April 03, 2015 13:51:09 Pine Hill Resident   Frankly, I don't care what we call him. If he violated the law, then he is not fit to be enforcing the law.
April 02, 2015 11:20:33 EX Observer   I would be very very careful of marking anyone as a felon on a public message board. As I recall DEC law violations are civil charges NOT criminal unless one is convicted/pleads to multiple charges. "All felonies are categorized as being a crime of “high seriousness” and our legal code describes felonies as crimes “punishable by death or imprisonment in excess of a year”. A felony conviction results in the following: "•You may no longer vote (this is called “felony disenfranchisement”) •Exclusion of future purchase of firearms •You may no longer sit on a jury •You are excluded from welfare •You are barred from Federally funded housing •You are excluded from some operator licenses In other words, depending a felony class, one's future is doomed. DEC violations just do not raise up to that level. I am not saying this person was right in doing what he did but as I said I would be very careful of referring to this person as a felon unless you know more than you are saying.
March 31, 2015 19:47:16 what?   I'm not driving to Sidney and prying into someone else's business just to satisfy my curiosity. Sounds like he might have got caught doing what half of the hunters in Masonville do, guess he's getting old and slow. Yeah I agree if he did do it he shouldn't be enforcing laws if he cant abide by laws. But of course we have many still in Govt. that have done worse. Heck, Obama was praising the late Ted Kennedy today, Kennedy who killed a woman he was with at a party (he was married) when he was drunk and didn't tell anyone for nine hours after he wrecked and drowned her. Kennedy had a very successful political career afterwards and is still loved and looked up to by the Democrat party.
March 31, 2015 08:23:47 Resident   What! did you get the information that you were seeking. The code enforcement officer if found guilty of any of these charges should be released from his employment for the taxpayers of Masonville.
March 26, 2015 02:43:39 Taxpayer   I was in Sidney court, You can get the information there it is public information
March 25, 2015 09:42:04 what?   taxpayer. Tell us more, I can't find any info anywhere. I Googled everywhere. No mention of him being arrested or convicted of anything.
March 23, 2015 15:49:38 also a taxpayer   taxpayer, good question for town board in April.
March 23, 2015 10:16:26 taxpayer.   Concerned who will enforce these laws. Our code enforcement officer is now convicted of violating DEC Laws during hunting season. Can he still hold this position is he a convicted felon. He did have a loaded weapon in a vehicle he did kill a animal out of his vehicle. Should he still be working for the taxpayers of Masonville. Do the taxpayers want a man enforcing laws when he does not abide by these laws. Is he above the law?
March 19, 2015 13:20:02 concerned   when is the towns website going to be brought up to date? we need to know what laws, etc ,apply to local residents
March 19, 2015 07:31:26 one who tries   Our town can not keep doing all of thesse good services for the people and keep our taxes down. We may need to take on some of these responsibilities ourselves. If you take pride in this town please keep your property clean of trash and be proud of it.
March 18, 2015 13:43:46 local resident   Yea what a sham this community could really use clean up days. I remember that man that owns the junk yard on Steam mill road dumping over 100 tires down at the clean up days. I also remember Jeri stating that the people should bring their scrap to the land fill. Well that did not happen just watch when the snow melts it will look like the slums fro Istanbul.
March 17, 2015 14:26:37 EX observer   Don't think there will be clean up day this year. They did not hold it last year due to abuse by the users etc.
March 17, 2015 09:08:21 resident.   does anyone know when clean up days are this year?
March 15, 2015 20:55:13 EX Observer   Gerrymandering voting districts goes on all the time but, seceding a county or municipality from a state? I don't think so. It would take a vote of the people in the state of NY and the state of PA and a bill by the federal congress to change a state line. Other than West Virginia splitting from Virginia during the Civil War I do not think any state has split by vote of its citizens much less a small portion of a state joining a bordering state. Why would you think PA is any better than NY? Because they allow fracking? I have relatives who live in PA and they have the same complaints about state government that we have. The grass in rarely ever greener on the other side of the fence.
