September 09, 2011 02:36:08 bertimouse   And P.S. Masonville missed it by only 5-10 miles. If anyone would like to dispute this just TRY & take a drive "thru" Bainbridge right now. Prayer Helps Everyone, Yall, Eh?
September 09, 2011 02:22:12 bertimouse   OK so Maybe we should all be looking for WMD\'s right now because of the latest News Alert...should be a \"Yellow\" or \"Red\" by now, eh? The 9/11/01 Date Needs to be Remembered BY ALL; NOW! There is no time like the Present. These here big Floods only serve us ALL to be prepared - Yah, for Anything that you\'ve never thought of before; BTW: High Alert for Car BomBings in NYC & DC so all we can do here is Pray For It Not To Happen, Yes?
September 08, 2011 20:45:29 taxpayer   Once again Masonville avoided the flooding and for the most part is in good shape. Have not heard of any flooded cellars although there probably are a few. No need for generators this time around but it is nice to know there is one available for use.
September 08, 2011 18:00:13 majtom   How is the flooding around the Masonville area? Any roads closed or washed out?
September 08, 2011 13:20:20 TX-1   Any flooding in MV?
September 08, 2011 10:52:08 9/11   bertimouse I dont think masonville has or will forget about 911 but...do u not see what the hell is going on around here we need to help the towns around us right NOW not stand around thinking of the past we r in the present
September 07, 2011 22:01:45 bertimouse   9-11-01 is a date that Everyone should know about & no one should Forget. We are sad that TOM Forgot the 10th Anniversary of this Dreadful Event that changed Life For ALL OF US, eh? -Just Saying here. PL&H&LessisMore.
September 07, 2011 21:57:47 bertimouse   So what is TOM doing for 9/11 this Weekend; Anything Official? Whatever. We\'ll be in NYC: first time in 15 years Folks...wish us Luck Yall!
September 07, 2011 16:44:42 Les   Thanks Kathy! I always wanted a scanner. Nice to know there is a free one online!
September 07, 2011 15:08:37 Kathy   Live feed, Tri-County Public Safety: Includes Sheriff, Fire and EMS, New York State Police Troop C dispatch from Troop Headquarters. Covers the counties of: Otsego, Delaware, and Chengango. (Radio located in Otsego County). Go to www dot radioreference dot com and type "Tri-County Public Safety" into the search box. Click on that and you can listen online. It's not good out there today.
September 06, 2011 07:57:23 TX-1   Going up Shears ,there is a fallen tree across the rd,right by Ponderosa, can go under it BUT it will come down and it may fall on someones head, why has the Ranger not taken it down,it will be a problem in the future.
September 04, 2011 17:28:37 Masonville Resident   More rain for Masonville, no basements had serious water in them, hopefully, from Irene so now we will try again. Why could we not have had some of this water in July?
September 03, 2011 11:03:26 TOM Webmaster   PS- A full version of Autocad would barely fit on a 200 gig drive running XP let alone using it with any success. Running it on any of the mobile products would not be a very successful venture. Autocad is very demanding of graphic speed and capabilities plus being resource hog. There is a saying among geeks. "Develop a big storage unit and software engineers will figure out a way of filling it." Software rapidly becomes bloatware thus we see the terabyte drives etc. While it may be true at this stage the mobile devices are fine for cruising the internet and sending e-mail etc they are not developed to the point that they are useful for many purposes and software. One drawback is the size of the viewing screen. This is an impossible barrier at this point of development. One day perhaps we will be able to plug it in our ear or something and see the display in our minds. LOL
September 03, 2011 10:22:43 TOM Webmaster   Download a program called CCleaner (free) and run it several times. Also upgrade virus and trojan protection. Might try defragging your "C" drive as well. Newegg is a good online store and reasonably priced with fast shipping.
September 03, 2011 00:36:58 bertimouse   Need Advice on Computer ASAP! Apparently our old 2002 laptop with an XP op system is dying even with something like a 200 gig external hard drive! -Just can\'t figure out WHY - if everything is being stored into the external drive then why are we having such SLOW problems now? -Folks have been telling us that \"All We Really Need Now\" is an itty-bitty Notebook for our computer needs which consist of allot of emails, photo files, & some small word processing files...however I\'d like the capability of also being able to use [notoriusly large] AUTOCAD, etc. designing-type software...so Please help us out there. We could really use a \"Geek Squad Consultant\" for TOM...to recommend also where to buy this stuff at a reasonable price. Thanks & Here\'s Hoping that Everyone Has a Great Weekend. :)
September 03, 2011 00:25:57 bertimouse   Huh LOL? Don't get your comment. Please explain? Thanks.
