January 17, 2013 12:35:36 what?   Observer is right, they will try to take our guns away. Who is safer now that I can only put seven rounds in my ten rd clip for my .22 when I go small game hunting? Zero lives will be saved do to King Obama and King Cuomo's gun restrictions. Many law abiding good Americans have had there rights stripped from them due to these gun bills. 80 million gun owners in the U.S. will vote these Libtards out of office just like they did after Clinton's gun ban. From 1994 when Clinton banned guns to 2002 the voters voiced their opinion at the ballot box and Clinton's gun ban was thrown out. King Cuomo just ruined his chances of ever becoming President.
January 17, 2013 12:33:43 Observer   ?tahw - Let me ask you a question. I own guns that use clips that will hold more than 10 rounds. The new law states I may not put more than seven rounds in the clip. Now do you honestly think a person bent on doing damage with a gun with a clip that holds more than 7 rounds is going to give that ANY consideration? On the other hand if I load more than 7 rounds in my 10 round clip than I am automatically a criminal. One "point" in the law is what feature makes a firearm an assault rifle is a thumb hole stock. (It needs only ONE distinguishing point to be declared an assault rifle) I own 2 bolt action rifles, one is a 30-06 with a 4 round mag and the other is a single shot target 22 calibre rifle. Both have custom thumb hole stocks. Under the new Nazi law both are now assault weapons. Let me carry this over into already existing laws as far as motor vehicles are concerned. NYS law states if I refuse to take a alcohol breathalyzer test or a blood test my driving privilege is immediately and automatically revoked. I do not have to be under the influence; all I have to do is refuse. Back to my rifles. I do not have to have any intent to use them in any illegal fashion, (they can be hanging on my wall)just the fact I own them now makes me a criminal. 99.9999% of all so called assault weapons are purchased more for the macho image than for any other reason. USA has one of the lowest murder rates per thousand than any country than bans or heavily controls gun ownershp. Switzerland sees 50% of all adults owning firearms and the murder rate in the country is practially non-existent. In fact in Switzerland murder by firearm is an anomaly.
January 17, 2013 12:23:07 WHAT!   What? yea really consertive raised your taxes and will continue if the tax payers do not hold them to the law no property tax should increase more than 2%.Same at the county level no excuses period.
January 17, 2013 12:07:15 ?tahw   Observer why don't you read the entire legislation with open eyes. Your weapons are not being taken away. Instead of listening to the BS of the NRA, read it again and make up your own mind.
January 17, 2013 11:48:03 Observer   Just been reading the bill signed by King Coumo concerning firearms (S 2230) and (A 2388). Scary stuff to see our rights to own firearms and the right to defend ourselves with firearms being taken away from us with not even a whimper from the public. I wonder if the 7 round law applies to our trigger happy law enforcement as well? I QUOTE: " THIS YEAR WILL GO DOWN IN HISTORY, FOR THE FIRST TIME, A CIVILIZED NATION HAS FULL GUN REGISTRATION. OUR STREETS WILL BE SAFER, OUR POLICE MORE EFFICIENT, AND THE WORLD WILL FOLLOW OUR LEAD INTO THE FUTURE!" ADOLF HITLER 1935. King Coumo said pretty much the same thing on TV the other day. Of course banning firearms makes our police more "efficient" makes it a lot easier to round us up when our Nazi state decides it is time to do that. Now the federal gov under the "leadership" of the smiling idiot in the White House will do the same as King Coumo. Can posting this get me on someone's list? Probably if I am not already on that list.
January 17, 2013 11:45:00 what?   I'm also confused as to why? so many are using my screen name, can't? y'all think of one more original?
January 17, 2013 11:40:58 what?   I'm confused, I thought I voted for the most conservative candidates. Who was on the ballot that was more conservative than those who were elected?
January 17, 2013 10:47:02 Hard working taxpayer   Only landowner/deed holders (names on a property deed) should be able to vote on matters that envolve taxes based on land/home value.
January 17, 2013 10:02:43 What!   WHAT???? yes I do the taxpayer got screwed again because people refuse to due thier Jobs for which they are payed. I get it, It is the good ol boys crew.
