areas where they are not wanted and the coyotes follow them. Coyotes being animals of opportunity will prey on any animal that means a meal to them. While I am sure they would attack and kill livestock, given the opportunity, it is pretty rare. I have heard stories of coyotes taking livestock but it is generally a "they said" sort of story. I have never actually talked to anyone who has lost any livestock to coyotes in this area. For a time after farms stop and the land goes to brush it is ideal for deer but in time that brush gives way to canopy. Dying farms and the "Forever Wild" act has driven deer to places they are not appreciated and generally to places that hunters cannot hunt.
November 19, 2012 16:56:30 Old Fa rt   I agree with you Observer, but what I said is , with the Coyotes coming into this area and the deer population been not that great here ,it is going to take a toll on the population,I understant about nature and all of that, but the Coyotes are doing a job on the Deers, too many Coyotes are not good, they will even go after house dogs and small kids. They do more damage than good.it population needs to be control.
November 19, 2012 16:04:20 Observer   As for the deer herds coming back. The first time I ever went deer hunting was in 1954. That year 38,549 deer were taken legally in the entire state. Someone actually getting a deer was such an oddity that people would drive to see it. In 2011 there were 238,359 deer taken legally in the state. That is over 200,00 more than 1954. It is estimated that in excess of 1 million deer are killed on the highways in the US every year. None of this sounds to me like a shrinkage of deer. Since a state high of 308,216 legal takes in 2002 the deer harvest has declined somewhat but the number of permits and licenses has declined as well.
November 19, 2012 15:31:10 Observer   The coyotes are a way nature has of balancing itself. For thousands of years deer have been in the food chain. (Big fish eat smaller fish etc.) Which is better the deer having a fighting chance with the coyotes (which they obviously do as they continue to proliferate the area) or taking their chance against a car or truck on the highway? Too often man has decided he knows better than nature and has stepped in to rescue nature against its will and paid a heavy price for doing so. Shooting off the coyotes is ridiculous as it just leaves the deer to grow in number and starve to death over the winter. The weaker being quickly dispatched and eaten sounds a lot better to me than starving to death. Just the other day I noted heavy crow action in a field near me. I stopped to see what the fuss was. I found a deer carcass in the field with the head and front legs removed. Someone needed a rifle rack I guess. If I were a deer I would much rather take my chances with the coyotes.
November 19, 2012 15:21:48 Old Fa rt   Will have to hunt more Coyotes and less Deers,so that the herd can come back, this ugly dogs have to go.seen more Coyotes droppings than Deers this weekend. something have to be done about this ugly dogs.
November 19, 2012 14:14:09 hunter   hope someone took care of the coyotes, so they do not kill all of the deer when the snow gets deep and it is hard for the deer to run.
November 19, 2012 09:21:15 Old Fa rt   Well, this has been a very slow opening weekend of deer season, not many people in the woods (Shears),I think people are getting tired of hunting or no money to by a license, just saw a few out staters and a very few locals, but no deers, heared some talk about a lot of Coyotes in the area, but not much deer action.
November 18, 2012 12:32:24 checkmate   To who ever cares- You have read my message so wrong. For myself. I do not receive help from Delhi but some people do need temporary help now and then. I also like to spend my money as I see fit. As far as homeowners is concerned you said it was required and I thought it was my choice. For people who don't want to share their wealth it doesn't mean just the rich that includes the middle class as well. No choice now election is over.

November 17, 2012 16:55:58 checkmate   You stated home owners insurance is mandated by law. Since when, what year? I had never heard if you own your home free and clear that you had to have insurance. Banks no doubt require it if you have a mortgage. For those who cant afford heat they should look into assistance from the county.
November 17, 2012 12:01:47 whoever cares!   Masonville town board all republicans over rides the 2% cap on taxes. Peoples taxes go up. Delaware county board of supervisors majority republicans over ride 2% tax increase mandated by law people will pay more taxes. People it does not matter our elected officals platform was not to raise taxes and here we are no new jobs towns giving out pay raises people cant afford fuel, heat, healthcare, a vacation, christmas presents for their young children. Cant afford a movie, car insurance is out of control home insurance is out of control both mandated by law. school taxes taxes on top of everything the republicans and democrates fight on tv but sleep together to screw the working families. And we all are scared by they statements at election time but they all raise your taxes. Do not trust any of them all their words are self serving. Have a happy holiday yea right just pay your taxes and freeze and starve. If you go to social services the first thing they do is register you to vote. This way they can keep their jobs.