September 02, 2011 15:50:18 LOL   Bertimouse - The voice of Masonville. WE say. Nuff said.
September 02, 2011 10:05:23 TX   Hey!! is the ice cream place on rt 8 open yet?
September 01, 2011 20:43:49 bertimouse   So the Good Points about this Storm?: 1.Most of the Weak Trees are down so that future Fall & Winter storms shouldn't do as much tree damage? 2.Everyone will be more ready for the next storm? 3.Folks will get more used to having no power & learn more about the alternatives. 4.Folks will be more informed about the Emergency Management Plans within their Towns. OK Nuff Said.
September 01, 2011 20:30:24 bertimouse   Everyone in the Town of Margaretville could use some help right now if yall are interested...or in Schoharie County which is truly "SCARRY" right now. If you have any relations in VERMONT; they're living on little Islands right now which if you remember the flood of '06 that's what Masonville was for at least 48 hours; these folks may be isolated for weeks! There were College students back-packing down trails to get back to the main roads in order to get back to school! 'Aint that great?[We Love Vermont!] What's not great is that they need folks to re-build their roads FAST. -Anyone with any construction experience who's out of work right now should GO FOR THIS, QUICK!
September 01, 2011 20:05:56 bertimouse   Hi Grumpy; Lucky you that you should have a freezer full of Food! These days ours is pretty empty at the house. We can most of our veggies 7 tomatoes; the freezer out in the garage also has lots of frozen water all the time, too. They say that if you have a(mostly)empty refrigerator it\'s better to stuff it with frozen water anyways...Guess we\'re just weird. We eat what we grow & buy fresh produce weekly just like most of Europe(?)does. No reason to spend any extra money on supplies when we can always shoot & eat possum[a delicacy in France, btw] or rabbits & dear, eh? Thanks Yall for your kind comments, but get ready for another hurricane named Katria coming-me thinks we\'re going to get CLOBBERED with a cat 3 soon though of course my better(?)half says NAH. I\'ll be watching;won\'t know until next Wednesday what path this next Witch is taking. Nuff said. All is well for now.
September 01, 2011 11:03:34 Tony CR-20   Thank you Masonville Resident!
September 01, 2011 10:23:17 Masonville Resident   the hamlet of Masonville is up and running with electric now and were very lucking not to be hit with the devistation that hit the other parts of NYS. Good luck to all.
September 01, 2011 10:04:38 Tony - CR-20   Bertimouse...love your education as well as thoughtful posts! Hope all is well with you and your family!
September 01, 2011 09:54:49 Tony CR-20   We are getting conflicting reports down here in the City. They say NYSEG has shut power to Deleware County, Masonville as a precaution. Can anyone confirm this and does anyone know if the power has been restored to CR-20. Thank you and I hope all is well with everyone up there. We are heading up this weekend and after accessing the damages to my property my services are available to any of the good people of Masonville. (Bringing chainsaws, etc.) Please let me know if you need anything.
September 01, 2011 09:05:35 TX-2   BBQ it!!
September 01, 2011 08:36:42 Grumpy Ernst Keidel CDR.Keidel@gmail.com Thanks for the advice, Bertimouse: \"Freezing a few gallon jugs of water before hand helps with the refrigerator keeping cool for DAYS & it costs NOTHING.\" What does one do with the frozen food while one is keeping the water jugs frozen? Our freezer compartments are full of food and there is very little room for anything else.
September 01, 2011 05:36:26 Robert   Part timer here from houck road. How did masonville fare with the hurricane? NYC got off easy. Hope all is well. Can't wait to get back up there, hope everyone has there power back.
August 31, 2011 21:20:49 bertimouse   "No news is Good News" my Mom always reminded us. It takes 2-5-7 days for Electric to get back "online" in a big-A storm. What would yall say; this was a #3 in terms of folks not being prepared enough? -Just Curious here, Thanks. -We are sure that the TOM Supervisor Craig D. would also like to hear about how the TOM Responded to Everyone, you know? Kudos go to the MVFD, Eh? We'd like to hear more stories about them, too. Thanks My Good Neighbors So Much!