January 17, 2013 09:56:47 What???   YOU JUST DONT GET IT!
January 17, 2013 05:49:06 What!   WHAT I feel that the board did not work hard enough to lower the budget it would have taken time and a really thought out process to acheive this. WHAT it is easy to blame the state that is the problem it is the boards responsabilty to keep us under 2% even a decline would be nice but no lets just blame the state and raise the taxes 4%.
January 16, 2013 23:40:37 what?   Again, I would like to know how many voted for the expensive, toxic field, and are against the state creating jobs and lowering taxes and fuel prices with natural gas.
January 16, 2013 23:35:41 what?   Why? does so many use my what?,why? are there so many WHATS?I don't want to change my nom de plume,.
January 16, 2013 19:21:27 Old Fa rt   Artificial Turf, you all will be sorry after a few years
January 16, 2013 18:18:37 WHAT????   The Town Budget is raised 4-6% just by the State Mandated insurance and retirement costs! The 2% cap is a sham and the State knows it! That is why they created the ability to override the tax cap. They knw they locals could not comply. However, the State politicians look like the hereos and the locals like the villans. This sets up a framework of eventually doing away with local government and moving toward a big, regionalized government. Imagine how responsive your representatives will be when the closest one is 2 counties away? School taxes are 1/2 of local taxes and at least you get to face your local town representative on the street.
January 16, 2013 14:53:42 What!   What the vote is over move on what is going to happen next year It seems ok to you to vote to over ride the 2 percent tax cap with the roads in the condition they are you will proberly see a 5 to 9 percent increas next year pay attention
January 16, 2013 08:34:01 what?   What!, you keep complaining about the bypassing of the tax cap, but what? is your thoughts on pouring more $multi-millions$ of 'free' taxpayer dollars on a athletic field?
January 16, 2013 08:31:03 what?   You forget local voter, these people don't care about all the millions of 'free' money that is spent. They don't seem to care that Sidney is at the bottom in the state academically. I would like to know how many voted for the expensive toxic field, and are against the state creating jobs and lowering taxes and fuel prices with natural gas.
January 16, 2013 08:29:18 What!   Reasonable They still campained not to raise taxes but our board voted to override the 2% TAX LEVY AND RAISED OUR TAXES.You can say what you want about what hapenned years ago but today we cannot afford any more increases and the board over rides the 2% TAX LEVY AND RAISED OUR TAXES.Same at the county level.
January 16, 2013 08:04:03 local voter   First, we spent tons of money on our Masonville and S.C. schools and they were closed, now money on the field for the high school, do you think that will help our academic rate come up, probably not, but we can have a top notch athletic field for all to admire!!!!! I for one am not proud to live in Sidney school district and never have been. (3 generations of my family have attended this school and it was always about "Sidney"!!!!!!!!!!!!
January 16, 2013 07:44:11 thankful   what? I would recommend to you, to not allow any of you five children to use the new field and to not play at any school that has artificial turf. That way your children will be safe. Thanks for your concern about the welfare of all the children.
January 16, 2013 07:06:11 what?   All that voted for the field should have done some research. Artificial turf costs MORE in the short term AND long term. The only ones who say it costs less are the ones selling them. When the air temperature is in the 80’s or 90’s, temperatures above the turf can exceed 150° F., sure does limit it's usage. And there is more injuries with artificial turf. In a survey of NFL players, 74% preferred natural grass systems and said “make all fields grass to prevent injuries.” Artificial turf infill contains a mix of chemicals. These chemicals include, rubber chemicals, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and heavy metals – lead, zinc and cadmium. It is recommended to attempt to remove the pellets from shoes and clothes prior to leaving the fields. At home, shake out your children’s equipment and clothes in the garage or over the garbage. Have your child shower and wash thoroughly after playing on the field. Artificial fields also increase Staph infection, unless it is treated with antimicrobial chemicals, increasing our children's exposure to even more chemicals.
