July 09, 2010 15:12:35 George Denys To "Board Supporter" Thank you. Everyone on the board tries so hard to do the right thing for our town. We pay taxes too! People should also know that Chuck Smith and all the Highway employees have saved this town a huge amount of money. They do things for us that they don't have to but do anyway because they can and its for the betterment of our town. I am honored to work with them.
July 04, 2010 22:40:38 RangerDanger.   From the message I posted it seems as if the people who hit him didn't stop, but they did. Sorry for any confusion. My mind still isn't processing information right.
July 04, 2010 22:38:02 RangerDanger.   Watched a dog get hit in the road tonight @ 10:15. It was on route 8 by the horse farm, a fuzzy dog with pointy ears. No idea as to the color. It was the most horrible sight and sound I have ever heard, absolutely heartbreaking. The bastards didn\'t even slow down. He was just sitting there in the road, wagging his tail at the car. I saw it clearly in their headlights. Any news as to the outcome would be appreciated, and if anyone sees this in the area and knows the owner please let them know. I am not sure if the people who hit the dog contacted anyone, although an older woman in a minivan turned around at the quickway to go back to help. I would have stopped, but I was too angry at the people who hit the dog to have an intelligent conversation with anyone so I decided it was best to drive on home as well. =(
July 01, 2010 02:18:03 Tony CR-20   Wishing everyone in Masonville a Happy & Safe 4th of July! God Bless the United States of America!
June 17, 2010 10:03:07 Observer   Would anyone know if there is a Hannah Sackett buried in either of the Old cemeteries here in Masonville?
June 11, 2010 03:44:21 CrzyFlea   RangerDanger - there are stop signs on all 4 sides of the intersection. I\'m not sure however if there are \'warning, stop ahead\' signs as well further back though if I\'m not mistaken there is at least one on the South 8 side.
June 10, 2010 21:04:07 RangerDanger.   A normal traffic light would be just as confusing, if not more confusing. Since there is only one lane on each side it would have to be like the one in Sidney by the library, where both sides are turning/going strait at once. Those lights almost always seem to cause trouble, and DEFINITELY confusion because you don't always know if the other side is red or green, but yours is green. I support the light we have now, but I believe full stop signs (do we have those? I can't remember?) and an increased police presence would be acceptable. I always stop and make sure no one is flying down the hill before I go through the light, I was almost hit there last year.
June 09, 2010 11:02:49 Observer   4-Way stop intersections by nature are dangerous and unpredictable. How many times have you seen people stopped at the light wondering who goes first and what to do? As to people going through the light without stopping. There is no excuse for that as traffic control devices are pretty uniform throughout the U.S. A flashing red light means stop, check traffic and then procede. Inattention, don't care attitude contributes to the problem of course. Will placing a camera at the intersection stop the problem? No, probably not as the only ones who would be aware of the camera would be locals probably; and I think most locals stop at the light. What would help the problem? The thing that should have been done to begin with. A full traffic control device. A full control device would be a big improvment over just the flashing red light. If one is just thinking of revenue for the coffers of the town and state then the flashing lights, enforced, would be the answer. If one is concerned with safety the a full control device is the answer. The entire traffic control system in Masonville is confusing to begin with. A small hamlet with four posted speed limits plus a four way stop intersection (55,45,30,40) is confusing to anyone traveling through the area. The secret to any well controlled system is the the K-I-S-S system.
June 08, 2010 19:59:19 CrzyFlea   No problem at all for me to see a camera or more police presence at that intersection. In fact, I've thought for years that it would be a good thing. Oddly enough, over the years that I lived in town I noticed an alarming trend. Drivers seemed to stop -better- at the intersection when the light has not been working. Why, one wonders. My own suspicion is not that drivers are more cautious because the light is out, but merely morbid curiosity regarding why it is out. Stopping allows a bit of neck craning to see how far one can see in any direction (which they should be checking anyway) just to see if they can spot the cause of the outage.
June 08, 2010 17:21:21 Grumpy Ernst Keidel I've got no problem with a camera and/or cop at this intersection. I ALWAYS stop.