March 15, 2015 14:02:01 long time resident.   Com on what you copied that from the news paper. The scuttle but around town is that we will secede and I hope we do Pa. has the best environmental laws. I would like to see all these so called grandfathered junkyards / dumps cleaned up around town . And to think Pa is pro workforce unlike masonville witch is pro social services.
March 10, 2015 16:48:32 us   It may take until May for all of the snow to melt, but it does seem like spring is on it's way. Hope all are enjoying this "warm" weather.
March 05, 2015 00:46:52 what?   "What! that is incorrect our supervisor and board want to secede."local Local its 15 towns, not just Masonville. “It’s basically a way of saying: We’re still here but we’ve had enough of this *CENSORED*,” Masonville Town Supervisor Mike Spaccaforno “Let’s face it,” said Spaccaforno “The state has been running over us for the longest time. We’re losing our youth to other places. Nobody wants to be here.”A pro-secession town official from Broome County, Conklin Supervisor James Finch, conceded the call to break away from New York is far-fetched. But he said it sends a message to Albany that there is great dissatisfaction in his region to the direction of the state.Finch acknowledged that to be successful the succession push would need the approval of the state governments of New York and Pennsylvania as well as the federal government. “But maybe it will light a fire,” he added
March 04, 2015 08:00:54 local   What! that is incorrect our supervisor and board want to secede.
March 03, 2015 11:52:44 what?   It's just to send a message to the deaf ears in Albany. I don't think they actually want to secede. I think the better thing to do is for NY State and NYC to be separated. It's BS that NY State has to live with NYC voters idiocy. Almost every single county upstate voted against Cuomo, it would have been a landslide against Cuomo, but the voters in NYC out number us. They don't live here, it's BS.
March 03, 2015 09:41:39 EX Observer   Will be joining PA? Really? When was there a vote by the citizens to secede? When did NYS legislature approve it? When did PA approve such a move? And, I believe restructuring any state borders would probably take an act by Congress. So I would not look to being a stump jumper anytime soon. LOL
March 03, 2015 07:50:59 resident   I read in the new York post yesterday that Masonville will be joining Pennsylvania as a community I could not be happier to hear this. What a great move there will be more job opportunities less public assistance less GUN LAWS will be treated as a American, WOW nice job Masonville town board now you are looking out for your people.
March 02, 2015 16:06:24 what?   Congratulations to Austin Dean on his State Championship wrestling title!!!
March 01, 2015 16:55:21 snowman   March 1 and snow that means we are headed "out like a lamb " if so it probably will not happen for 3 more weeks, but yes, spring is comming .
March 01, 2015 14:44:27 Old Fa rt   more white *CENSORED* coming down !!!
Febuary 28, 2015 07:37:12 Scared   Raisinable My concern is what will happen to my social service payment electric and food stamps, Also my benefit and health card. Should I move to Sidney or Walton or will Pennsylvania Make me reapply. I don't know what to do.
Febuary 26, 2015 09:47:05 Raisinable   Maybe Masonville's supervisor should just move to PA. I hear there's money everywhere there. The streets are paved with gold and you can even eat all you want without getting fat!
Febuary 26, 2015 07:58:52 what?   I was proud to be from Masonville when I read that in the newspaper, we have a Supervisor with GUTS! Way to go! I doubt the Idiot in Albany will listen though.
Febuary 23, 2015 16:13:26 EX Observer   Secede to PA? Nah, he is wrong. We secede from the United States. Set up our own country and then sneak across the border so we can collect federal benefits!
Febuary 23, 2015 14:05:38 Long time local resident.   It was great to see that our town supervisor has taken the lead an will push for Masonville to secession to Pa. Wow way to go Mike.
Febuary 22, 2015 15:56:53 snowman   wow what a nice day !!! More to come, cold days, that is the best the weather man can do.