August 31, 2011 20:58:38 bertimouse   Nah, Grumpy; just a good deep-cell marine battery & a 750 watt inverter will do ya for a couple days. BTW Folks; Freezing a few gallon jugs of water before hand helps with the refrigerator keeping cool for DAYS & it costs NOTHING. -Having a camp stove with a few bottles of propane to heat up some water for a Warm Shower also helps - all you need in this here weather is a tin or plastic bucket with holes drilled into the bottom, tied to a tree for a nice warm shower. Or you could rig up a spigot to go into your bathroom window! -Doesn\'t anyone ever CAMP OUT anymore?!? LOL we Love when the Electric goes off; though with this storm it\'s the Most Turned Off we\'ve ever experienced. Good to know that All in TOM are well. If anyone needs anymore Help Please give us a shout out here. We are Here Now & will help you Neighbor if We Can. :)

August 31, 2011 08:02:11 TX   Is power back in MV?
August 30, 2011 20:17:55 Grumpy Ernst Keidel CDR.Keidel@gmail.com Ok, I'm baack! Used to have power outages here before, but they were genarally cleared up in a few hours! One this long is quite unusual. Time to invest in a generator, I think.
August 30, 2011 13:51:10 Part-timer   little storm or earth quake and all breaks loose
August 30, 2011 13:37:15 TX   This country is becoming a third world nation(Banana Republic).
August 30, 2011 10:29:45 TX-2   Back to the Stone age .LOL LOL
August 30, 2011 10:03:41 Grumpy Ernst Keidel CDR.Keidel@gmail.com No, Wishbone, that\'s why I am down at the library (NOT the one in Masonville) using the computer to be able to communicate with the outside world! No electricity, therefore no water, no telephone and of course, the cell phone service doesn\'t reach us!
August 30, 2011 02:21:49 bertimouse   Hey All. Thanks For Being Such Great Neighbors. My Other Half Is HOME NOW after their LONG JOURNEY THROUGH FLOODED HILL & DALES! -Yall have No Idea How Much I TG Right Now, Eh? -GoodNight Irene For Sure!

August 29, 2011 20:58:47 wshbown   hey grumpy is the power on on steam mill yet
August 29, 2011 19:30:19 bertimouse   Well, I'm stuck down in Orange County & my better half(?)is Missing right now-was dumb enough to try & drive back home from Maine yesterday & No Word YET!Not at the job or nothing! My guess is that they're stuck up in Vermont somewhere on an island with of course no cell phone but ARGH! -This won't be the first time I've called the state troopers looking for 'em...guess I'll wait a few more days...power's still out on Pine Hill Rd. & up on Poplar Hill which is our neck of the woods. A good website for road closures is on Oneonta's Daily News website. BTW I'm really ticked off at the news in Orange county for only reporting as far "Upstate" as Sullivan County; Roscoe; SHEESH! That Aint upstate!!! WBNGTV.com is not much help for online stuff either. At least the Governor was around yesterday. More Folks need to send photos & videos down South to news stations around there maybe. Sorry I'm just stressing right now. I'm sure my Family is Fine. Hope you & yours are well, too. :)

August 28, 2011 03:40:23 crzyflea   So long as there are living descendants of those whom were saved due to those two men and so many others still walk this earth their legacy should be unforgotten. Small consolation as that is, to those who lose flesh and blood to such tragedy, it just goes to show that there are heroes who walk among us without our knowing, humble everyday men and women who dare to walk where angels cannot fly. Every 9/11 I light a pair of candles for each, white and yellow for rememberence and hope, and say a prayer of thanks for their sacrifice.
August 28, 2011 03:19:16 crzyflea   to Question and to Les - the Espositos lost a son (Francis) to the towers and a nephew (Michael) as well. Francis was part of Engine Company 235, which was a six man crew. His cousin Michael was part of Park Slope, Brooklyn\'s elite squad 1 and he too was killed in the line of duty. He was promoted to captain posthumously. He and 10 other men in his (Michael\'s) unit went missing, never to be found. Michael was one of the men to volunteer in January 1998 to come upstate when we had the ice storm and flooding that had 5 counties declared national disaster areas. I believe one or two of our boys on the dept up here have at one point or another worn a patch on their rigging or uniforms (not sure which) to honor one or both men.