January 16, 2013 06:55:06 Reasonable   People should really be informed. There has not been "new" taxes in Town for many years. The 2% tax cap is a joke as the unfunded mandates from the State (retirement and health insurance) result in a 4-6% increase almost every year before you even consider anything else such a increased fuel costs, road materials, etc. The Town has been working with less each and every year and still maintains the smallest budget of any Town in Delaware County. I go to the Board meetings and stay informed...maybe others should too!
January 16, 2013 05:05:23 1-1613   At least the school let you know of the tax increase we have sitting board members in our town and in Delhi at the supervispors meeting that ran a campain of no new taxs got elected and vetoed the 2% cap raised our taxes but that is ok right!
January 16, 2013 01:56:30 Jan 16 2013   Outcome of the Capital Vote Proposition #1 (auditorium, field project, and boilers) Passed 539 321 Proposition #2 (Capital Reserve) Passed 581 272 ((keep in mind these numbers reflect all the NON-TAX payers that vote too eg. HS students ))
January 15, 2013 19:42:53 I voted NO   I don't see why there should even be sports in school. I thought schools were for education. I have been paying taxes for decades and I don't even have kids!!
January 15, 2013 19:37:19 Old Fa rt   This gun BS is just BS,the bad guy is not going to count the bullets,OH no i have too many bullets. WAKE UP!!!!!!
January 15, 2013 18:15:47 Observer   Well, King Coumo has signed the bill. The first step in taking away all gun rights in NYS. Heart of the bill is taking aways the counties right to issue handgun licenses and giving it to the state. Plus a ban on more than 7 bullets in a clip. Boy that is going to stop the criminals!!
January 15, 2013 15:19:34 Who!   I voted yes to the Project and no to giving money for them to bank
January 15, 2013 15:17:38 Me   I voted no
January 14, 2013 23:23:15 what?   Dear, ??what??, I came very close to taking my kids out of Sidney and home schooling them, I still can, I have five kids, think how much that would cost Sidney. If you don't think it will cost them money, because I will still be paying taxes, then you don't know how the school system works.
January 14, 2013 23:15:55 what?   Is this Obama holding out his hand for a donation?
January 14, 2013 23:14:15 what?   Dear,??? "Be a man, sign your real name and stand up for your beliefs".How about you listen to your own advice! Who are you? Be a MAN! Most people in my town know who I am, so I take it this little back in forth of those who want, and those who give, is coming from disgruntled, bitter, Sidney residents. I ask again, DOES SIDNEY NEED ARTIFICIAL TURF WHEN IT IS MORE EXPENSIVE, stop being sheep, and think where your tax dollars are going.
January 14, 2013 23:04:59 ??what??   what? Be glad that other taxpayers are paying for your children's education. That is what a society does. Pay the $ 4 and vote yes.
January 14, 2013 23:04:15 what?   And by the way, the extra classes were not 'electives',my kids really didn't want to take classes in the next grade, the school pushed them. We as parents said "why not your smart you can handle it" The school has to up their grade with whatever they can even if that means pushing younger kids to exceed. I doubt Sidney likes riding close to the bottom academically.
January 14, 2013 22:58:04 ????   what? with a parent like you as an example, I'm sure that our country will be a much better place. Be a man, sign your real name and stand up for your beliefs.
January 14, 2013 22:55:18 what?   @what is a joke; My kids are future taxpayers not future dependents on the taxpayer like yours, so keep teaching yours how to receive. The state and country is going to make much more off my kids then they put in, especially with Obama in office sucking us dry, at the expense of our children.
January 14, 2013 22:53:40 what a joke   what? Extra classes like electives? THey don't cost anything. Yeah Right. what are you smoking
January 14, 2013 22:51:24 ????   what? The project will create jobs and help our local economy. Remember trickle down economics?
January 14, 2013 22:49:37 what?   @what is a joke; Extra classes are during school you idiot, no cost to the taxpayer, keep picking up your welfare check and talking on your Obamaphone.
January 14, 2013 22:42:41 what is a joke   what? Extra classes? How much is that costing the taxpayers?? You are a classic freeloader. I'm sure it cost more than $4 .