Febuary 18, 2015 21:00:27 cold in Masonville   Is everyone ready for the next blast of cold, be careful with those wood stoves !!
Febuary 16, 2015 13:10:13 EX Observer   Did ya notice when 3 moslims get killed here in this country the outcry is deafening. Cries for hate crime investigation etc. But it is fine for the same bunch to hack off the heads of Americans, Brits. etc and now 21 Christians in Egypt. We are supposed to "understand" them and embrace their "peaceful" "religion". I say round em up and ship them to one of the "peaceful" Arab countries.
Febuary 16, 2015 11:42:19 what?   "Free Snow! Bring your shovels and take all you want!"
Febuary 14, 2015 04:41:04 what?   Aw, come on Denis, the penalty is not set in stone. It goes UP every year. Obama said "It's not a tax!" Supreme Court ruled the only way Obamacare could be Constitutional is if it were a tax. Obama argued "It's not a tax" ?? The big question is has former Speaker of the House Democrat Nancy Pelosi read the Obamacare bill she was talking everyone into voting for. Has she read the bill she voted for yet? “we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy.”
Febuary 13, 2015 16:28:16 snowman   nice to see the highway crew have kept our roads in good condition with the snow we have had. Keep warm the next few days, it will be bitter cold.
Febuary 10, 2015 05:28:57 Denis   Here is the new American way/ Communism. Our president created Obama care to make sure that the world is covered in health care. He sent his new police the IRS to fine and penalize you ( actually go into your bank account and take your money)with fines and penalties if you do not have insurance. Now under Andy Cuomo's new budget he will add new taxes to your health care premium. Now let's make sure I said this right Obama and lame duck Congress create a law that you will have health care now Cuomo will put a tax on this. My Question. Is this a form of extortion. Start at the town level call all your board members. then call all the county Supervisors. then the state assembly members and the senate we cannot afford another senseless tax increase that will only help illegal immigrants, criminal's, heroin addicts, and lazy people who do not want to work. The middle class working man is getting screwed again and our local board members and state politicians do not care.
Febuary 09, 2015 02:37:12 resident   Well put , Where are your children now. how many hours away from Masonville do they live. How often do you get to hug them?
Febuary 08, 2015 11:57:06 snowman   ex observer HOW true everything is you have said !!!!
Febuary 07, 2015 10:50:55 EX Observer   Resident - While I did not grow up in Masonville; I did grow up in a very rural area just a few miles from Masonville. I always figured we had the best of everything. The hills, the streams the meadows and pastures were ours for wandering, playing and exploring. We did not need electronic games, TV etc to keep us entertained. This time of year we found hills to sled on, ponds to skate on, things to explore. In the summer there was always a ball game or hide and seek with the neighbor kids. Except for chores on the farm and garden we were outside from sunup till mom called us in. We learned what a great spot God had put us in. I wonder, today, how many kids witness the waking of the earth in the springtime? See suckers and lamprey eels in the creeks traveling to spawn? See baby woodchucks etc make their first venture into the sunlight of spring. How many kids today have had the pleasure of going "up the hill" to drive in the cows for milking? How many kids have had the pleasure of riding the "hay rick" to put in loose hay? How many kids today have had the pleasure of raising a calf of their own? I think Masonville is a pretty good place to raise kids. Mine are long gone and raising their own but I would have been happy to raise my kids here. We do not have to do anything except raise them in a moral way and instill a love of God and nature in them. They will do the rest.
Febuary 07, 2015 03:40:57 resident.   taxpayer so true. But we cannot live in a fantasy world. Please tell me what have we done as a community to make masonville such a great place for our children,
Febuary 06, 2015 18:51:30 tax payer   resident, seems like you are determined not to take Masonville resident's advice and live a happy life and not find fault with anyone. It really is a lot easier to not find fault with people and try to see the good in things.
Febuary 06, 2015 04:23:13 resident   taxpayer and Masonville resident. Don't get out much it really is not all what you say it is.look around we have failed our children as a community.