August 28, 2011 00:22:28 Les   crzyflea:Please elaborate! For us that don't remember! On 911 I was working in our stone quarry when my partners mother drove up and told us.We didn't know.Seeing the towers go down was a shock! Our Pres. Bush told us to not let the terrorist's intimidate us. So we reluctantly went back to work. Not a single plane flew that day, eerie! Not a single plane for days! Let us never forget,911!
August 27, 2011 23:35:39 Les   bertimouse you asked; 'WHY do kids not know about the days before "PAY TV", Microwave Ovens, Personal Computers, Video Games?' Because parents DON'T CARE! Go to a family restaurant, it's sad, you will see families eat. And the Kids,10, 12 yrs spend the whole time tranced by their cellphones, texting. We told our kids they can have one when they can buy one themselves, now my oldest says she can (at twelve). Now she can have one when she NEEDS it (job, driving).I guess her mom and dad ain't 'cool'! As far as camping goes, that was our vacation when I was a kid. Loved it. We only go a couple of times a year, should make it more often . Nothing better than hot days with swimming and fishing followed by cool nights and waking up at the crack of dawn with the birds singing (if you never went camping or get up just before daylight you have never heard the birds SING), campfires and wood smoke and darn good food!
August 27, 2011 19:19:29 question   The Esposito's lost a family member in the military overseas???
August 27, 2011 12:19:21 Observer   Maybe Masonville could adapt the Nuremberg Laws of 1936 and apply them to residents of Masonville who happen to be church attenders? Someone up to adapting them?
August 27, 2011 11:48:00 Observer   Yeh, maybe it could be held on the parking lot of the new town hall and we could post guards at the entrance to the area to check to make sure the attenders were NOT "church" goers!! Gotta make sure them thar "churchers" are not getting into the local government areas!!
August 27, 2011 02:06:02 bertimouse   Les: When we retire we\'re going to teach children about recent history; WHY do kids not know about the days before \"PAY TV\", Microwave Ovens, Personal Computers, Video Games? Doesn\'t anyone take their kids Camping Anymore? Your comments about History Are Cool. Wish more Folks knew what you do. Tell The Kids, you know? And GO CAMPING!
August 27, 2011 01:22:06 bertimouse   So what do you think, Craig: Can the TOM have some kind of Official 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony Somewhere for the Townsfolk that's not part of the Local Church Service inside? We mean no disrespect here; would Love to see it closer to the New Grounds of Town Hall or maybe a more appropriate place would be AT THE FIRE DEPT.? -Just brain-storming here. The TOM FD did such a GREAT JOB for our 200th Anniversary, you know? -What Better Folk to ask to handle a 9/11 Remembrance, you know? Our First Responders Lost So Many of Their Lives That Day, You Know? We should ALL remember them & also be Thankful for The Great Training that All of 'em have had since then. God Forgive Us Here But Today We Were Thinking That 9/11 Helped Us In Only One Way: We Are ALL BETTER PREPARED NOW. This is why we should Always Remember & Never Forget. OK NUFF SAID. Batten Down All Yee Hatches, Argh for the Storm...Tree Branches Down & RAIN will cause Flood waters is all here, but ARGH be Watchful & Stay Safe me Neighbors! We Love You All & will be ready with our chain-saws & extra water & food if yall need it, eh? ARRR. ;)
August 26, 2011 07:53:31 TX2   Getting ready for Irene?
August 26, 2011 01:44:05 crzyflea   Speaking of 9/11 - remember to keep the Esposito family in your thoughts (and prayers). Part timers, but still, in a small town, once you're here, you're one of us, and so too your family. One of our own made the ultimate sacrifice.
August 24, 2011 17:15:49 TX-2   Was in Jersey and the ground felt like water!!!
August 23, 2011 14:09:15 Les   Anybody else feel the ground wiggle? Turned on the news and there was a 5.8 earthquake in Virginia, Washington DC area! WOW felt in Masonville!
August 23, 2011 01:03:39 Les   Grumpy asked, \"Now, if Masonville Fire Department had two ladder trucks, we could recreate a similar display.\" This combined with it\'s story would make a great tribute to the fallen of 911, probably make the local papers.Another idea, maybe TOM could hoist it up with their excavator and a ladder truck?