January 14, 2013 22:42:17 what?   WHY? How many millions do we have to spend? When does it end? Do you really think it only costs us four bucks?
January 14, 2013 22:39:42 agree with vote yes   what? Norwich, Greene, Chenango Forks all have artificial turf, as well as UE, ME, and Binghamton.
January 14, 2013 22:36:49 why not???   what? So your children attend school. I'm sure that your tax bill covers the true cost to educate them? You receive much more from our government than you have ever paid in. Stop being cheap, spend the $4
January 14, 2013 22:32:55 what?   @why not? Did you read my below posts? It costs us more to put in state of the art artificial turf than to have natural fields, why do we need to pay for something most schools do not have?
January 14, 2013 22:29:58 what?   How many 'freebies' do you receive? I don't know how to get this 'free' money, I have always worked for and teach my children to work for everything they 'want'. Y'all sound like Obama voters waiting for their welfare. So teach your children how to become dependent while I teach mine how to exceed. BTW my kids are on high honor roll and are taking extra classes above their grade,we need more like them and maybe Sidney wouldn't be at the bottom in the state academically.
January 14, 2013 22:26:23 why not?   what? Something has to be done to the current fields. Doing nothing will cost the school district to play away games. How much will that raise your taxbill. There are additional costs to parents, grandparents and other taxpayers who have to travel to watch their children play. I think $4 is not too much to spend
January 14, 2013 22:12:01 yes   The problem with our country is too many people like what?. They receive plenty of freebies from our government, but they don't want to pay for anything. Vote YES
January 14, 2013 22:08:17 what????   what? I suppose that you have never received anything from our government. You are just a cheap grumpy old man. Vote YES.
January 14, 2013 22:04:04 what?   @voting yes;Neither the town of Masonville or Sidney Center have a sewer treatment plant or public water system, and you think our taxpayer dollars should, in the town of Sidney, not only support the maintenance of a Olympic size pool but artificial turf as well? (just for the record I am not advocating public sewer or water).
January 14, 2013 21:57:10 what?   @voting yes;Yeah, our kids who are achieving and excelling,(pun intended)have a state of the art artificial turf football field coming to them, they are entitled to it. They all need in school personal big screen TV's too, it'll only cost a few cents per thousand (pun intended). Your attitude is exactly what is bringing this country to it's knees, 16 TRILLION dollars in debt, much of this country is owned by Communist China! So spend some more 'FREE' money!
January 14, 2013 21:39:34 Old Fa rt   SPEND,SPEND AND MORE SPEND,WHO CARES WHERE THE MONEY IS COMING FROM.EASY COME,EASY GO.
January 14, 2013 21:38:03 what?   voting yes; stop being so ignorant. Natural grass athletic fields cost less not only to purchase but to maintain compared to Synthetic Artificial Turf.Synthetic fields require 1) additional infill, 2) irrigation because of unacceptably high temperatures on warm-sunny days, 3) chemical disinfectants, 4) sprays to reduce static cling and odors, 5) drainage repair and maintenance, 6) erasing and repainting temporary lines, and 7) removing organic matter accumulation. Artificial fields need replacing every 8-10 years, whereas a natural turf field does not need as frequent renovation and can be renovated at a much reduced price compared to an artificial field. In a 16-year scenario, Fresenburg came up with an annual average cost for each field type as follows: the natural soil-based field, $33,522; the sand-cap grass field, $49,318; the basic synthetic field, $65,846; and the premium synthetic field, $109,013.When artificial turf (in-fill systems) needs renovating every 8-10 years, there is a hidden cost of disposal. Because the field is filled and top-dressed with a crumb rubber material (typically made from ground automobile tires), the material may require special disposal. Disposal costs are estimated at $130,000 plus transportation and landfill charges.A recent survey of 1,511 active NFL players by the NFL players association found that 73% of the players preferred playing on a natural grass system, while only 18% preferred artificial turf. Players were asked in a 2006 survey “Which surface do you think causes more soreness and fatigue to play on?”. Five-percent felt like natural grass systems increased fatigue, while 74% felt that artificial turf systems were more responsible for fatigue (5). Twenty-one percent felt they were the same. In the open comments section of the survey, the most common comment was “make all fields grass to prevent injuries.”