June 08, 2010 13:55:05 Brad Gregory   I have to finally post a comment about this. This morning as I was heading off to work another car northbound on Rt 8 went through the light without stopping. I see this all the time. I see it from all directions, 206 and 8. Most of the time it is a vehicle going north on Rt 8. It has to be a matter of time until someone is killed or a horrible collision (it won't be an accident, it's totally preventable) occurs. I would love to let me kids go to the Masonville General Store. But, I am afraid of them crossing the road. I would definitely support a traffic camera and or more police presence there. Heck there could be a sign saying there is a camera at the intersection. Let people know it is there. Anything it takes to get people to stop. Red means stop, the signs are huge. I don't get it. And a camera could generate some cash for the town. Doesn't bother me a bit. If you get caught oh well. Stop next time. I just don't want to see anyone and God help us if it is a child killed there because someone is careless. What does anyone else think?
June 08, 2010 11:33:18 Observer   Yes, I am sure (tongue-in-cheek) that someone who is closely connected to a large corporation will deliver the "facts". LOL
June 08, 2010 11:22:41 Kathy Klopchin Dr. Ingraffea will be at the Walton Theatre (not Afton) on Sunday at 1:30pm. He is Professor of Engineering at Cornell University. He has over 30 years experience in rock fracture mechanics, much of it focused on hydraulic fracturing in hydrocarbon wells. He has provided 15 years of rock fracture research & development for Schlumberger, the world’s leading oilfield services provider, has won numerous awards in the areas of rock mechanics & hydraulic fracture, and has written significant papers in the field. I'm sure his presentation will be FACT BASED, just what the BoS's are looking for. Plus, it's FREE.
June 08, 2010 11:14:54 Observer   Don't hear much around this area about the "gas boom". While I am sure there are some who stand to make a bunch of money from it; the most of us will just suffer the damage done by the profiteers. We can be sure those who stand to make money from the uncertain search for riches will not have much concern for the damage that will be done to the ecology or infrastructre of the area. But oh well, once again the middle class will pick up the tab.
June 08, 2010 09:45:40 Kendal   Great turnout for Gasland, EVERYBODY needs to see this documentary. If u missed, June 21st is the HBO premiere. This Sunday @ Afton theatre, 1:30pm: Dr Anthony Ingraffea will speak on The Marcellus Shale Play, Information for an Informed Citizenry. Asking the town board to please attend.
June 03, 2010 14:10:28 Kendal   I mis-spoke the time at the town board meeting, it is 6:30 Monday June 7th: GASLAND, winner of the Special Jury Prize for Documentary at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, will be screened at the Walton Theatre, Monday, June 7th, at 6:30 pm. Josh Fox, the director of the film, will be in attendance and available for discussion after the screening. Admission will be free. Donations to help cover the costs of the screening will be gratefully received. The sponsor-host of the Walton screening is Franklin Local, Ltd. The Walton Theatre is on Gardiner Place in Walton, NY.
May 29, 2010 11:46:02 Board Supporter   I have learned a lot from attending Town Board meetings and checking information afterward. Masonville has the smallest Town budget of all 19 Towns in Delaware County.Craig and the Board appear to do everything possible to keep taxes in Masonville this way. From not filling the highway position that the Mr. Smith left when he assumed the Highway Super job, to going out to bid for everything like insurance. This has saved the taxpayers thousands of $$$. As for Craig thinking he knows everything, I guess harley rick doesnt attend meetings. Craig got the Town a 25 thousand $$$ grant to create a town comprehensive plan that was entirely based on public input. He and the Board are using this plan to move the town forward. Craig has said many time he wants the public to be involved in government and always thanks people for turning out to meetings and voicing their opio=nions and concerns. As far as the roads go, I may be wrong but I dont think Craig and the board are responsible for roads...that is up to your elected highway super, which in my opinion, is doing a great job. The election? If you look at all the supervisor elections you will find the supervisor generally trails behind others. I guess this is because he is the one everyone holds ultimately cant please them all...goes with the territory. the highway super does make sure the mowing is done and Craig and the board have done a lot to make things look better, the flags and town signs just to name a couple. As Craig said in his post, you should really attend a meeting...i think he and the board are doing the best they can do with what they have to work with.
May 29, 2010 10:48:06 Grumpy Ernst Keidel Mr. Wilcox: May's Town Council Meeting minutes were sent to the webmaster, but one of the councilmen found a problem; so they were delayed. The problem has been resolved and I have given my webmaster the go-ahead. He'll get to it as soon as he has time.
May 27, 2010 11:09:32 S Fritz   Thanks for the info CrzyFlea.
May 27, 2010 08:39:01 NILES WILCOX newmaw2001@yahoo.comR3 Where's May's townmeeting minutes?