August 22, 2011 17:38:36 ted DCO ted.tiska @ yahoo.com hey grumpy . regarding the flag I m sure Shreiff Mills would love to find a way to display it! Please give him a call 607 746 -2336
August 22, 2011 15:13:16 Observer   During the night someone walked right up on my lawn and stole an air compressor. I hope they have better luck with it than I did. I could never get it to hold pressure. Maybe they can let me know what was wrong with it if they get it working properly.
August 22, 2011 08:59:56 Observer   I agree. Religion should never be any part of the U.S. government. We might, by accident actually get a representative or president that was honest, moral, and not a self centered leech. That would cause no end of confusion in the halls of government. After all how could we deal with a person who was not a chronic liar and cheat? After all the way it is now we can depend upon our representatives being crooks.
August 22, 2011 01:36:04 Les   Actually bertimouse if we look at history the phrase "separation of church and state" itself does not appear in the United States Constitution, but in a personal letter sent by Thomas Jefferson to church leaders in Connecticut. The First Amendment states that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." "wall of separation between church and state," as written by Thomas Jefferson in 1802 "I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,' thus building a wall of separation between Church & State." Jefferson reflected his frequent speaking theme that the government is not to interfere with religion.
August 21, 2011 21:44:52 bertimouse   WHATEVER Religion in This Here State & Country Should Always Be Separate from Our Government! Period. End Of Story! -A Wise Man Once Said; "Keep It Simple, Stupid." -Nuff Said About A Topic Already Part Of Our Constitution! -Let's Move On, Will Yall? Geez Louise! p.s. To Grumpy: Take care of That Big Flag! We've got a 24'x50' circa 1948 one that we cherish now. My Dad hung it over the House when my Mom had Twins, Ha Ha. :)
August 20, 2011 16:39:25 Observer   The First Amendment to the US Constitution NEVER disallowed religion into the government. It was not until the Bleeding heart, knee jerk liberals started whining that it became an issue. The amendment says the government shall not ESTABLISH a religion. Says nothing about recognizing or even taking part in religion.
August 19, 2011 18:59:03 Les   Bertimouse, how long has the memorial to our fallen soldiers been on the front lawn of the Masonville Church? Why would it need to be relocated? Did you hear about the World Trade Center cross, also known as the Ground Zero Cross? Two steel beams from the World Trade Center, fused at right angles, that were found in the smoldering pile of rubble nearly 10 years ago.Nobody put this cross there.Since 9/11, this cross has filled many mourning hearts with some small measure of hope and faith and calm. The cross is displayed at New York’s 9/11 memorial site. And now, a group of atheists wants to rip that away, arguing in a lawsuit that putting the object on display in an official exhibit hall amounts to a core constitutional violation. Sometimes the separation of church and state just goes to far.
August 19, 2011 17:55:40 Les   Great idea Grumpy. I bet it would make it in the local papers!
August 19, 2011 08:52:49 Grumpy Ernst Keidel CDR.Keidel@gmail.com About 9/11 - Do you remember the ceremonies held at "Ground Zer" after the attack? Do you remembere that huge American flag displayed between two extended fire truck ladders? That very flag is in my possession! A fairly recent resident on Route 20 was/is Highway a Superintendent in NYC and took eventual custody of that flag. Since I was Commander of the closest DAV (Disabled American Veterans) chapter in Oneonta, he figured that flag would be in good hands with me. A couple of years ago we even tried to display it there. Although this flag is smaller that Steve Anderson's on the hill, it was still too large for the flag pole at the Veterans Club in Oneonta. We would have had to bungee up the end in order to keep it from touching the ground. Now, if Masonville Fire Department had two ladder trucks, we could recreate a similar display. Ant other ideas?
August 18, 2011 18:55:50 bertimouse   Some small Towns in NYS got small sections of the WTT steel; don't know how they got 'em but they did & they really cherish it but TOM doesn't need a piece of twisted & burnt metal standing in the middle of the new Town Hall Lawn/Entry to remember, you know? -It'd be nice if we could have some sort of 9/11 Memorial outside at the new Town Hall & while we're at it, here's a question: Once the new Town Hall Annex is built, will the Other Memorials be Relocated from the Church Front Lawn (thereby formerly separating Church from State)? -Just wondering...we foresee [eventually] a beautiful, peaceful & shady spot with a few concrete benches for all to reflect on ALL the memorials, with a flagpole, flowers, bushes, etc. -The boy & girl scouts & our fire dept. could help with that, yes? Again just dreaming here, Thanks.