January 14, 2013 20:10:53 voting yes   what? When was the last time that you walked on any of the playing fields at the High School? I don\'t know how any reasonable person could possibly consider those fields safe to play on. The proposed tax rate is approx. 4 cents/$1000 assessment. I think most people can easily afford the cost. One lawsuit by an injured athlete or spectator will cost millions. Stop being so ignorant.
January 14, 2013 18:21:12 FYI SCS Jan 15 2013   Remember to vote tomorrow Jan 15 the Capital Project Vote from 7 am to 8 pm in the high school auditorium lobby
January 14, 2013 17:50:57 what?   This is confirmed;;2012-2013 Persistently Dangerous Schools Designation Based on Violent and Disruptive Incident Reports 29 November 2012 THE STATE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT NY. Persistently Dangerous Schools Carried Over from Previous Years.Sidney Middle School is still on the list for school year 2011-2012. 17 schools are on the list, almost all Bronx,Queens,Brooklyn,Manhattan, schools. And little ole rural Sidney,I think these kids deserve a state of the art artificial turf football field to PLAY on.
January 14, 2013 17:39:21 what?   What does a heating system have to do with artificial turf? You say the field is unsafe? When did that happen? After some 'free' taxpayer grant money was available? How many football games did you attend? I came down old rt. 8 many times this summer and seen the ball field all lit up, fans hooting and hollering. You know the 'unsafe and unplayable' football field. And Sidney had one heck of a good football team this year! If they would forget the artificial turf for a football field they have spent millions of taxpayer dollars on in the last ten years and fix the drainage, they might have my vote.
January 14, 2013 16:51:22 Masonville Resident   how does a uncofirmed drug problem fix the outdated heating system how does the drug proplem fix the out dated autotoruim how does the drug problem fix a unfixable feilds and a track that has had no maitenance and we cannot use it being unsafe. How many meeting have you guys attended. lets just out in more mony for transportation more fuel less energy from the fossill fuels the burn in the buildings. good luck people wait till next years tax bill when it is voted down.
January 14, 2013 15:46:57 what?   'Voting NO'.; I don't know if their drug problem is any worse, but as of a year ago Sidney middle school was added to the persistently dangerous schools list. No other local schools are on that list. Has any of this changed 'Whatever'? And do you think a few $million more$ and artificial turf will help the problem?
January 14, 2013 15:40:03 what?   Wow, you sound like Obama, 'we have to spend money to save money'! what? How many schools in the area have artificial turf as a necessity? Has the fact that "$2,550,000 million of such sum shall be raised by a tax levy" changed? The country is BROKE, the state is BROKE, the town and school WILL be BROKE when state aid is drastically cut, and area school tax base is significantly lower (jobs have been and are still moving out of the area, vacant homes means NO tax money coming in!). Over $40 MILLION has been spent on this school for 'improvements' since the football field was built. OHH, but I guess they are 'entitled' to it.How is Sidney doing now academically? Just a year ago Sidney school was academically ranked 43 from the BOTTOM of 431 schools! Yeah they NEED a artificial turf football field that has to be redone every ten years at the taxpayer expense. Just like they needed a Olympic size swimming pool on the taxpayer dollar that costs a teachers salary for heat and chemicals.
January 14, 2013 15:36:09 Voting NO.   How will we save in the end? I don't feel that the school needs these upgrades. They need to focus on how well the kids are being taught and keeping a better eye on them. (I had heard that Sidney has a drug problem. Is this true?) Also keep an eye on how many little perks the staff is taking home for there own personal use. Computers or iPads, things like that.
January 14, 2013 12:37:53 Whatever   What how did you become informed. Did you go to the meetings. The only person I have seen at the meetings and asking questions to the board and the Supertendent. I will be voting yes, as at the meeting Denis brought up graet resons for us to upgrade our facilities as to save future wasting of our tax dollars. At least the school is giving you something of value. The town board and county board over ruled the 2% taxcap to raise our taxes but that is ok? Please vote yes we will save in the end.