November 17, 2012 10:32:24 Observer   What? Socialism=Everyone shares alike. Communism=Everyone gets what the government thinks they need. Obama Care=Communism.
November 17, 2012 00:35:27 what?   The Kaiser Family Foundation and the Health Research and Educational Trust report that between 2010 and 2011, family premiums increased by 9 percent and for individual premiums by 8 percent. Provisions of the law that have already gone into effect are driving up the cost of premiums, including requiring insurance plans to cover children up the age of 26 on their parents’ policies and requiring government-approved preventive care measures to be covered with zero cost sharing by all plans. The bad news is that Americans can expect costs to go even higher. The full force of the law won’t even kick in until 2014. Obamacare’s damage continues unabated. Families, individuals, and businesses are paying higher costs for health care. New regulations are exacting a heavy toll on job growth. And there are more regulations to come. King Obama is pushing for total Govt. run Socialism. Berti, how would you like to rely on a low paying job of 39 hrs a week to pay your bills, and then Obamacare requires healthcare coverage after 30hrs, your employer lowers you ten hrs to 29 hrs! This is what our small businesses in America said they have to do in order to keep the doors open, some are going to close their doors because of Obamacare!!!,,still no jobs and no hope for them!!!
November 16, 2012 22:59:04 bertimouse   Warning! This is long and political speak, sorry. So now after the Election 1.The(first)Big Cliff for our country=Budget Vote.Repeal the Real Ghost: antiquated bush tax cuts for the wealthy. It expires in 6 wks.and sorely needs to be out of here!Like our local SCSD,scare tactics no longer have any effect on us. We all voted and are ready and willing to "Jump off your supposed cliffs" now. 2.Health Care=many Republican State Governors are currently doing nothing towards this Law and in fact actually ignoring it!At this moment, instead of following the Federal Law,by trying to help their own states get their health policies in line with this law? They choose to do Nothing but Delay in Congress...yet ruin the health of their own states citizens by their Congressional bickering and stalling. Currently there are 16 States that have chosen to do the work for their own Health Care Choices. The Feds give the states their own choices on that. If they dont get started then Yes, the Feds will take over. 3.Seems to me that all of the Rep states are just too Lazy to do their own health care work. With the Obama HP, All states have to have their own plans in place by 2014 and if they don't then the Feds take over with their plan...they have extended it 3 Freaking times because the republicans have refused to even talk about it in Congress! 3.If the Romney & Ryan republican campaign was so big on non-gov't involvement regarding the Health Care Reform system and "the Economy & getting people back to work" and if I were such a great businessman & millionaire & a former governor of the state of Massachusetts & cared as much as he said about "this great spirit of our country" right now? Then Holey Cow where the L is he now in NYS. The republican party needs to Oh Forget it. Too many words, never here, especially not now. Sorry yall for the wind here. Peace.
November 16, 2012 21:40:58 bertimouse   Dear Confused: Most likely because you got it fixed the next day the Judge will take Note of that & also your past great driving record. Hopefully your ticket should be no more than $75 bucks but let us know how it turns out for you eh? Thanks and Good Luck!

November 14, 2012 18:55:30 what?   WOW. I passed the same loaded dump truck while hunting State Land. Just a guess but I bet it came from the shale quarry just off Zion.(red shale, some of the best road building material). I bet it was headed to a different TOM road to fix or patch it. The TOM crew gets caught working and it makes the town 'news'!
November 14, 2012 13:09:13 Just wondering   Where is the dirt being dumped?
November 14, 2012 13:04:49 resident of masonville   What kind of emergency causes them to dump dirt?
November 14, 2012 13:00:20 Old Man   What ever? Maybe you need your glasses checked, I saw the same crew and it was only 1 truck.
November 14, 2012 11:26:01 Whatever?   I saw the whole highway crew working on morman hollow road this morning. That road is in good shape does anyone know what they were doing dumping dirt over there was there a road emergency on the road.
November 12, 2012 17:55:19 Observer   And somewhere there are at least one hundred paper copies of each of those regulations.
November 12, 2012 17:47:24 what?   6,124 regulations and notices have been posted on the federal government's regulations.gov website in the past 90 days. President Barack Obama's administration withheld some of the most controversial environmental and healthcare regulations during October so as not to jeopardize his reelection chances. However, the federal government has still posted an average of 68 regulations and notices a day for the last three months.NO JOBS!