August 17, 2011 22:55:21 what?   I didn't know Masonville did anything for 911. It is more of a NY thing, and national, not usually local.Good to see you care bertimouse,! Some left wingers say we should give it up! We might be able to forgive but we will never forget!! 911!! Thanks for the reminder Berti!
August 17, 2011 21:22:07 bertimouse   So what's TOM doing for 9/11(4)Sundays from now; anything? We haven't heard about anything yet. Craig can you speak about this here Please? Thanks.
August 17, 2011 15:21:17 Observer   Just drive down route 206 toward Bainbridge and just west of county route 20 is a fellow who sells wood. You will see piles of wood near the road on the righthand side.
August 17, 2011 14:00:07 John   Looking for a facecord of wood delivered to Masonville. Any ideas ?
August 14, 2011 11:30:53 wondering   Sounds like Mr. Barnes is a avid reader of this 'unofficial' Masonville website. Is he a anonymous poster as well?
August 13, 2011 12:52:18 Doubting   Let's see. I go to my lawyer and say, "some anonymous person on an open message board said something I do not agree with. I want to sue the owner of the message board." Somehow I do not think it would fly actually.
August 13, 2011 11:25:56 no name   as to the messages posted here and the content the web mnaster and the host bet be-ware law suit !!!!!!!!!!!!
August 12, 2011 17:19:44 Observer   I was just reading the minutes of the August Town Meeting. There are complaints about the use of this board. Well, the solution is simple. Don't read it. It states in the Town Board minutes that there was discussion with the attending public and the Board. What was discussed? Tar and feathering for the users of this board? Public lashings? Burning at the stake? Hanging? Yeah some on this board let their emotions show. So what? It is a privately maintained board and is up to the owner to decide how far it will go. No threats have been made; and only one person was called an A**hole;and that happened to be me who was the recipient of that statement. Probably hear worse at any heated discussion about any subject. Censoring this board because it happens to post the Town Board Meeting minutes is hardly justified. Or is a case that someone posted a message on this board that hit to close to someone? I was told in private by an individual that it "might be better if I did not post to this board for the good of the community". Come on now! What could I possibly say on this board that would bring any harm to this "community"? I find that ludicrous and humorous at the same time even though it sounds pretty close to Fascism.
August 12, 2011 08:13:23 Part Timer   There is a lot of wood cutting up Shears Rd,wonder if anyone is going to see a deer upthere this year, just passed by this weekend and even on Sunday they are inthere, thats going to mess up hunting i bet.
August 11, 2011 09:26:38 Les   Thats a hecka of a good idea TinkerBell. When or if the elusive EVIL Masonville bear is harvested I bet profit could be made off it. Like a freak show at the fair, a HUGE ugly picture outside advertising, then disappointment when they actually go inside and see it wasn't as advertised.
August 11, 2011 07:39:35 Part timer   Because you have not seen it ,it doesnt mean it is not there, too bad for you,we all have seen some sign of it,guess you have to be more in the woods,Big Bad Bear is not going to show up in your living room.
August 11, 2011 01:28:09 TinkerBell   I can`t believe this EVIL MASONVILLE BEAR is still being talked about?? It`s like 2 years now and the same bunch TEX , CC and his 4 other screen names keeps on talking about it enough with the pancake mix, scratches , footprints and sightings. If your a big bad hunter, track it, shoot it, stuff it and display it in our town of Masonville and charge a $1.00 for us to see this BIGFOOT already ! Then maybe you can post about something interesting! :)
August 10, 2011 20:45:37 bertimouse   Taxpayer: If you search the past TOM board mtg. minutes online you'll find all the votes on that; look for building committee reports. In our household we also have a "NYS CEO" [New York State Code Enforcement Officer]. We've offered pro-bono work to the Town anytime but they actually have their own, which is Very Pro-Active for TOM. For what it's worth & if this helps; we are confident in their abilities regarding the construction of the new Town Hall Annex.
August 10, 2011 20:27:08 bertimouse   Dear X-CC: Well, yah the DEC does monitor the state forests in MV. We know about that for a fact. Allot of local folks call the Stamford office regularly about those lands, so it's on their Radar, so to speak - just so you know about it neighbor; they're There regularly.