January 14, 2013 10:49:57 what?   It is your own choice, get informed. I will be voting for the taxpayer who is sick of this country's entitlement mentality. They need to scrap the artificial turf and stop saying it will be paid for with 'free' money.Last year they said that our taxes will not go up, we will be using 'free' money. But if you read the Sidney minutes;"$2,550,000 million of such sum shall be raised by a tax levy", of the $4.2 million project. Has any of that changed?
January 14, 2013 08:32:05 Who!   Resident of masonville how should we vote.
January 13, 2013 00:07:52 what?   Sidwell Friends School in Washington, DC posted a job opening for a night shift police officer on Nov. 16, the posting is still on their website.Candidates would have to provide copies of their training credentials, SPO license, and professional references. According to a scan of the school's online faculty-staff directory, Sidwell has a security department made up of at least 11 people. Many of those are armed police officers. David Gregory mocked the NRA's Wayne LaPierre for proposing that armed guards be at every school in America. But the Liberal NBC host has no problem with armed guards protecting his kids everyday where they attend school at Sidwell. With Obama's children going to school at Sidwell, there is armed Secret Service agents on the campus also.Clinton's daughter, and Gores son, attended the same school, as does Vice Pres. Biden's grandchildren. These anti-gun Liberals children sit under the protection of guns, while the children of regular Americans are sacrificed. The Journal News of West Nyack, New York doesn't want New Yorkers to be allowed to own guns they printed in their paper every handgun owner in their county, now theives and burglers know where they can steal guns. ThencThe Journal News hire armed guards to patrol its offices. Dirty Hypocrites!
January 12, 2013 13:57:08 Observer   Obama and Coumo and the clown in NYC want to take away gun rights and do away with the second amendment, but Obama just signed lifetime armed protection for himself and you never see King Coumo without a contingent of State Police and NYC Clown has the same. Then of course we have Feinstein in congress who is always armed and has at her disposal 5 armed guards and she wants to see firearms taken away from all except the military and the police. (HINT: That is called a "Police State").Whenever I see a picture of her she reminds me of the story told about Abraham Lincoln. Seems Abe went into a town and a guy with a shotgun stopped him and said, "I vowed if I ever seen anyone homelier than myself I would shoot him." Abe studied the man for a minute and replied, "Shoot". I wonder how many people realize that the USA has the most firearms in the hands of the poplace but has one of the lowest murder rates per 1000 of any country that outlaws firearms? Our murder rate is about 4.2 per thousand from all types of murder.
January 11, 2013 13:17:14 resident of masonville   Remember to vote at high school next week! Spread the word to vote.
January 11, 2013 05:35:21 who cares   bye bertimouse this forum i do beleive was not intended for that kind of message.. I will no longer read or post to anything you put on this board.
January 10, 2013 22:07:30 Old Fa rt   Better stay away from TOM Troopers are been call in!!!!
January 10, 2013 18:20:04 Responsible pet owner   About the dog that was hit in the road. I live in that area and this individual you speak badly of has helped me many times. He has helped me get my vehicle unstuck from snow covered roads, checked on my well being in the fall of 2011 when power was lost for several days, and he has even returned my puppy when she wasn't yet trained to stay out of the road and had wandered off. If my dog ever was hit in road, it would be no ones fault but my own. It is my reponsibilty to keep my pets of out a roadway, whether it's the first snow of the season on a dead end road or a sunny day on a high traffic area. I understand you are upset over losing your puppy but I do not believe this is the right forum to "vent" nor was it the correct way to handle/cope with your lose. How would you like it if someone placed your name and address (along with only half of what really happened that day) on a public website as you have done??
January 10, 2013 13:37:09 The Old Man   Bertimouse, hopefully you will stop writting things about others, if dog was trained to stay out of road he would not have been hit. We all hope to not hear from you on the message board anymore, that is us in Masonville and whoever else reads this. (was it even your dog?)
January 09, 2013 23:22:18 SCSmeeting   FYI... January 09, 2013 22:45:55 what?   Actually voter, we need to vote, that stirs the pot more. I would like to have heard what Denis had to say though.