Febuary 03, 2015 18:22:35 tax payer   Masonville resident, you are right we do live in a nice community. It is nice to see that neighbors help each other, esp. during this last snow storm.
January 30, 2015 18:58:58 Masonville resident   Everyone should just be happy to live in such a quiet town compared to many in NYS. All look out for each other and are willing to help in case of emergency, our firefighters and EMS, what would we do without them? Why not start the year out right and see the good in everyone and everything.
January 29, 2015 12:11:41 what?   EX Observer, one of the reasons we keep ending up with bad people in Govt. is I know many voters vote for what they feel is the least of the two evils. "this ones not as bad as the other one." for their own reasons that may be debatable by the ones who are voting for the other candidate they feel are 'the lesser of the two evils.' Your right about the money, Obama spent over a half a Billion dollars more than McCain in '08 to win. Leaves the normal every day honest folks out of the running. Gas prices? Can be summed up just by the fact that a gas station can be across the street from another and charging 10cents more a gallon, and you will still see people pumping gas there. I see people putting gas in their tanks everyday in Masonville, and you know they are not confined to our small town, they drive by pumps in other towns everyday. Gas tanks are not limited to what one can hold before they go to work or shopping. You can't blame Mirabito's for accepting what people are obviously more than willing to pay.
January 28, 2015 18:16:03 EX Observer   RE: Highest gas prices in the county. The Post Office has nothing to do with the prices at the convenience store. You can blame that on one of the areas premier families. The Post Office nor the US government has nothing to do with the building it is in other than leasing the space.
January 28, 2015 17:57:39 EX Observer   When are the voters of this state going to realize that it is time to clean out the nest of rats running the state of New York? I doubt there are 10 honest politicians in the entire assembly or senate. And the chief being the mobster in the Governor's office. A politician of many years ago by the name of Dickenson (a senator from PA) was asked what sort of politician he was. And he replied, " The best money can buy." This accurately describes the vast majority of crooks representing us in Albany. I believe this quote, in one form or another, was also used by Will Rogers and Harry Truman. We continue to elect them and complain about them. Albany has been a nest of vipers that would put Tammany Hall to shame. Speaker Silver has been the subject of one crooked deal or another since he took office some 15 or 20 years ago. Come one folks it is time to do some house cleaning in any way we can.
January 25, 2015 07:14:29 Parker Hollow road   Well local it is clear that the Historian does not use the office. What a waste of money. The Town Clerk doesn't even have hours at the building. It's time to get out and get some candidates to run for town board. Masonville needs to get out of this stagnet place that the locals on the board what it to stay at. It' like driving through the twilight zone in this town the same mentality as the 70's nothing has changed more welfare in the community. Our post office is leaving gas prices in town highest in the country and our board complains about un funded mandates. I willing to bet that our board has no idea how much the local taxpayers spend in unfunded mandates. But they are fast to use it as a excuse to blame for our tax increase's. Let's get some candidates who are open minded self starting and driven to find out what is really needed for all the taxpayers in Masonville. Let's get rid of the historian office that is a unfunded mandate that we can do with out.
December 28, 2014 07:15:47 local   jerry you do not have office hours at theew town hall and new historian office?
December 26, 2014 19:04:58 cabin fever   How can you not ask for a raise, otherwise you fall backwards with inflation.
December 24, 2014 16:37:20 what?   How high is taxes going to go after the minimum wage increase. Unions and Democrats are pushing for fast food workers and walmart to pay $15hr. I bet the TOM workers will be asking for a raise, I know everyone I work with will. Zero net gain.
December 23, 2014 19:52:25 Jeri Brayman Mormon Hollow Farm   265-3769 town historian
December 23, 2014 14:16:47 EX Observer   I too do not care for a raise in the taxes but I realize that in order to maintain the level of services that realistically there must be an adjustment to the tax base. Everything costs more than it did last season.