August 10, 2011 20:12:26 bertimouse   Les: We heard that the MV Bear is stuffed & currently part of the window display at the General Store. :) -Did you hear about the Male Mountain Lion that they found dead in CT? They tracked it by DNA to be from N. Dakota or something like that? -The DEC figures that the Big Cat traveled through Central NY, down through the Catskills & Hudson Valley area to get to CT. WOW! Finally a Confirmed Migration Yall!
August 09, 2011 07:44:39 EX-CC   Thanks!!

August 08, 2011 14:46:17 Observer   Taxpayer - I am not sure there is a contractor as such. I think they are contracting out those things the town crew is not capable of doing and letting the town crew do the rest as time allows. Mr. Michael Spaccaforno of Forno Construction, I think, is over seeing the venture. Mr. Spaccaforno is a member of the Town Board.
August 08, 2011 07:32:16 CC   Well, somebody has been posting BS and singing my name, thats not right. from now on I will sign with a different name
August 08, 2011 01:05:00 Les   Observer- One of two brothers I know that hunt by me moved to PA to be closer to his kids, his older brother who was buying the old coots license for five dollars picked on him because he had to buy a non-resident license. A year later NY state raised hunting licenses and raised the age limit for Senior hunting to 70yrs. Now the older brother is paying a hundred dollars a year for a couple more years after paying full price for 50yrs! I guess the state has to have more money.
August 07, 2011 21:55:34 taxpayer   say does any one know the name of the contractor building the new town hall
August 07, 2011 20:39:12 Observer   Les - Read your posts about hunting and fishing licences here in the State of "Noo Yok". While it has been years since I purchased a hunting licence and at my age they give me an old coots licence for $5.00 for fishing; I agree the prices you mentioned are totally out of line. And, insane thinking. I guess I come from a different age and different outlook on life. I even remember when a cop could stop you for a traffic infraction and you were not automatically a "scum bag". I also remember the day when any farmer would allow you to hunt his land as long as you respected it and his livestock. Now days someone from out of state buys the land and cuts down a forest to get enough material to put a poster every foot around the land. There is even a piece of land near me that is completely fenced in with high tension fencing which must have cost a bundle. Has a automatic locked gate etc. I also remember the day when you could actually buy gas at a "gas station!!" They would wash the windows, check the oil and fluff the tires in the process. Now days you buy it at a "mini mart" where they do not know what to do with cash. Totally confuses them. If you are going to pay cash you first have to leave at least $50 and your first born in order to go pump the gas yourself and you find the pump will ring up 50 cents before it begins to deliver any gas. They don't trust us. Well, I don't trust them either. I remember when statesmen served as our representatives in the state and federal government. What do we have now? A bunch of trained chimps with bad morals. Les- it is a different day and different age and as I get older I find it more difficult to deal with.
August 07, 2011 00:20:19 Les   OOPS! again add another $50 dollars for non-residents if they want a chance at the evil Masonville bear that is too smart to kill $330 dollars, plus the cost of ammo, a gun, camo, a place to stay and food! And now I hear of minumum antler restrictions ! Maybe the non-residents will have nothing to show for their investment!
August 06, 2011 23:44:57 Les   In response to cc's post on 8-3-11 not tx, oops!
August 06, 2011 23:41:10 Les   TX: I wouldn't take for granted not seeing a DEC.They ARE HERE! Even in Masonville! I don't blame you though , if I paid what non-residents paid to maybe shoot a deer and get maybe forty pounds of meat I wouldn't buy a license either! I pay a hundred dollars a year now as a RESIDENT and catch very few fish, very few small game , get my share of deer sometimes, never a EVIL bear and I don't turkey hunt. The state decided to R A P E us and see how rich they could get, it backfired on them , they lost money. So if you hunt without a $280 license I don't blame you!
August 06, 2011 23:26:34 Les   So what are the guidelines for posting, I do not see any rules. What was offensive? Was it Observers use of the Q word or bertimouse's use of the A word , or was it what?'s political blah blah in retaliation for bertimouses political blah blah?? Or the blah blah in general? And where in the h e c k is that Masonville bear? All I know is the evil Masonville Hare is still attacking my garden!
August 06, 2011 10:48:51 TOM Webmaster   Wishy Washy Reader YOU offended NO ONE. Especially me.
August 06, 2011 00:26:41 wishy washy reader   OK I got it. I didn't mean to offend anyone or say I didn't appreciate this site for what it is. I thought the comment about the offical site was stating it was informative in the same way as this site. I now understand the difference and how to use the 2 sites. Sorry again if I offended!