January 09, 2013 13:08:06 voter   what all was talked about? We need more people to attend these meetings and stir the school board up a little and give them something to think about other than what they want.
January 09, 2013 11:30:08 Resident of Masonville   Did anyone go to the school board meeting for the building project.I heard that Denis gave them a run for thier money.
January 08, 2013 18:30:21 tax payer   don't forget the school vote on the 15.
January 08, 2013 10:40:44 Observer   Dogs do, at times, wander free. Our big black, dumb lab loves to explore and if he accidently gets free of his 100 foot cable run he will take off. I always worry about him tangling with a truck on the highway, But thus far the few times he has wandered I have either found him or a neighbor has brought him back. We do the same when we see one of our neighbors dogs wandering around. Our lab is big, dumb and loves everyone, especially children, While, as I say, I am concerned he gets killed on the highway, I cannot hold the driver responsible for the act of the dog or my failure to keep the dog in a safe location. I will agree that drivers on secondary roads should be extra careful as not only animals might be in the road childern might also be playing in or near the roads. It is always sad to lose a pet that way. At the time we lived down in Long Island my wife had a little peek a poo that was standing at the mouth of our driveway and a person steered thier vehicle into the drive and hit the dog on purpose. Something like that is unexcusable.
January 08, 2013 07:54:35 what?   How is Sidney doing now academically? Just a year ago Sidney school was academically ranked 43 from the BOTTOM of 431 schools. And Sidney middle school was added to the persistently dangerous schools list. No other local schools are on that list. Does Sidney really need to be worrying about artificial turf, that will need to be replaced after about ten years at a significant cost to the taxpayer (maybe they will use more 'free' money!).
January 08, 2013 07:39:50 what?   Sidney Central School Superintendent William Christensen said that our taxes will not go up, we will be using 'free' money. But if you read the Sidney minutes;"$2,550,000 million of such sum shall be raised by a tax levy" according to the Sidney minutes. The $4.2 million dollar project comes from tax money, $2,550,000 million coming from Sidney taxpayers and the rest covered by everyone else,(and us, we pay state and federal taxes too) !
January 08, 2013 07:32:21 what?   The country is BROKE, the state is BROKE, the town and school WILL be BROKE when state aid is drastically cut, and area school tax base is significantly lower (jobs have been and are still moving out of the area, vacant homes means NO tax money coming in!). Over $40 MILLION has been spent on this school for 'improvements' since the football field was built. How many more millions must we spend of hard working taxpayer money before the field is deemed 'safe'? Since when was the field named unsafe, how many years has it been? Only since some taxpayer money has been made available?
January 08, 2013 07:22:26 what?   So bertimouse is not a Masonville resident?
January 08, 2013 05:52:23 me   It is time to vote for the project the children need the field to use even known that only 20% of the students play sports I am voting for it unless some one can convince my otherwise.
January 08, 2013 05:47:22 FYI...Today Captial Project SCS Meeting 6pm   SIDNEY CENTRAL SCHOOL will hold a CAPITAL PROJECT PRESENTATION, OPEN TO THE PUBLIC on TUES., JAN. 8TH in the HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM at 6:00 PM. January 08, 2013 01:20:23 Checkmate   Where Mike Finch lives at the Sidney end of Poplar Hill is in the Town of Sidney. Turn by the Town of Sidney Highway Shed onto Poplar Hill.
January 07, 2013 23:59:52 what?   Masonville town law says; "a dog must be in a kennel or other suitable enclosure or securely fastened on a chain, wire, leash, or other effective tether of such length and so arranged that the animal is controlled and restrained or if the animal is being transported by the owner, that it is securely confined in a crate oe other container, or so restrained in a vehicle that it cannot be escape therefrom." WoW read the 'official' town site laws, many misspelled words,I corrected some in this law, someone that knows how to spell should look into this! Hey! is Poplar Hill Rd even in Masonville, I don't believe it is even close, but I could be wrong??