November 12, 2012 16:24:52 Observer   Confused take heart!! You will probably not receive a fine for your violation. Instead of a fine you will be assessed an "administration fee". That should make you feel a lot better. Instead of a $100 fine it will be a $100 Administration fee. Equipment failures. Guilt by association.
November 12, 2012 13:56:36 love to pay the state.   Confussed just walkin habd the court clerk all your cash youare as guilty as anbody i have heard wine like this. Confused you will defintly get points on your licence proberly 6 to 8 but that will be the least of your worries wait until you insurance finds out plus motor vechile assessement on top of ot all your screwed should have fixed it and you would not be in this mess bring a lawyer.
November 12, 2012 12:00:34 Confused   Has anyone had the opportunity to appear before the Masonville Justice Court? I am wondering if it is advisable to obtain legal representation before appearing before the court? I am scheduled to appear on a warrant for a non-working brake light. The last time I had to appear in a court to answer for a traffic crime I was about 24 years old and that was a long time ago; and as I remember I was fined $25 for not stopping at a stop sign. While I sent information that the brake light had been repaired within 24 hours of the crime I am still summoned before the court. I presume to pay a fine. I know these things today do not amount to a $25 fine but rather add points to ones license and incur driver responsibility fees each year and cause ones insurance to go up along with a very hefty fine and court costs and surcharges. I know town justice courts are established to generate revenue for the town; so what are my chances of getting out of there with my pockets empty?
November 12, 2012 08:23:21 also a Masonville homeowner   Beautiful day for remembering all of our veterans, and a big thank you to all.
November 11, 2012 23:40:54 what?   I don't remember who or where it was or what party affiliation, when the Obama stimulus money was doled out one state refused it. When asked why? you are going to hurt your chances of re-election with your constituents in your state, he replied, "I work for my state but we are all Americans" does anybody remember who or what state this was, Google isn't helping, it is biased.
November 11, 2012 23:31:14 what?   I second that bertimouse, we agree well said. I don't care what? 'they' say about grants. That's how $millions$ was wasted on Masonville and Sidney Center schools. "It was just 'grants', "if we don't use them we lose them",.IT IS STILL OUR HARD WORKING TAXPAYER MONEY$$!
November 11, 2012 22:08:07 bertimouse   Thanks What. Lets all Vote NO again to SCSD. Having read all the details about the proposed supposed "building project"? Theres no reason they cant deal with all that themselves with their OWN budget AND without scaring us all about a higher budget. The SCSD maintenance dept. just needs to get off their butts and develop a Regular building maintenance program, which includes their Boilers, their MHs, their Valves, their Electrical systems AND their Athletic Fields;DUH. When was the last time a member of the public ever even ASKED to see the SCSDs Regular Maintenance Program at a BOE mtg? Never. Nuff Said. Vote NO AGAIN Yall.
November 11, 2012 10:07:38 what?   With Obama's re-election good luck finding a job. Today, almost one in six Americans is on food stamps. Median household income is down $3,000.Forty seven million people living in poverty and an estimated 23 million either without jobs or underemployed. The National Association of Manufacturers and National Federation of Independent Business, 69% said the current president’s policies have hurt their business. Thousands of new regulations, that were put off until after the election are going to be hitting us all hard. Some of these regulations will increase gasoline prices, which the Obama administration did not want to do in the months leading up to the election.
November 11, 2012 05:12:26 work wanted   Above average salary.

November 10, 2012 15:16:31 Another voter   Speaking of voting! What ever happened to the school vote that was canceled due to "Sandy"?
November 10, 2012 13:32:02 just another voter   Nice to see all the candidates have taken signs down and the streets and roads are once again clear. Glad this year of voting is done and there is once again peace in our town.
November 10, 2012 08:43:13 Grumpy Ernst Keidel CDR.Keidel@gmail.com Thank you all for the well-wishes! Someone must have noticed my absence at the last board meeting. I have been suffering from an iron deficiency and that required weekly trips to the Albany VA Hospital for infusions. Add to that an eye operation on Wednesday and you can see that I have been an outpatient in Albany often. Naturally that requires four hours of driving time for each visit. Last time they said I seem to be getting my iron resolve back and won\'t have to come up again until March. My right eye is still a little tender but is improving. Thanks for caring!
November 10, 2012 08:34:43 resident of masonville   Is there nothing going on in the town of Masonville since election day?