May 26, 2010 18:13:41 CrzyFlea   RE: Steven Fritz - The elementary school was closed, and then I believe bids for rental were taken. If I'm not mistaken currently it is use by Broome Developmental
May 26, 2010 18:12:21 CrzyFlea   Has anyone else heard the news about plans to build a mosque within 2 blocks of ground zero? I feel its an outrage and insult to those who lost family and friends in the tragedy. Before you ask how this hits close to home, bear in mind longtime residents Michael and Dorothy Esposito lost both a son and a nephew that day. To me, this makes the very notion not only an insult to the memory of those two brave young men but also to Michael and Dorothy and their family, as well as to all the communities that they were a part of. Is there anything that can be done to prevent this? I don't know but if someone has ideas, I'd love to hear them.
May 26, 2010 18:07:55 Steven Fritz Whatever happened to the elementary school? I remember it had a new addition but than was scheduled to close. I attended the school in the late sixties, early seventies, and have been back to masonville a few times over the years. Thanks Steven Fritz
May 23, 2010 22:00:36 Craig DuMond   Have all the answers? Certainly, I do not have all the answers. I try my hardest to solicit public input in every aspect of Town government. The more folks in the decision making process the better. This is a subject that is near and dear to my heart. So, please, if you have a suggestion or a better way of doing business please come to a Board meeting or call me and give your input.
May 23, 2010 08:41:15 Harley Rick   I am done with the high Town taxes that we continue to see year after year in Masonville. I am hoping that the community takes a good look at your Town taxes and asks why the local government can't reduce even more. Our Roads are crappy, the grass doesnt get cut when it should, and nobody in the Town government is doing anything to bring new businesses to masonville. I guess if the last election results that showed that over 25% of the ballots left a blank in regards to Craig Dumond running for election speaks a ton. I think Dennis Burpoe should run for Supervisor. Mr. Dumond is running this town into the ground with his - I have all the answers- mentality.
May 20, 2010 10:47:35 Joe I am looking for some info on the tax Grievance Day, I was told it was 5/25 but where and what do I need to bring, file, do etc. Thanks for any info
May 07, 2010 10:32:19 Observer   RangerDanger Thank you for your note. Yes, I am aware of the new regulations for Cannonsville but this old man is too old to haul a boat back and forth more than once a season. LOL That is why I want one to park there for the fishing season.
May 06, 2010 23:20:04 RangerDanger.   Observer, you don\'t have to get one just from the reservoir. They put in a new law regarding the reservoirs. You can take any boat on it now as long as it has been steam cleaned and is tagged. Or you can put a boat on it for the season and have it cleaned and tagged in Downsville for a long term tag. Here\'s a clip from an article on it. \"Two steps are required to access the Cannonsville. First the boater will need a DEP Access Permit, which you can get online at or at local sports stores. Second is the Recreational Boat Tag, which you get once your boat has been steam cleaned. All craft must be steam cleaned prior to being placed on the water and permits affixed to the boats. The Recreational Boat Tag will last from 1-7 days. Full season Boat Tags will be issued by the DEP\'s Downsville office and will permit owners to leave their boats locked up at launch areas.\"
May 06, 2010 17:58:38 Observer   If anyone is looking to sell a fishing boat on the Cannonsville Res. I am interested.
May 06, 2010 13:35:16 funsucker   Is anyone in need of a babysitter for the summer? I have a teenager who has had toddler and infant CPR looking for a job.
May 04, 2010 21:49:33 Craig DuMond   Dear wshbown, Your are very welcome and, please, call me Craig. The only Mr. DuMond I know is my Dad!
May 04, 2010 19:41:50 wshbown   thank you mr dumond
May 04, 2010 09:59:14 concerned   I was at the store in Masonville yesterday, and looking at the Fire house. The lawns aren't mowed, the Flags are in terrible shape. A public building should be maintained to make us all proud
May 02, 2010 22:31:53 Craig DuMond   Yes, it may affect your taxes. You should have received a letter from the Delaware County Planning Board about 6 months ago asking you if your property in the Ag District is still being used for Ag purposes. If you did not respond to the letter you risk having your property removed from the district. If your property is till being used for Ag purposes it is very easy to keep your property listed in the Ag District. Just call the planning department at 746-2944 and inform them of same. That is all it takes to remain in the district. Your information must be received by May 12th so don\'t delay!