December 23, 2014 05:08:08 XXXXX   Ex -Observer does all that change the fact that your taxes have been increased by our town board again. Ba Fu---n humbug
December 22, 2014 17:47:08 EX Observer   To Democrat's, Liberals & Progressives Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2015, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere. Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the recipient. To Everyone else. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year of our Lord.
December 18, 2014 13:56:22 local   If correct Jerry should have hours at the town hall on route 206. Phone number is 607-265-9249
December 17, 2014 16:43:08 EX Observer   Jeri Brayman is the town historian.
December 17, 2014 14:58:15 Warren Brooks wbclomocm@gmail.com I am a family historian/genealogist and would like to get in touch with your town historian. My ancestors lived in Masonville in the early 1800\'s. I\'m hopeful of getting in touch with someone who may be able to give me help with searching some of my family history
December 15, 2014 20:24:09 someone   the highway crew probably did know that people need to get to work, after all no one plowed for them to get to work so they could clear roads for you to go to work. Think about it, they too have kids and they too work.
December 09, 2014 05:25:31 long time local   I can't wait to see if our great highway dept can stay on top of the storm. I also hope that they remember that if there is no school the people who pay their salaries ie the taxpayers need to get to work and home again. Let's see what you got boy's.
December 08, 2014 15:37:53 what?   I think everybody is waiting for word on un'Safe Act' part two.I haven't heard anything either. You can read about the proposed laws on SCOPENY.ORG I haven't updated myself in a while but I know some of the laws were just plan dumb. I know one of them was if you own a gun it must be locked up if your not in immediate possession of it. And mandatory insurance for gun owners, I pay enough for insurances already. SCOPE has a State Police field guide to 'Safe Act'. There is more to it than I knew.
December 08, 2014 05:50:13 Wow   What have you heard anything else from our representatives on how they are coming along with the safe act. I have been following the process and as I stated nobody has dne nothing since the elections. Do you have any info
December 04, 2014 12:08:10 Wow   What! if correct this all happened pre election ?
December 03, 2014 18:05:31 what?   What more can they do when we are outvoted by low information voters who care nothing about the Constitution and our freedoms? They vote for whoever has the most money for negative campaigning.
December 03, 2014 18:00:55 what?   WOW, look it up, our town board publicly spoke in opposition to the safe act in the minutes some time ago. Its been in the newspapers since the passage of the bill. Some clips; Delaware County Sheriff Thomas E. Mills along with Undersheriff Craig DuMond are asking for the Delaware County Board of Supervisors to support them as well as the NYS Sheriffs’ Association in opposition to Governor Cuomo’s NY SAFE Act.Seward also spoke about a bill before the state senate to repeal “Cuomo’s ill-conceived gun control” law while keeping intact the provision in law which mandates life without parole for anyone who murders an emergency responder. Seward warned, however, that “a repeal is a long process and will take years.” “The NY unSAFE Act does nothing to solve the problem of violence,” Seward added. “It is only onerous restrictions placed on our law-abiding citizens who rightfully own firearms. As a legislator, I’d rather write laws that come down tougher on violent criminals and that treat the mental health problems.” Delaware County Sheriff Tom Mills concurred, noting that “The unSAFE Act does not address the bad people who use guns for violence. … We need meaningful answers. We need to vote for and elect officials who work to change the mental health issues our country is dealing with now.” NYR Coordinator Gia Arnold prompted the audience to take action. “No more sitting in our comfortable houses,” said Arnold. “We can talk to our neighbors and campaign.” Congressman Chris Gibson, R-Kinderhook, reminded the audience that “The Founding Fathers brought forth the Constitution and the document has withstood the test of time. We will fight to be governed by the Constitution, not the state. A limited but effective government is what we stand for.” Referring to a recent public comment by Cuomo that conservatives could leave New York if they didn’t like it, Gibson said, “We are not leaving New York. We will vote and we will vote for the rights of everyone.” “I’m disgusted that our rights have been stripped away,” Delaware County Undersheriff Craig DuMond said angrily. “Law enforcement is designed to uphold the constitution.” Assemblyman Pete Lopez, R-Schoharie, told the audience that, “We are at ground zero. … It is time we rouse from our apathy and focus our energy,” adding, “This is our America and we will take it back.”