November 09, 2012 15:18:31 what?   OHH! OK, berti was just borrowing my what?. I guess I'm wrong again, (maybe).
November 09, 2012 12:08:24 Observer   What? Read it again. I do not think Berti is referring to you. I think it is meant as an Exclamation!
November 09, 2012 10:03:49 voter   would you not think that someone from Masonville 1st would have shown for the board meeting? Guess the fun is over and they are really showing their concern for our town.
November 08, 2012 21:48:21 tommy klehr tklehr@yahoo.com bertimouse & Observer, Thank you both for your comments on the word \"pulchritude.\" Thank you also for taking the time to read what I posted. I know it is difficult to read lengthy posts here due to the lack of formatting.
November 08, 2012 21:17:46 what?   Come on Berti!,"What? After all the poison youve spread?" Name specifics if you want to be credible. I try to deal with plain simple facts, and my opinion as stated. The only time that I can remember being 'off' I apologized for my 'shooting off at the mouth' without the facts and Tony-CR-20 accepted my apology and invited me to a drink, which I hope to someday take him up on.
November 08, 2012 21:01:07 Observer   Raaaly now I felt the use of the word pulchritude was a very precocious and beguiling application of the English language :) LOL
November 08, 2012 20:40:46 bertimouse   Dear tommy K: Agree with your post on 11-6-12 at 9:50:47 but seriously Dude? To use the word "pulchritude" to describe the TOM's Beauty? Who the L do you think you R speaking to us here on this bulletin board with that er, term? Cant u just say A Beautiful Place To Live? Dear Observer: Regarding your post on 11-6-12 at 21:14:54:Hear Here! To John Galt: You say:"Lets let bygones be bygones and get back to the friendly culture that makes our town wonderful."-What?After all the poison youve spread? Dear Upset: we"Locals"have been living here with you sharing many of the same backgrounds and frustrations. Every year we watch our town and every year some try to gain political strength. It takes Everyone to Make Us Strong. Wish after this Election the Reps & the Dems would remember that but sadly - theyre back to their same old same old. To Conspiracy Theory: Love to see you be a Volunteer to help the Folks down on Staten Island right now.LOL. Grumpy: GET WELL SOON! :)
November 08, 2012 17:36:18 what?   Grumpy, I like what stand up comedian Demitry Martin said "I don't like 'Get Well Soon' cards. Forget THAT! How about 'Get well NOW!!!!!' " and thanks again for this site, it seems to be unique to Masonville, I've Googled other local towns to find something similar, and have found none.
November 08, 2012 11:05:20 Elaine Bradish   Hope you are doing better and can attend meetings again soon, I have missed several meetings myself because of an injury but hope to get going again soon.
November 08, 2012 10:57:13 Mormon Hollow Farm   Grumpy, hope you are feeling well soon, miss you at the meetings.
November 08, 2012 10:16:34 Observer   By the way. The owner of this board. A disabled American Veteran is not doing well health wise. Lets all post a get well message to "Grumpy". Hey Grumpy I am praying for your swift and complete recovery from whatever :)
November 08, 2012 10:13:37 Observer   Went to Town Board Meeting last evening. Arrived late but after the meeting I overheard a discussion concerning the "negative" effect of manufactured homes on the tax base. I was wondering just how long that would take to rear its head here in Masonville. Driving around the town one would have to wonder just what would happen to the tax base in the town if manufactured homes were removed from the mix? People tend to live in what they can afford. Not everyone can come here and build the million dollar dream estate. Or even the hundred thousand dollar estate. Within 3/4 miles of me in any direction one can count at least 15 manufactured homes of different ages. I lived in an area that severely restricted manufactured homes and I did not see that it improved the tax base any, nor the quality of housing for that matter. Oh well, to each his own I suppose.
November 07, 2012 21:32:36 Craig DuMond   I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all the Town voters who came out to support me as well as our Supervisor, Mike Spaccaforno, and Councilman, Steve Roff. Your support was an overwhelming and humbling experience and we look forward to continue to represent you, as well as the traditions, values and freedoms we all hold so dear. Very Respectfully, Craig
November 07, 2012 18:29:13 resident   board meeting TOM at 7:30 town hall tonight
November 07, 2012 16:59:50 Observer   HEY! Whoever is using my nom de plume stop it or I will send Guido out and he will break your texting thumbs. Or at least if you are going to use it capitalize the first letter. But I will tell you what IS scary on here. The abuse of the English language.