May 02, 2010 21:59:32 wshbown   does anyone know what it means for the review of the agricultural district 12 the just removed me from this zoning does this mean my taxes are going to go up
May 02, 2010 10:43:37 Grumpy Masonville will hold CLEAN-UP DAYS on May 14 and 15 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Town Highway Garage on Route 206.
May 02, 2010 09:50:53 curious   Does anyone know when clean up days is going to be held this year?
April 29, 2010 11:52:27 jimZ   one year he sold a old phone booth you never know what will show up. Still wish i bid on that could use it to turn into superman:)
April 29, 2010 09:41:28 Observer   Ingrams Auction is a general auction specializing in farm equipment. Tractors etc. But he generally has a lot of general items from household to building supplies. Lawn and garden and sometimes even new items.9
April 28, 2010 20:06:17 wshbown   does anyone know about ingrams auction on saturday time and what kind of stuff will be up for auction
April 28, 2010 11:29:13 Grumpy Yup! Looking out of the window this morning, all I can say is:"What the Hail?"
April 27, 2010 15:15:23 RangerDanger.   I know, I'm freezing.
April 27, 2010 12:24:01 .Observer   Who stole summer? I see sleet and snow in the air
April 23, 2010 05:49:45 Grumpy I noticed yesterday that the flags were flying correctly in front of the Masonville General Store and Crescent Wrench Cafe. The US Flag Code stipulates that the US flag is always displayed in its place of honor, to the left of all other flags. In the past, I've observed the flag flying to the right of the OPEN flag. As Commander of Disabled Veterans Chapter 200, I notice stuff like that. Grumpy is pleased to see it fly correctly.
April 19, 2010 22:15:05 Grumpy Well Tony, it is still April and anything can happen in this month. The morning you left, you should have seen fairly large snowflakes falling. My decks were white, but everything melted by afternoon and the sunshine made it a wonderful day.
April 18, 2010 14:59:23 Tony - CR-20   Hey Grumpy...hope all is well and thanks for putting the board back up. Rich...glad it worked out for you! BTW...It was cold up there this morning when I left!
April 15, 2010 14:48:43 Grumpy Rich, Tony, even Mrcoding, you are making me very happy! THIS is the kind of exchange for which I intended this message board. I am pleased it is being used properly and constructively.
April 15, 2010 14:22:57 Rich   Tony - Thank you very much. My topsoil is being delivered so that should keep me busy for awhile.
April 14, 2010 01:11:08 Tony - CR-20   Rich - I use Don Snow Trucking in Harpursville (607) 693-8432. Has the Top Soil, don't know about Mulch.
April 13, 2010 13:11:09 Rich   mrcoding - thanks. I called Osterhout's Landscaping and left several messages but no returned phone call. On that note, I'm still looking for top soil and mulch.
April 09, 2010 09:30:29 mrcoding   Hi Rich...I believe Osterhout's Landscaping on route 28 in Oneonta delivers to Masonville. The number is...607-432-5098
April 09, 2010 09:15:19 Rich   I'm in need of a few yards of top soil and 5 yards of red mulch. Does anyone know of someone who delivers to Masonville?
April 08, 2010 22:41:02 mrcoding   there is a dog that is left out almost all day and night and barks incessently. Who else hears it and does anyone know who owns the dog?
April 08, 2010 07:15:27 George Denys Other shoe dropping tonight!!
April 08, 2010 07:15:21 Grumpy Well, Observer, you didn't have to wait too long! It is damp and drizzly this morning, with thunderstorms expected later toningt!
April 07, 2010 11:43:34 Observer   This beautiful weather we are having has me holding my breath waiting for the other shoe to drop.
April 05, 2010 08:42:28 driver72   I see many cars passing tractor trailer and then i see convoys of car sometimes behind them were no one passes then the last car all the way in the back makes the move to pass when they shouldn't seen many close calls. Why dont these tractor trailer driver pull to the side when they see so many car back up behind them. I mite see 1 in 10 do this but its not enough.
March 29, 2010 00:30:22 RangerDanger.   You have a point, my father is 55. According to what I said before he'd be almost elderly, but I don't think he'll be near there for another 20 years (and definitely won't be acting it)
March 28, 2010 18:58:37 Me   Thursday is the opening day of Trout fishing. Please remember that the water is still VERY cold. Be carefull!! Also keep a keen eye out for our resident forest ranger......he's a bit ticket happy. Nice guy, just a bit gung *CENSORED*!!