December 03, 2014 16:52:54 Wow   Thank you
December 03, 2014 12:40:20 what?   They've done more than you or I have.
December 03, 2014 03:19:14 Wow   Re-phrase What! have they done to help insure that we will get our rights back (SAFE ACT)in accordance with the constitution.
December 01, 2014 12:48:22 EX Observer   I see the "so-called" protests are still going in the St. Louis area. Must be they have not gotten all their Christmas looting finished.
December 01, 2014 12:36:26 what?   The Constitution.
December 01, 2014 09:22:07 Wow   What! does that have to do with the safe act.
December 01, 2014 08:20:59 what?   They shouldn't have to 'go after' the Governor. The same with the house and senate, they shouldn't have to 'go after Obama'. If those two idiots followed the Constitution, instead of treating it like toilet paper we could get something constructive done in this country. Right now the USA has the lowest labor participation rate in 35+ yrs. And NY is not a good place to live or do business.
November 30, 2014 05:58:07 American   What! are you talking about the safe act. Besides using it as a topic of discussion for their elections along with Gibson and others, They have not accomplished much and they likely will not. It is apparent that they are not committed enough to go after the Governor.
November 27, 2014 00:05:18 what?   Thanks Craig, thank you for all you've done for TOM (thanks also Mike), and thanks for all you've done for NY state with your stand on the un'Safe Act' Your a good American. And thanks to all and every good American(and those who legally want to become Americans) Happy Thanksgiving!
November 26, 2014 23:55:21 what?   C J C, there are plenty of people that do this, plowing. But if you don't find any George walker in masonville from walker concrete plows. I don't know him personally just know he plows and has a phone number in the book. Good luck with the hunting! I haven't seen anything shootable yet, except for a bear that only gave me two seconds, his lucky day.
November 26, 2014 22:05:18 Craig DuMond   Happy Thanksgiving Masonville...I wish all a blessed day!!!
November 26, 2014 19:07:11 C J C   I need plowing service.. In Masonville ... Can some one froward me to a guy who does this kind of services.... I would like to enjoy the rest of the hunting season. Thanks.
November 22, 2014 10:47:34 Old Fa rt   Where have all the deers gone ?
November 21, 2014 13:19:16 Local taxpayer   Don't stress about spilled salt What. They will just increase your taxes again.
November 20, 2014 09:20:48 what?   !!! Just read in Mich. there is a 46% increase in price of road salt this year! I hope TOM has what they need!!! And the state/ county.
November 15, 2014 20:37:56 Olg Fa rt   not many hunters/shots in woods today
November 13, 2014 09:34:49 life time resident   kunfused - please speak for yourself. Not everyone hates Chuck. Thanks Craig for last post, it is nice to hear that someone on the board is behind Chuck. Keep up the great work Chuck and thank you for helping save the me and the taxpayers money!
November 13, 2014 07:48:29 Craig DuMond   In my opinion Chuck has done an outstanding job as superintendent. He is a full-time superintendent, which is virtually unheard of in our area, and works right along with then men all day long. As highway committee chairman, I can also attest that Chuck works more than 40 hrs per week most weeks and receives NO overtime. I have received many calls from Chuck nights and weekends where he is in the shop completing required paperwork or diligently searching for the best price on a required product. He always goes the extra mile to get the best price with the taxpayer's interest in mind. His leadership with the crew in completing in-house maintenance of our equipment, providing in-kind services for the town hall, building our pole barn, etc. has saved the town hundreds of thouands of dollars. Selling equipment we no longer need, creating a revenue stream to drive his budget down, etc are all things we as taxpayers should be appreciative of. Instead of berating this public servant (again, with qualities rarely seen today in the public sector) we should be shaking his hand in gratitude!!!