January 07, 2013 20:20:11 longtime resident   Does anyone monitor the comments on this site? It sickens me to read the below death threat!!! Maybe someone should contact the police so they can let Mr. Finch know so he and his wife can be prepared if someone attempts to harm them in some way...i was a long time resident of Masonville and it upsets me to see such things
January 07, 2013 17:56:10 what?   Sorry for your loss Berti, but your lucky the dog didn't cause a accident or damage the vehicle, you would have been held liable. I went into my garage late one night in the dark and had the cra p scared out of me. My neighbors big dog had snuck in through a open door. While the dog was clearly trespassing on private property I didn't shoot him, I told him to go home, and he did.
January 07, 2013 17:31:13 citizen   Dogs aren't meant to be in the road....no matter how fast someone is driving or what they are doing a small dog running out in front of a moving vehicle should never happen....BE RESPONSIBLE TIE UP YOUR ANIMALS...IF YOU CAN'T TIE THEM UP THEN MAYBE YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! also is this sight really meant as a place to talk bad about people...if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all!!
January 07, 2013 16:36:48 Observer   No one is fighting. Just that threatening to shoot someone's dog because it wanders onto one's 50 acres is somewhat amusing and ignorant on top of amusing. If the BS spread in Delaware county were plowed under the county should be the richest farmland in the world. LOL
January 07, 2013 16:29:19 Old Fa rt   Oh my god now we are fighting over a dead dog? It shows some here dont have to do all day
January 07, 2013 16:05:28 Observer   Just wait'll I git this yer chaw of terbacce inna my mouth end i'll tell ya about a feller who shot hisn nebers dog fer know resen. Fond hisself settin his a ss in jail.
January 07, 2013 12:58:36 JJK   once I shot a dog which belongs to my neighbor , after serveral warnings he got my drift. any dogs I see on my 50 ac.property will be shot. no questions asked.
January 07, 2013 09:44:51 curious   Why wasn't a four month old pup confined away from the road until he could be trained not to go in the road? I would say it is as much the fault of the owner as it is the driver. No one like to lose a dog to a vehicle and most drivers do not like to hit a dog or cat but a four month old pup, like a child, must be trained to avoid dangerous places such as highways.
January 07, 2013 02:24:57 bertimouse   Our Pup was Killed at 1230 on 1230 by our Idiot neighbor by the last name of Finch. Since hes lived there he & his wife have always drived too fast! What the F! So what this AHOLE did was - He RAN OVER A PUPPY,DRAGGED AND KILLED HIM: OUR 4 MONTH OLD AKC Golden Retriever Puppy.

January 06, 2013 10:31:29 whatever   resident do you know if the highway crew will be out plowing this week as it is getting warmer the roads a slushie and is becoming tough to control the vechile. Can you let us know.
January 05, 2013 08:29:06 what?   I thought of that, maybe he accidentally posted his email, some sites require a email address to post comments, but they don't post the email address. Good luck robbing someone in Masonville, 99.9% of the town has the firepower to defend themselves. Most of us love to hunt and kill animals and eat them, and would defend our property, family if need be.
January 05, 2013 07:25:05 who   did any of you stop to think that this guy might be a thief.
January 04, 2013 23:05:50 what?   WOW, MV Redneck, where was the "How do you know the toothbrush was invented in Masonville,,, well, otherwise it would be a teethbrush!" Actually Masonville is full of many different people with many different backgrounds, and ethnicity, some local some not, a real American melting pot. And most of us have all our teeth, and the means to protect ourselves. There might be some jobs available in the surrounding area, or possibly with troop c state police dep. Actually if you are retired you might want to look into a job with the DEP that \'patrols\' and \'protects\' the NYC watershed reservoirs in the area. I don\'t think they ever break a sweat. I usually see them getting more coffee.
January 04, 2013 21:54:58 MV Redneck   Masonville , NY where you got more Deers,Bears, Turkeys ,and Cows in Town then people ... the MV People are kind of animals too. tooth less, fat , ugly mO FOs , red neck stlyes .. 99 % MS Residents has a Fire Arm and they know how to use it , better then know how to wipe the *CENSORED* clean.... So why does MV need a Police man ???