March 28, 2010 17:55:18 Rich   To all - Sorry, I typed my last message a bit too fast. Does anyone know the phone number or email address of the guy who sells firewood on Rt. 8 next to the church?
March 28, 2010 13:33:51 Rich   Does any know the phone number or email address of the guy who sells firewood on Rt 8 next to the church.
March 26, 2010 15:42:06 Observer   And PS Ranger 60 years old is not elderly LOL
March 26, 2010 15:24:45 Observer   RangerDanger. While I agree with most of your message there is no way the driver of the tractor trailer could be construed at fault and having been in many tractor trailers it is entirely possible he was not aware of the accident. I am not saying he was not aware I am saying it is a very real possibility. As to what he could have done to prevent the accident? That I do not know. Probably not much actually. I am sure no one started out that day with the intent of having an accident. My daughter was 3 cars back from the car that pulled out to pass. She and others were aware immediately that there was going to be a terrible calamity. And, she recognized her friends auto and knew it was too late to do anything by anyone including the car that pulled out to pass. It was one of those terrible and unfortunate things that happen on our highways.
March 26, 2010 15:07:30 RangerDanger.   I would just like to say that I hope they find the driver of the tractor trailer involved in the incident. I personally drive from Masonville to Delhi four days a week and have passed many slow moving tractor trailers on those roads, only to have them speed up when they see me start to pass them! Has anyone thought of why the tractor trailer didn\'t stop when he saw two cars collide beside him? I drove threw after the accident and there is NO WAY that the driver of the rig didn\'t notice it happen. The elderly womans car was almost completely destroyed and Josh\'s car was half missing. My heart sank driving past there, once I realized that I was witnessing what was the remains of an accident involving a \"friend\" of the family. My condolences go out to both Joshua, his family, and the family of and Mrs. Bush. There is nothing anyone can do to bring her back, but we can all hope that Josh makes it through and faces whatever he has ahead of him.
March 26, 2010 13:26:42 Observer   Glad to see this board back up and running. I am sure that soon there will be a lot more people using it. I maintain the "Official" Masonville website but the "Official" does not have comment capabilities so it is nice to have a site where the residents can make comments and observations.
March 25, 2010 11:52:54 Grumpy Gee, I didn't know I couldn't format italic and bold typeface in my previous message! I'll have to talk to my webmaster about that.
March 25, 2010 11:48:29 Grumpy <i>My wife drives from Masonville daily to Binghamton. My son drives daily from Masonville to Oneonta and my daughter drives...</i> My wife drives daily from Masonville to <b>everywhere</b>! I always tell her: "Drive carefully out there!" What does that mean? It means to stay alert and aware of what the other drivers are doing! When I taught my sons to drive, I always complemented them on their good work. I also reminded them that it doesn't matter how well they drive when there are others out there who don't! Not only must one drive well, one must also look out for, and expect, others to make mistakes! It only takes a few seconds to takes someone elses life!
March 25, 2010 09:03:13 Observer   My best wishes for a speedy recovery goes out to the young man from Masonville who was involved in the very tragic and needless accident that took place Wednesday near Walton. The woman who was killed in the accident was my daughter's very dear friend and a close friend of my family. My daughter was on her way to work in Delhi when she witnessed her friend being killed. Mrs. Bush died as my daughter stood beside her at the accident site. While it is not my job to lay blame on anyone, we have experts for that, it appears it was another of those tragedys we can chalk up to impatience and inattentativness. Folks please drive more carefully out there. Our highways today are dangerous places for the best of drivers. My wife drives from Masonville daily to Binghamton. My son drives daily from Masonville to Oneonta and my daughter drives from Walton to Delhi and then hundreds of miles around Delaware county every day. I do not want to lose them or anyone else.
March 24, 2010 14:56:18 Grumpy There was snow on the ground this morning. It is all gone now and the sun is shining!
March 23, 2010 13:09:59 Andrew Kenyon Lorenz, La Quinta, CA To any and all citizens of Masonville, N.Y. Do any of you have knowledge of where we might find records of our family history? My great-grandfather, James Monroe Robbins, was born in or around Masonville between approximately 1830-1850. If anyone has knowledge of our family history, please contact me at your convenience. Thank you.
March 22, 2010 07:47:59 Me   Well, We as a country are done. Healthcare will bankrupt us. We are no longer a free people. We are done.
March 19, 2010 22:54:46 Me   Funsucker.....25% is more like it. Blame Albany. Idiots.
March 19, 2010 22:23:38 Me   I didn't miss it at all.