November 12, 2014 22:28:47 kunfused   One good point made by our Town Supervisor at the meeting was the original tax increase was to be close to 13% but the Hwy. Supt. was to sell trucks to drop it to 5%. So the Hwy. Supt. saves us a huge tax increase and everyone on this board hates him and the crew, I'm Kunfused!!! "Time for a change"....really??????
November 11, 2014 22:41:54 cabin fever   Sounds like you went to the meeting??? I heard a similar version of the comment of what the shop time was, the board member was asleep during the report I hear. Word got back to the crew and they are so thankful that he sees what is done to save tax dollars, LOL! How would it look if our town trucks went out for simple repairs and get prepared for winter when it can be done in house. We need board members who will work with the crew, not against them. I heard "that" board member wants to be the next hwy. supt. and then things will be just perfect. I take things the way they are now before the "change" and taxes skyrocket by hiring everything out. We will see what is in the minutes when they are out to see what was missed
November 10, 2014 11:48:19 resident   Cabin fever I would agree to cut services we do not get much or expect much from this crew. WE CANNOT AFFORD A INCREASE IN TAXES AT THE TOWN AND COUNTY LEVEL. The stewards of the taxpayer money(ie. elected Officials) have failed us. We need Elected people to do the job and not at the very least go over the 2% increase allowed by law. And also kudos to the board member that asked what the highway crew does in the shop all day.
November 08, 2014 01:21:05 what?   "chaws tabbaca and uses words of only one syllable?" Ha,Ha EX Observer, I've heard many truck drivers claim they must have invented the tooth brush in Brookfield, otherwise they would have called it a teeth brush!
November 07, 2014 18:13:04 EX Observer   P.S. Who is not a local running the town? I have often wondered what the definition of a local is anyway. Is it someone with only few teeth, body odor and a 3rd grade education, chaws tabbaca and uses words of only one syllable?
November 07, 2014 18:07:43 EX Observer   "rather see them lay off some" ?? If the town laid off "some" who would be left? Everyone complains about wages of town workers. I have an idea. Those who are complaining about them being overpaid can volunteer to have their own wages cut 10% and we can give that to the workers instead of a raise. That way, no tax raise for the rest of us!! Do you honestly feel that town workers should only get minimum wage?
November 07, 2014 14:26:53 cabin fever   Must be you don't live on a TOWN owned road, you say lay off personal so I would have to guess you live on a State or County road. Mandates are a true story, if this is a problem then go to the State level to complain. Think about the next mandate we all will pay for, it is minimum wage increases. Great for those workers but we all will pay for higher cost of services and goods because of this. The working class that is not minimum wage will not get a 10% increase so will fall behind in inflation level. The highway crew, under contract, will see 3%. Simple math will show you this debit ratio will be less cash in the wallet. Would you like a pay cut? Lets not nickel and dime our town services as we wouldn't want this ourselves. Do we want minimum wage guys plowing our roads? Wouldn't find a CDL driver for under $20.00 per hour anyway. Lets give up wage talk, its not the solution anyway.
November 07, 2014 13:57:44 long time Local Resident.   Cabin fever blaming mandates every year is getting old. I would rather they laid some off. I cannot afford another tax increase. Be nice to have some locals running the town.
November 07, 2014 13:13:49 cabin fever   Town raises didn't mater this year for the cap. If pay raises were froze this time all the other mandated items drove taxes above the cap anyway. I need to get my job back in LI and live the good life.
November 07, 2014 06:56:41 what?   Minimum wage earners will, $1.75hr by next year, and they are pushing for another $6.00hr more.
November 07, 2014 04:59:33 Long time resident.   How nice was it we are getting another tax increase more than likely over the 2% cap same at the county level, Did anyone get a pay raise this year.