March 18, 2010 21:01:15 wishbone   missed the message board welcome back
March 15, 2010 22:39:28 RangerDanger.   I see we're back in action.
March 11, 2010 18:49:56 Funsucker   Welcome back. How about that school budget huh? What's your guess on the % of increase 4% - 5% who knows. Our district has gone to the dogs:)
March 10, 2010 11:39:28 Grumpy The Message Board is functioning again. We had to take it down for a period due to abusers. We will not condone "name calling" and/or personal attacks. Sorry to have to perhaps restrict someone's "Freedom of Expression," but offenders may be indeed be "banned" from this venue.
October 01, 2009 09:03:33 CrzyFlea   Just wanted to drop by and express my deepest condolances to Judy; your mother was a wonderful woman and she will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved her. To the other two families who lost loved ones in the last two weeks, I'm so sorry for your losses.
September 30, 2009 17:36:33 RangerDanger.   I check this every couple days, and I must say this has gotten quite out of hand. Grumpy, perhaps you could speak to your webmaster about having "message approvals" if that is possible?
September 30, 2009 08:16:58 ScruffiesLove   Grumpy, I do apologize to you and the town for this "feud". All i can say is , as far as for me i know better and can understand the inconvenience to you and the people that use the site. I once ran not only a board but a network of chat for many years.. So i know your grief. I can tell you I will hold to what i stated before. I will not engage in any further debates not only on my personal life but not on anyone else for that matter. I never expected to have my issues place on the town board , it was not me who started it , but i am trying to end it. This board is not for that type of behavior. Again ,I apologize for myself. Far as the others intentions go I can not speak for them. I can once again advise my friends and family not to add further comment. As for Mr. Harris part , that is not anything I can control. Also, Grumpy on a new topic, it has been a while since I was involved with servers, boards and chats. but if I do reengage in its activities I would be more then happy to offer you FREE space for the town board through one of my old host. I know many who own server boxes. I will contact a few friends who still have dealing with this and see if i might be able to help you. I might be able to offer you Free hosting through them as a favor to me . This as i am sure you know, saves a-lot of money, you would then be just left with the domain cost. you could transfer the domain in to free DNS " Zoneedit" to handle all DNS directions. If this is something you might be interested in just let me know. I do not know how verse you are in stuff like this but feel free to ask me any questions
September 30, 2009 06:07:17 George Denys Why not just ban the single offender/instigator?? The rest of us can then continue to enjoy the service you provide in the spirit you have requested.
September 29, 2009 20:09:03 "Grumpy" Ernst Keidel You are correct, George! What started out as a good way for the Masonvillains to express themselves, became a re-emergence of the Hatfields and McCoys, no, the Harris and Nichols Feud! And all eyes look to me to do something, as if I were the instigator. Well, there IS something I can do - I can shut down this website and save myself a couple of hundred dollars and a lot of grief. Perhaps that would be a disservice to the ones who read this venue and enjoy it. Perhaps this site did have some positive aspects, such as announcing lost and/or found pets, salient questions or observations of things around town. Anyway, if this feud is continued on my open town message board, I'll have to shut down - the ball is your court!
September 29, 2009 19:24:02 George Denys Grumpy, This message board is again out of hand in my opinion.
September 29, 2009 19:01:27 ScruffiesLove Aka J Nichols   lol ,Laughing I agree. Masonville is not that small. Ang, Thank you for your opinion/comment, Not everyone is judgmental , without knowing all the facts. BTW On a much lighter note ..the mountain tops are looking spectacular. Fall has arrived!
September 29, 2009 16:23:55 Laughing   Ang WHOA< WHOA One or two people do not constitute the Town of Masonville.
September 29, 2009 15:56:04 Ang I can't believe what I'm seeing/reading here on this local Message Board, what an absolute disgrace everyone is doing for there so-called "Hometown". I personally don't live there, but I sure can tell you this I wouldn't EVER live in such a hell hole of a pit. This family will/has done more in there lifetime to help others than anyone will truly know, why? They don't tell anyone, they don't give themselves as a family that EARNED Credit, But My Family DOES, so Nichol Family keep kicking *CENSORED* :0). As for there Daughter Chelsea, she is a very confused, emotional, and was abused BUT NOT by any of the Nichol's family it was done by her Biological Family, she needs to get help, she needs to understand that she is mixing up her Biological Family who were nothing more than dead beats, drug using, and abusive Parents with the family that took her in, and jumped hoops for almost 2yrs. to give her something she NEVER had/gotten from her Bio. family and that was Unconditional love, a SAFE haven, and a chance to have a Childhood" she NEVER had or was given by her!! So unless anyone ACTUALLY knows what there talking about, maybe it's time for your little Masonville to just STOP talking all together and leave the Nichols Family ALONE!! If anything EVERYONE should pull together as a little community and try to help and work TOGETHER as adults, and STOP acting as children, or for that matter STOP upsetting the Nichol's Children, they ARE children, everyone else is supposed to be adults, so show EVERYONE'S children in Masonville, how to correctly help/deal with such non-sense, BUT deal/help in a positive way. I hope your little Community can come together, instead of tearing each other to pieces Good Luck to EVERYONE :0)
September 29, 2009 14:44:53 Laughing   That did not sound right LOL. The driveway is not plugged full due to a heart problem but rather due to a heart problem I cannot shovel the snow when the snow plugs the driveway full> LOL
September 29, 2009 14:43:09 Laughing   I love the fall weather but highly dislike what follows. I can no longer get out there and shovel snow when the driveway is plugged full due to a heart problem. I have attempted to have several people clear the drive for me on a regular basis but none of them ever last long. So, my dear wife usually has to shovel at least a path to get her car out and go to work. Maybe this winter we will be lucky and get no snow. Ya Think?
September 29, 2009 13:11:23 steammill   I agree i think this needs to come to an end and people need to stop being puerile, and take matters into their own hands.Instead of promulgating somebody\'s personal life. This is how rumors start people so knock off the middle school drama.
September 29, 2009 12:53:26 J Nichols   I am only going to make one post and one post only. I refuse to respond to any more stupidity ( that's just my opinion a tthe moment as to what this is.) This forum is not the place for my personal stuff, Doug Harris personal stuff or anyone's personal stuff . However i feel a need to address this at-least for my children, who at the moment feel that we are being slandered. #1 I was made aware of this activity by my son. Children should not have to read on a town forum horrible untrue things about their family or personal things about their family. The town should serve as an example. And YES children do use this forum. Family issues or even non family issues that effect peoples lives should not be placed on here. #2 To correct everyone my daughter (and this is the truth!) She made her choice to move out on her own she was NEVER at any point asked to leave or " tossed out " She left on her own ,even after she was begged by her friends and advised by her family not too. She was loved and cared for in any way a parent can love and care for a child . For what ever reason the rumors and untrue stories of how it happened is apparently going around, however for those of us who were in the home at the time, Friends, family, HER friends and friends of the other children, they can all witness to the truth, She felt at the age of 18 1/2 , my rules at home were unfair even tho still in high-school. She felt she didn't have to follow them any longer, She was your more then typical teenager who came from a abusive home that WE adopted. She was adopted out of love and was cared for properly. Just because a child is 18 doesn't give them the right to do what ever they want . Like any parent or decent parent you voice your concerns and your children may not always agree or feel their is a need for them. This was the case. She was not abused. The rest of the children in the home are becoming greatly upset over this and it really isn't fair to them! I should not even have to be coming on here doing this. I have no need to defend myself. However i will if it will make my children more comfortable. The other children in the home are being effect about this false accusation of the abuse of their sister. I don't care who tells me how i should feel. I can tell you how i do feel. Thats MY daughter, i love, her worry about her,and want to make clear she is welcome home at any time. We are here if she needs us, and always will be!! however there will always be rules in my home. The people that took her in happen to be her boyfriends parents. The boyfriend happens to be one of those things we were in disagreement about,. Enough of that topic i have already spoken about it way more then i should of ever had too, #3 Doug Harris is also not telling the 100% truth. I have no reason to lie, I am behind on payments of a mortgage. I am not a tenant. He did not rent the home to me. (I am not however calling him a liar, he sees the land contract one way i see it another) I have tried to speak with him ( again it is just not in the manor he wants or when he wants,. We do have a family to still raise. and we apparently have a difference of option how to discuss adult things.) He resorts to things like this and other outlandish ways i feel is not appropriate. We have fell on hard times and had un-expect events happen. My husband is currently self employed and doing his best to come up with work to support us. Do you all really think Doug Harris comments about us will help my husband obtain work.? Isn't that what is going to make us able to pay him his money? Which is one of his complaints and happens to be the only one that holds any sort of truth .Does that make any sence? Why would you look to slander the people that you need to pay you and warn people not to do business with them?. I will let you answer those questions. It is not for me to judge, not my motive. We maintain the property and the others bills pertaining to the home. Again, i have no need or feel I should have to defend myself. We have done nothing wrong as a family. other then income lose , If that is a crime , then sorry I was unaware. Most of the nation must be committing the same crime. If Mr Harris wants us out then ask your selves WHY this, and not the legal way??? foreclose? This way creates what? To me ,all i see is people getting angry and upset. I don't even want to be put in a position of libel. I am not out to harm anyone or discredit them. I have nothing Bad or Good to say about Doug Harris. #4 Last i can tell you everything other then behind on some payments none of the rest is true. I wish i had a reason for the false statements he has made .but i don't and i rather not assume. However, i guess you will on your own form your opinions. #5 I am Mrs. Nichols have been for 18 years . My husband and i have been togehter since i was in high school and we both graduated locally , I am a mother of 4 and 1 step child and a proud mother i love all 5 children. #6 To answer someone else question directed to Doug Harris. I am a local. My husband was born an raised here.. and i was raised here most of my life. We left the area for several years due to my husbands work transferring him out of state. when that job came to a sudden end, We moved back home to be closer to the majority of our family and our old friends whom we visited EVERY year. My children started their schooling right in the Sidney school district, that they have now returned too The question might be is Doug Harris a local? Summary: This was all unnecessary i made my statements and wish do not state anymore I will not respond to anything left on the forum cause it will only lead into a he said, she said thing and that in the end will hurt my children more then anyone else involved in this . Doug you have changed your E-mail i have tried to contact you via your old e-mail address however it keeps coming back un-found i been trying to contact you since Sept 3rd..( i see on here you have a new one however i will not e-mail to it because you have not personality given it to me and without your permission i will not do so.) If you wish to contact me you know how my email has not changed,. BUT I will not respond to you here as this is NOT the place for your private stuff and mine and my families. It is also unfair to the rest of the people in this town. I want to thank those who have felt the need to defend us. However i would even more appreciate if you no longer add to this topic. My Family and friends are very important to us. I would rather you all say nothing at all to avoid undue stress, and spare these people of the town the drama and rumors and gossip. but again thank you for saying the things you have . I apologies that this was even brought to the towns forum. I am also requesting that the webmaster remove this and everything pertaining to this topic off the site. I wish everyone here the best.
September 29, 2009 12:53:14 Anonymous   Chelsea left a situation that she did not want to be in. Bottom line. Knock it off. And it was not Matt or Sean that said this.
September 29, 2009 09:14:22 Laughing   This discussion about who is what and who is not should be in an attorny's office or court of law not on a public message board. Probably is time for the very generous host of this BBS to bring it all to a halt before more damage is done to these families.
September 29, 2009 07:45:53 christopher nichols   ok i vote that which ever it is Shawn or Matt who ever needs to stop spreading *CENSORED* ok Chelsea moved out that\'s what happened u think its funny to exploit someones life on the internet cause its really not my family arent bad people if u belive this stuff then go ahead but im just letting u know we really arent the kind of people that everyone is saying we are on here
September 28, 2009 23:19:00 RangerDanger.   I vote that we drop the subject.
September 28, 2009 23:09:09 State.Eight.   I believe the \"lovely daughter\" you speak of was thrown out of the house by her parents recently. And was treated HORRIBLY by them. She\'s lucky that she has another place to stay.
September 28, 2009 22:52:59 RangerDanger.   I've lived in Masonville for the past 18 years bertimouse.
September 28, 2009 20:45:43 Tom Barton Bertimouse - Congrats on thinking about your HAM License. HAMs provide a valuable community service when other means of communication are limited or non-existent. If you\'d like to see how a proper HAM NET works, come out and support International Rally New York. As you know, we hoped to be in Masonville, but that did not come to be. We are racing in Sullivan County the end of October, instead. My son and I just put up the repeater for the event. Excellent coverage from a portable repeater that could be put up anywhere for emergency comms. If you\'d like to come out and help, and learn about HAM radio, feel free to contact me or Rich - N2ZXK. Also - you sandbaggers - Other volunteers are NEEDED..... with or with out HAM licenses.... Tom, driver of Mazda 323 - WB2QPN -
September 28, 2009 19:42:34 Cupcake   well obviously someone has no life considering they like to spill someone\'s personal life out to everyone else which half of it i\'m sure isn\'t true.
